Gotta say my 15" Tropo i bought, used no less (though treated VERY well), has performed and endured under the most extreme of conditions, and has sounded Great the entire time!! Putting probably triple the max RMS to it at times this is without a doubt one of the best 15" subs i have ever owned!!

I'm putting a system together for the first time since 1989 . Back then subs only had 1 voice coil .....which was 4 ohm ! The amps back then were class AB . Back then I powered 2 15 inch subs with 125 watts each into 4 ohm and it worked great. The subs at the time used very large boxes with small volume ports . Today the boxes are small with large volume ports . The subs have multiple voice coils and amps are rated into 1 ohm . Videos like this help me decide which way to go in a very different world.

I started in 99. Back when power was 1 watt/ dollar for an ok amp. And always choosing the most efficient subs to marry it to. Now u can get over 10 watts/ dollar and as many Amazon subs as your ride can hold 😂

As a skar fan I’m pretty impressed they made it so far for their price

@@TCKBUBBAI have two of the evl 15s with 3000 a piece at 1 ohms for about 6 months and I run them wide open all the time with no trouble and I love them. Got them for 50 bucks a piece brand new at a yard sale😂

Musically the CT sounds sounded better

As someone who has experienced both Skar and CT Sounds, they each have their place. Both have the quality their price affords. I would love to see some Meso vs Zvx tests. Check out the top tier of each brand too.

I'm running a 18" Tropo in my home theater and it slams! Using a JBL Cinema Sound enclosure approximately 7cf and tuned to around 25HZ. Mackie M1400i powering it 635 watts per coil @ 2 ohms I have the 2 ohm version. It is so powerful it takes your breath away. If I'm not careful I might need a new house.

I had a pair of those Skar SDR-10 for 2 years. Banging as loud as possible and never had any issues. They wanted more power. Next I'm getting the SVR-10's.

I’ve had (1) Skar 10” SDR DVC2 hooked up to a RP800 in my 20’ Honda Civic and then upgraded my amp to Down4Sounds JP8 with “Huge” power gains! I then purchased (1) of the Skar SVR 10” DVC2 in factory Skar enclosure and my new combo made one hell of a difference in power/watts and also less voltage being pulled on my new Interstate Battery (NoMoreBlinkingLightsatNight) I swapped for my factory Honda battery and as advertised the SVR sub takes a licking and keeps on ticking!#🔊❤️#Skar#10”SVR#JP8#InterstateBatteries@David Nieves Jr.

I was going to say that's a clear win for both subs but at the end it was obvious better when for the CT sounds

I really enjoy these sub comparison videos

The single tinsel leads are plenty big enough for that power rating, and you proved it because the epoxy on the coil gave out before the leads did. I've rebuilt 5 Skars for different people, and the coils separated on all of them, but they only do that when they're overpowered or constantly run past clipping for long periods. So it's not Skars' fault, but they could use coils with higher temperature epoxy.

I've only had the Skar EVL's until I went to Sundown. But I've seen so so many ppl blow them SDR's. I'm just over Skars lineup all together honestly🤷‍♂️ Skar will only get you so far.

I've got the 12" tropos in my car. I don't punish them as much as Parker did for damn sure and I'm super happy with them.

Skar is a all around good sub. Ppl hate on it but overall it's a good sub. Not great but good. It will give you plenty of bump without breaking the bank. Are there better 🤔 yes most definitely but it's all about what the wallet can stand & what your goal 4 the bump is.

I got one sealed @1.4 cubes in my civic @1 ohm . Bout 800w out of the PA Razor 2500D. Korean made pretty solid. Its great for the price. In a 2.2 cube kerf ported box bout 30" port area, it was ripping the Honda apart. Yeah it'd be nice if it had a little more xmax handled some more power but I can't put a bigger amp in my car anyway without upgrading all my electrical. Perfect for me.

I got skar fsx in the doors and a ctSounds tropo in the trunk. Sounds good.

Never bought a CT sound product I didn't like. Skar on the other hand....

Loved this , there’s another guy I follow all he does is blow up subs love it lol! I was about to order the new ct ozone 12 but went for an American bass instead which I love , def from your influence , but def would love to see a review of the ozone since you are on a ct sounds kick. CT Sounds for the win far as budget woofers goes!

