Except all of the above mentioned haven't been known too sneak into the Emperors room and assassinate him in the heart of your Empire by using your own sewers... Imagine the complications when your townsfolk start sealing sewers, toilets, and waterlines. Refusing to mine metals needed for arms and armor for fear of running into Ratmen, never to be seen again. Skaven, unlike all the others negative factions save for the Daemons (which most equally know very little about) mentioned above are far more intelligent and have cohesion. So you have two options. Create histeria for your townspeople who are already powerless. Or keep silent and keep the machine, that which is the Empire running smoothly until you can figure out a more permanent way on how to deal with what you already know very little about. For the exception that they can, and have made entire cities dissappear within a fortnight...

All of those threats, you can say, don't worry, stay in the city, defend the walls and we can hold them off. But the Skaven are already inside the city. Every other threat. You can share, since everyone can shelter in cities, man the walls, take up arms to fight them off. But knowing there's millions of evil rat men bellow your own house... what can you do about it? People would just panic

the End Times has plenty of great story arcs, just because it led to the end of the setting doesn't mean it isn't worth retelling, if only to get an idea of what a resolution to the many underplots such as the Eight Peaks war, Malekith's feud or the return of Nagash might look like. It was also the impetus behind some of the best model designs for fantasy to date.

The ways they lose are so stupid, the tactics displayed are so fuc|king basic, it's ridiculous. Even here, where there seems to be much more detail. It feels like all of humanity had to give their brains away before the beginning of the story. And I'm not talking about leadership getting killed. That doesn't mean everyone is automatically going to sui|cide one by one!

@@leogamer98 basically the entire Endtimes started because Fantasy models started not to sell. GW wanted to focus on 40k and maybe make a new fantasy. Also during this time they had some of the worst writers to ever write in Warhammer. Hence why it’s so bad. Only some good ones from fantasy stayed (they didn’t even get to finish writing their characters) like Gav Thorpe or Dan Abnett

@@npierce14 the Skaven blowing up the evil moon and crushing Lustria and Southlands (everything south of Khemri). Along with just insulting all the Lizardmen players, then Grimgor is going on his great Wagh to end Chaos Dwarves, Chatay, Nipon, and the Kurgan. Then the 2nd worst crime of the Endtimes, the final battle of EightPeaks which bastardized all the dwarf characters.

Let’s be honest, if the end times were properly written, it be Thanqual’s fault. He’d then mess up and get his own race blown up as well.

I REALLY wish Tilea, Estalia and the Border Princes had been given their own faction DLCs.... you can’t have fantasy Europe without Italy, Spain and Switzerland/Austria.... their cities, armies and lore are really cool but we will never see them.... sigh...

I think it speaks volume of yout talent on the channel that you could convince even quite a number of warhammer-fans who hated the endtimes (for good reason) to watch the videos about it. I wish just it were a better story to tell.

Your maps are amazing, it looks great. Playing wh2 & wh3 since years now, I truly appreciate the accuracy and how it render well in your videos. Probably less interested by Conan ie, but about Warhammer, it’s outstanding how it looks good ! Hope you make many more of them, including others periods of the warhammer fantasy universe. I'm pretty sure the writers play Warhammer Total War. They did a great job highlighting the best and most effective Skaven units. An army of Ratling guns, Warplock Jezzails, and Plagueclaw Catapults will annihilate any opposing army before it can even get close to them.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the "end times" series. You guys have really put a lot of work into these videos. I can also see why a lot of folks were pissed off by what GW decided to do.

*sigh* home of the dogs of war just randomly dying to the skaven without a fight essentially. Love the end times. Great video tho

We need these maps to be in the game, just imagine those maps in IE + naval battles

I still don't understand why the empire doesn't want to recognize the skaven. It is just dumb considering that they have dealt with much much worse things in the past (literally every other non-human faction in WH). If the skaven has infiltrated every city then the empire should have RAISED the awareness to find them and prepare suitable defense and strategy.

Think about it like this, if the empire recognises the Skaven then the Skaven view them as a threat and then attack. Notice how the dwarfs and brettonia have to deal with the Skaven on a regular basis whislt the empire doesn’t? Well this is because the Skaven are anxious terrified creatures and the empire is not seen as a threat and thus well left alone. It’s very smart especially as it frees up manpower to fight chaos/beastmen vampires norsca and other threats

Surely your government has a problem they're ignoring to some degree because of...er hopefully good reasons because the worst I know is they profit from it. @@hieuphungminh6690 well that’s warhammer in a nutshell, and the worlds quite big and not as easy to navigate as ours a lot of stipulations are in place in some cultures that prevent or make it hard to unite, there’s a reason why the brettonian and empire hardly ever unite in a war and why it’s usually the dwarves of NEIGHBOURING karaks that are the only ones to fight with the empire. Kislev gets involved only if it’s a northern Incursion. But the Skaven are far to distributed to try wiping them out best thing to do is leave them be

