Kislev is the nation most naturally prepared to fight against Chaos. So of course they would get overwhelmed almost immediately.

Hearing how Prage feel just hurt. Like during the Great War of Chaos, it withstood weeks against a massive chaos host. It’s just so stupid

Supremely hypes up the new Tzarina. Kislev perpetually prepared to defend. Praag always under siege. Praag falls nearly instantly. Katarin isn't even there for 90% of it. And Kislev itself collapses after 1 battle of deciding to Sally out their army for some reason. Of course Chaos has to win. But Kislev should have made a shown, slowed Chaos enough for the Empire to get their defences ready

I love how orcs in Warhammer, specially Grimgor, remain the ultimate wildcard. Always popping out when you least expect them, and even unintentionally saving the day.

The Old Ones forged the first Greenskin Krorks as the greatest weapon against the forces of Chaos, and their innate WAAAGH abilities are easily capable of overpowering anything the Chaos Gods can conjure from mortal dreams. In a way, they are the ultimate wild card and antithesis to the forces of Chaos. A true wildfire that burns away rot and decay to allow new growth in its wake.

Because you never think. During the Great War against Chaos, Kislev got rekt hard and needed the Teclis, Dwarfs, and Magnus+Empire to save it. Archaon is 100+ times more powerful than Khul and his legions are larger and more empowered. Kislev has no way to stop him.

This is the revised end times, that they came up with in 2014 to kill off the game. In the original end times from the 2004 summer campaign, things went very differently.

I really hate when GW try to have chaos characters at once be the epitome of stupid edge that just want to destroy the world in service of objective evil, but at the same time we are supposed to buy them as conflicted and tragic. Either have them be unapologetically cheesy or don’t do them. Archaon’s supposed motive gets so stupid you kind of have to ignore it.

I love how in the lore Throgg is this well spoken and clever creature. But in total war he's just "YOU DIE" "ME EAT YOU"

I could have swore the actual lore was that Grimgor was so hard to kill that the khorne army literally had to retreat from him. Grimgor didn't go any further bc he had no army himself. It seams extremely extremely extremely unlikely that a champion of khorne would spare his thicccc skull...

I knew the endtimes was bad but i didn't know it was "kislev instantly died and then on to the empire" bad like damn Katarin was probably one of the better characters in all of warhammer fantasy and then they just sort of throw her aside and make her incompetent and useless, despite her being one of the most powerful mages around, probably THE most powerful when in Kislev.

Kislev never managed to hold the line against Chaos until the 12th Invasion, and that had more to do with Magnus, Teclis and several Dawi clans carrying them. Kislev has never been that good whenever it comes to Chaos combined, absolutely never in Waharmmer's history.

Or just barely overcome their defences Rather than, sll the cities dying instantly, and Katarin fleeing, there should have been big seiges, woth Katarin fighting, rallying the entire population and using Ice magic, until someone like Throgg or Archaon come in to kill her in an epic duel and break the spirit of Kislev Is Chaos had just destroyed everyone instantly, fair enough. But the Empire survives for ages after this Listen to the lore for Katarin at the start of this, then inmediately 'she goes over there and doesnt fight at all'

Interesting choice to explore the End Times of Warhammer Fantasy through a Kings and Generals style video. The End Times is fairly nonsensical and has a lot of pretty daft points, e.g. Kislev just getting shitstomped with no redeeming moments of glory.

@@j.k.4761 Why not? Literally nothing would have stopped GW from crafting Age of Sigmar with either a fundamentally different origin, or a better crafted one. I don't see how giving Kislev the respect it deserved would have been a critical barrier to Sigmar's realms. I don't mind Age of Sigmar, a lot of it is cool. But from a meta perspective, GW sets the rules of the setting. If they wanted Age of Sigmar, they could have easily brought it into being without having to trash WH Fantasy. Hell, what they did could be easy enough - Big magic ritual or surge cause the Winds of Magic to latch onto the beings that define them (i.e. what basically happens) and catapults them into Chaos space/the Warp. That alone is basically what the end result of the End Times was, and done without giving Fantasy such a miserable ending.

Like most, we expected more than just a speed bump. A thrashing animal dying violently into the cold night would've been more appealing and better portrays Chaos in the long run as a force of nature that takes heavy losses right out the gate and STILL steamrolls through like nothing happened.

@@DarktheRelentless ​ Historically, Kislev was always a small speed bump for Everchosen armies. Archaon's horde was the largest Chaos horde to ever darkly grace the world. Moreover, the Chaos Gods weren't holding back and the horde featured the All-Stars of Chaos all united behind one banner. Add to that that Kislev never truly recovered from Asvar Kul's invasion. Also the fact that Kislv was not a developed playable faction at the time so GW didn't need to placate any players' hurt feelings. Add to that the Empire and dwarfs are too busy to help this time around. etc etc. Kislev stood no chance. Expecting Kislev to harm or delay the hordes of Archaon when it folded against a lesser Everchosem and a smaller less powerful horde is just asinine fanboyism. Not all factions deserve to have a final stand. Some just get steamrolled because that's far more realistic.

what i found most fascinating about ice magic is that it isn't drawn from the winds of magic but from the ground itself which preserve its users from chaos corruption. There is also mentions of magic that don't depends on chaos which make me wonder why the civilized races insist so much on using them.

