Wizards and Warriors Channel fantasy animated documentary video series on the lore Warhammer 40k Universe and the Horus Heresy, started with the discussion of how the humanity fared in the 3rd millennium and beyond, how the Emperor started uniting the Humanity and the beginning of the Great Crusade, as Emperor and his sons - the Primarchs use the newly created space marines to bring the Humans together through conquest. They would fight the Xenos, including the Orks and this episode featured the battle of Ullanor against an Orkish Waaagh ( • Warhammer 40k - Start ... ). The Primarchs grew dissatisfied when the militaristic side of the Imperium began waning in importance, and more power was given to normal humans. Many secretly broke the rules made by the Emperor, unknowingly opening themselves to the machinations of the Chaos Gods. While all this was happening, the newly appointed Warmaster, Horus Lupercal, struggled to keep his brothers in check and prove that he was a capable leader - the seeds of chaos were sown ( • Warhammer 40k - Seeds ... ). Horus falls to Chaos due the plots of Erebus, leading to the Burning of Prospero, which was one of the greatest misunderstandings in the history of the Imperium leading to the fall of the Thousands Sons to chaos.

    The Interex. A faction in the 40K universe that are peaceful, advanced and want nothing more than for all life in the galaxy to cooperate to face the actual threats.... My god they are SO doomed, aren't they?

  • @mikaelantonkurki

    @mikaelantonkurki

    11 ай бұрын

    Yep. There are some points about the interex we should note. The Kinebranch may have been benign, but they are thus far the exception that proves the rule in the galaxy. And we don't know what their intentions were for the humans of the Interex in the long run either- it wouldn't be the first time a xenos "ally" turned on humanity when it had an opportunity to do so. Secondly there is the simple fact that the Interex was a post-scarcity economy; this alone means that next to no one would like to attempt to deal with enemy forces out of physical desperation, which is often one of the major reasons why Chaos takes hold in the poverty-stricken worlds of the Imperium. Like in real life, the vast majority of people will not feel any interest in joining the enemy or a strange cult when things go well. Thirdly, the Interex was a collection of small territories when compared with the Imperium, so it was far easier for them to manage their population and bring education to the masses while keeping a better control over them, and if this sounds familiar to you, great, you are paying attention. Problem is, that falls apart as soon as the population expands too far and the small population also means that they'd be easy prey for the Necrons, Tyranids, or a sufficiently large WAAGH!. Also remember the Interex knowledge of Chaos was not a fool proof shield. They did not see Erebus for what he was and the radical inquisitors of 40k are a proof that knowledge of chaos does not protect one against it.

  • @samwill7259

    @@mikaelantonkurki Save for the fact that the Imperium already has a perfect solution to deal with its massive population: Decentralization. Yes, it was forced by the warp in this case but leaning INTO that and making the Imperium more of a free federation that comes to its own defense, allowing each planet and sector to educate, feed and protect its people where it can, and assist one another where they can't. Without meeting every alien civilization with guns first and not only would they be in a BETTER position to face threats with flexibility and high morale but the living standards of their citizenry would shoot through the roof comparativley

    Maybe if they didn't jump the gun when the Anathame blade was stolen, and instead acted rationally and tried to investigate the situation. It seems the greatest tragedies come from the greatest misunderstandings, which will include the Burning of Prospero and many other events.

    The Interex were warned about Chaos by the Aeldari and they were worried that the Imperium were it's agents. When they realised during the talks, the Imperium knew nothing about Chaos they about to relax, until when the Anathame blade was stolen from the museum. Instead of acting rationally, the Interex jumped the gun and attacked the Imperium believing they were servants of Chaos, leading to their own destruction. Ashame that the Interex while small had sophisticated technology, and could have their own unique tabletop units.

    I like the theory the whole thing was fairly planned to turn the Emperor into a god. There are flaws in the theory, but still intriguing. Openly telling his sons and humanity as a whole that he is a god worth worshipping, would likely have an opposite effect on most of his sons. The tragedy of the current story line is more in line with 40k though.