1 is hysteria, The skaven is a threat to almost all factions and even the lizardmen (slann) see the skaven specially pestilen as their premiere rival than chaos itself, The Empire hids the existence to the common people of the empire, peasants and rural citizens are the target of this ignorance, Soldiers and the nobility are aware of the skavens existence but cannot let their existence be know by the rural folk as the empire itself is a decentralized mess (fantasy hre) and unlike bretonnia the nobility is accountable to some degree towards the common imperial citizen (i.e because of chaos and the vampires). Second their is some measaure against the skaven, The career of being a sewer jack is a legit job in the empire expert skaven hunters who wage war with the hated ratmen away from the urbanite eye, The Empire is also very steampunk in some sense, The Empire flooded their sewer system with boiling steam every month for obvious reasons and some of their cities are almost skaven free (see middenheim, Taalbecheim and inner altdorf).

there really wasnt enough back stabbing and accidental devastation wrecked on the skaven by their own weapon to do the war justice or skaven justice. Great video

I think the writers for the end times just only knew Skaven. Cuz the Skaven took the city, actually smarter than Chaos took any others. Had the swarms dying en mass and endless numbers, but clever use of assassination and stealth in the sewers. Chaos ONLY used the swarm strat and just always worked out by itself

the video content here is super high quality and you folks did a fantastic job. I still hate how reverse "deus ex machina" the end times was. Kislev was bad, but its like the Border Princes were absolutely useless and oblivious and its just every time there was a solution "op the Skaven have a strategy for that". Like its just so forced its unbelievable that the Princes would have lasted centuries on end only to be wiped out in like a handful of days (same goes for Kislev et al Order powers)

Really enjoyed your videos about the end times. I'm looking forward to the next one.

@@PoggoMcDawggo The end times is full of bad writting, characters acting in ways they never would, characters that stop appearing midway because the writters forgot about them, and retcons, a lot of retcons. So yeah we dont like it, in fact when discussing lore it is a non written rule that the end times is not to be taken into account.

Before the End Times there was a sense of direction and one knows how characters thought and what they might have done. Then the End Times makes them do decisions that make no sense and spoilers the world explodes because of one such instance because Magnus von Carstein turned heel and killed Gelt or someone God I don't remember who but he killed the Avatar of Death/Hysh and that ruined the one ritual that would have saved the world. Like, he wants to own a kingdom and lead and rule and shit he ain't ruling anything but cosmic ashes. Another is Valten who was set up as the natural leader of the Empire and replace the system of Emperors which set up Karl Franz's story as probably ending in a sacrifice since he gave up Ghal Maraz to Valten the chosen of Sigmar. Then Valten dies to a rat assassin....I think I don't wanna remember because that was a mental shouting match way back. Then there was Thorgrim Grudgebearer who dies to another rat assassin. It wasn't even a master assassin just an upgrade of a fucking Gutter Runner. Like...what the fuck? Then there's Sigvald who was pissed on then Hulked on Loki by Throgg like what the fuck was the narrative behind that? Throgg appeared out of fucking nowhere. Christ. I was expecting beef with another champion because he's a pompous bastard. But no, he got Lokied. So having those expectations betrayed and the world exploding left little love for GW and their End Times. Then the IP was shut down because it stopped making money because the story before End Times occured was about...a decade old? Yes. Innovationg died and without that there was no money so it was decided to cut it off then rebrand it under Age of Sigmar. Which was even worse as there were no tabletop rules everyone could do fuck all and field as many soldiers as they wanted and thr fact that we got Fantasy Space Marines with hammers. It was obviously an attempt at 40king the corpse of Fantasy so End Times got even more conceptual hatred for birthing this undead thing. Now GW is bringing back Fantasy because of Total War so greed is staring at us in the face. Yes. Its this complicated and honestly looking back, petty for everyone, but trauma can be petty sometimes.

It gets really bad soon mate. Grimgor’s story, the dwarve stories, Skarsneeg, and the Lizardmen stories are terrible (they ruin the characters and factions). The only good one I recommend you read is the Gotrek and Felix one because it’s mainly separate (it’s part of it’s on series), and it treats its characters with respect.

This video is interesting as the Skaven already overwhelm both Estalia and Tilea at the onset of the End Times. Even Mannfred von Carstein is surprised in how quickly the ratkin overrun the Southern Realms while on his way to Mordkin Lair.

The skaven: warhammer fantasys boogyman. This is why i love fantasy more than 40k. Medieval gothic horror anyday. The secretive skaven only enchance the dark mood. Its a shame gw killed it off only to bring it back under the old world because of product sales instead of properly implicating story rules and affordable army sizes