Crom didn't beat Grimgor....Crom's army beat Grimgor's army. Crom could not kill Grimgor and Grimgor could not kill Crom, they were to skilled. In the end Crom stepped back and Grimgor noticed he was alone....then he walked away. Killing any chaos warrior who tried to stop him, Crom did not give chase.

I dont remember Grimgor actually getting disarmed by Crom. Wasn't it the other way around ? Grimgor was pushing Crom back and was close to defeating him, but his smaller army just could't keep up with him, so he had to retreat.

I do enjoy some of the older lore with grimgor, in the old lore he didn't lose the fight, but he lost the battle cause all his troops died. so he just walked away and anyone who got in his way he either ate or cut in half. love the dawi in total war but god damn does grimgor just keep drawing me back to the greenskins

This story make Tzarina look incompetent and lackluster rather than good one. She absent to somewhere when Kislev need her most and lack of situation awareness even how to cooperate with empire northern province to provide support at eringrad while they do nothing and watch city burn then they are next after Kislev been finished. Anyhow I see how the lore make anyone from the Chaos is very OP but were defeat by much weaker foes with plot armor before this. I still wonder how Kislev endure in such situations for 1,000 years if they are this very weak and can't handle even simple attack from anyone from the Chaos waste. If I were their leader I would Abaddon the this area and migrate somewhere with my people rather than stuck in this hell hole for 1,000 years.

I admire her courage to brave the chaos forces, and maybe i dont know the history of kislev and the empire but the empire couldve atleast given her asylum to bolster the emires push the forces of chaos back to the northern wastes. But i guess the empire was so divided when karl franz sat on the throne.. Argh Such bad time for the empire.

People like to hate on the end times and while I agree it was blundered big time it could have been really good if done right and not rushed. I see glimpses of how it could have been good and personally I loved the concept. You don't get many stories in which the good guys lose

A painful memory of victory lost. I participated in the Storm of Chaos campaign and, as a Von Carstein Vampire Count, helped Order win. Chaos failed pretty much everywhere(they had their wins but not to the extent portrayed in the books) but, like the Albion Campaign, GW ignored the results that was supposed to write the story and came up with the BS that was End Times. Thank Nagash CA has not decided to end Total War Warhammer with the End Times crap but allowed the player to write their own story.

Which is when I quit playing or buying miniatures. Thank the Gods for CA and a return to the Old World I grew up with and cherish.

Chaos has always somewhat rubbed me the wrong way. Demons and their followers are so ridiculously overpowered in every possible aspect it's just weird even for a fantasy world.

Yeah I have no problem playing evil factions like Delves and Skaven but I just can't get into Chaos the same way. They're too Mary Sue/Mustache Twirly.

End times is just storm of chaos campaign but Warriors of Chaos are playing on journalist difficulty. Only thing I like about end times is malekith's victory, even though there was some questionable shit there aswell.

Last year I read through the entire end times series of books. It broke my heart to see Warhammer die and Age of Sigmar spring up. The books were fantastic, sad to see so many characters go the way of the dinosaurs though.

If you are taking suggestions, how about covering the Chaos invasion of Kislev and the Empire back in the era of Magnus the Pious? Chaos was led by the previous Everchosen, Asavar Kul. This takes place several centuries before Archaon became the Everchosen and the beginning of the End Times.

Kislev’s story is like Two Brothers story in Rick and Morty. :D

Interesting, I have all 5 End Times sourcebooks and yet they didn't show much information regarding Kislevs fall, can someone tell me where did this information come from?

A great alternate history to do would be to cover wither the British, American or French civil wars in Kaiserreich, the Allied invasion of Germany in Thousand Week Reich, or alternatively, the Jamestown Crisis in For All Mankind

@2:10 Katarin looks like Elsa from Frozen. I enjoyed this video but the capitulation of Praag and Kislev was so quick that it belies the highly detailed videos from Kings and Generals. Like the Chaos Lord Mordrek overwhelmed a Kilsvite lancer division outside of the walls of Kilslev and just waltzes into the city? That’s it and the crushing of the Ice Queen’s personal forces’ breakout? It just seems so brief even for the End Times.

Everybody out here crying and bitching about Kislev getting wrecked early in the End Times. Yet they forgot something major that quoted from the start. Kislev is the people and when they lost their major city, there were plenty of remaining Kislev regiments still active. They fought a guerrilla war against Chaos, specifically the Kurgans. The surviving regiments prevented the Kurgans from linking up with the main Chaos Host to the southern lands. If the group made it down there, it would’ve been even more devastating. They also played a hand in beating down Throgg, killing nearly all his monstrous forces, stopped the son of Throgg from earning intelligence like his father. They even assisted Gotrek in reaching his next destination to prevent the ascension of Belakor at the cost of their lives. Many were still active until the end, refusing to give up and making the Chaos forces pay for every inch of ground on their homeland. Kislev fell and their armies fought even harder to avenge their beloved home.

Look, a documentary about Disney's Elsa. 😍 I'm no Warhammer aficionado, I played Warhammer Fantasy RPG 1e back then. Didn't have this one sided slaughter of Kislev in my memories. And the Zarina after all those praises how great and powerful she is, was a real letdown in the end. 🤔