Problem is, that falls apart as soon as the population expands too far and the small population also means that they'd be easy prey for the Necrons, Tyranids, or a sufficiently large WAAGH!. Meaning that their ability to protect whole of humanity is in question which is necessary to answer in the 40k universe where things like Chaos and Tyranids exist. Also remember the Interex knowledge of Chaos was not a fool proof shield. They did not see Erebus for what he was and the radical inquisitors of 40k are a proof that knowledge of chaos does not protect one against it. IMO Interex was an equaly valid option for humanity compared to the Imperium, but not a superior one. 2) On Horus' motivations: One of the most well known grievances that is cited in the HH lore as one of the rebelion's causes is the fact that the Primarchs were forced to comply and assist the more formalized and properly organized Imperial civilian government. Multiple times during the series it has been made clear that the Emperor wanted the Imperium to be ruled by Humanity, it was not the 'Imperium of the Emperor' but the 'Imperium of Man' the Imperium after the triumph of ullanor was no longer to be a Military junta/dictatorship but one with functional and properly empowered civilian government with regular humans at its head. Then there is the Remebrancers comissioned by the council of terra and Malcador himself who were the ones who raised doubts about some of the things the learned about the GC (Again allowed by the Emperor and Malcador) and came to be despised by the Sons of Horus and ultimatelly murdered by Horus' command. While yes the Emperor and his household were still above the law, the Military, the main muscle of juntas and warlords(Primarchs) was not supposed to be, at least not entirely. They were supposed to work in concert as peers. The Imperium had just taken some significant steps in becoming the state which Kandawire had originaly imagined it to be. But some of the primarchs did not like that and wanting to preserve their powers as the Imperiums warlords, started a civil war over it, which destroyed any chances of of the Imperium becoming the state she dreamed of. SO the Heresy in the begining was an effort by the primarchs to prevent the """""""""""""Liberalization""""""""""""" of the Imperium

    The Burning of Propsero is one of the most upsetting - enraging and gut-wrenchingly sad - events in the heresy. Horus and the Wolves were naive and violent fools. That the Custodes were dragged into it too on account of being ordered to assist despite knowing better is doubly a slap in the face. Fuck Erebus.

    💚🟢 Glory to the Grandfather! Rotigus Rainfather's Wereshark Warriors? What power can Nurgle give to them, and what power can they give to him? (Some Nurgle warriors have a shark fin-shaped horn on their helmet or head, especially those of Gutrot Spume) Wood, the true element of Nurgle's weapons and bodies! Jaghatai Khan and White Scars as Nurgle's Legion, with poisonous wooden skeletons and thorns, bringers of the plague storm (with Rotigus Rainfather at their side). After each hunt and victory they dip the skulls in poison, in honor of Nurgle. (They symbolize the more natural side of the God of Death) There was once a Keeper of Secrets who annihilated an Eldar Craftworld by possessing a vulnerable Avatar of Khaine. How devastating would it be if he gets possessed by a Great Unclean One? A serious critique of Nurgle's forces: large, massive, plagued/poisonous bodies but more harder and less rotten. Is this logical enough? 🟢💚 I'm really curious. Imagine if instead of Loyalist Mortarion and Death Guard (except Typhon and followers of course) it was Traitor Jaghatai Khan (later with crow wings as a gift from the plagued Crowfather) and White Scars (all corrupted by the now poisonous Sorcerer Hasik Noyan-Khan) who fell to Nurgle! (An example Plague Ogors with super speed) How is their speech and fighting? And how does Rogal use the XIV Legion's abilities to defend Terra? (Here Mortarion used his psychic power to destroy the Necromancers and Necare, with his tough Librarians harshly disciplined, very different from the reckless Magnus and Thousand Sons) 🤍⚪ Remove their cannibalism, leave them with bones☠️bone ash, and Mortifactors💀 become great (even as the replacement for the XIV Legion).

    💚🟢 Let's imagine that Angron and Horus are Loyalists (according to my version), could Alpharius/Omegon be the new Daemons of Nurgle? (Example the seven-headed Plague Hydras, who live in poisonous Swamp Planets, Jungle Planets and Ocean Planets, corrupted by Rotigus Rainfather for the God of Death, the monster's immortality as a glorious symbol of the eternal Cycle of Rebirth)

    🩶🤍 Loyalist Mortarion, who with discipline and determination used his psychic power to destroy the Necromancers and liberate his world, then commanding the harsh Librarians of his tough Death Guard. Traitor Typhon, who used his poisonous psychic power to corrupt his companions and escape in his plagued ship, vowing vengeance in Nurgle's name against the uncorrupted Pale King of Barbarus. Well?