A couple of years ago when I bought the SDR18'S the biggest factor iny decision between them & Tropos was Skars 2yr warranty vs CT's 90 day. I'm not sure if that's changed since then. My only disappointment with the SDR'S on the website it states copper VC but the shipping box said CCA. I had no issues with them and they sounded great for the price. Don't think you'd go wrong either way.

I think the comparison was excellent, but I'm totally biased toward the skar because I believe they have what beginners and intermediate basshead fans want. Affordable and sound great. CT sounds are amazing but who really are going to exceed there subs specs unless they have money to throw away. Either one would be good for me. I wouldn't be free airing them anyway. Thanks for the experiment and video. You always give us the informed choice.

In 1982 i put Weldwood contact cement on my 21" KRACO SUBWOOFERS, they still bump at 8000 rms

I have 3 8 inch skar sdr on 1,500 Watts they sounds very good can't beat them for the money. I've had them for around a year with no issues at all.

My box is tuned too 32hz I made it myself. Doing that made the subs sound so much better and louder with less power.

Hey. Idea. Put a fuse on each of your speaker wires to prevent amp blow. I’m not sure the amperage. Very little I’d imagine for the A/C. Rockford fosgate has a fuse system I believe.

If you are searching for the next subs to test, I would like to see you test the Savard HiQ subs! They are not a big name brand but they have been around for decades, they have great customer service, and the owner of the company (Will Savard) has even commented on a video that I put up showing the HiQ 12” sub!

You can't go wrong either way. I've got a couple sdr 8's and I have no complaints. Got my money's worth

Check out some of Sam Hunt’s music. He has some nice bass lines in his songs.

What stood out the most for me was the cleaner sound of the CT Sounds subs, especially at the lower frequencies. You can clearly hear the SDR's produce the "woofer noise" when they go below the tuning frequency of the box

That's known as unloading which can be overcome with a well tuned amplifier using the subsonic filter.

I blew two sdr’s on an audiopipe apcle1800 with no clipping.. bass knob about 1/2 up. And yes they where broken in fully

A good one might be the taramps I see they are making 12 subs now, you can put it up against something of a similar price point. Let's see if they are any good.

Nice. I own some of both. Ive got 4 zvx8d2 on a tmd8k 1ohm. Never had an issue. I've got some ct10d4 in the danger ranger. Thd3k. Sounds great. Again no issues. I think most people run into trouble by not having the electrical not not backup the power being used. Just my thought.

Well, being someone who has massive audio, meso, rf prime, rf p3, rf t1, re audio, meso, ct tropo, orion hcca, dc audio lvl3, and lvl5, mtx, skar, dayton audio, nvx, american bass, arc audio, and countless others over the years I can tell ya. I've even built my own over the years. And yes I have my own custom built motor using rare earth magnets. I've even bought the magnet wire and anodized foil to build my own voice coil. Just cause I can. It all depends on what you want and your budget. I never run manufactured boxes however. Always custom build mine. I even updated to dats 3 a few years ago for testing my subs. I can say this though. It's hard to beat skar price vs what you get. Hence the pic you see on my post. I was told skar sucks by a budy. He doesn't say that anymore. Mind you it's on 14k rms so it's underpowered but I never had a failure of amp or subs. A lot of smiles and few holee sheets and even a couple say oh hell no. The best sounding I've ever had though by far was focal mids and highs with re audio subs And jl audio amps with an epicenter and kenwood front end. Give you goosebumps while your hair stands up all over your body. I haven't done bass contests personally since 97. But I'm still a basshead. I even have to admit my old Toby 12 still kicks arse. I still like to go to shows here in texas. I just really don't care about competing anymore. Traveling to much and going def of coarse. So do what you can with what you can afford. If you like it who gives a sheet what anyone else thinks. It's yours. Just never stop improving on it. Being an electronics technician for cnc machines I've even improved myself on setting up systems using my scope. I do my own amp repair as well. I'm even a liscenced electrician. I also went to itt tech years ago for design and drafting. So all of this means nothing to anyone else. It's just my way of stating to never stop doing what you really enjoy while learning to improve and hone your skills at it. No I don't really build for the masses anymore. I'm just trying to pass on what I've learned over the years to a new generation. Can't let the bass die.

I have both in 10 inch small enclosure. The skar in a box with a big opening and the CT Sound does have a hole so I drilled 2 quarter size holes in the box. The CT Sounds is 800 watts the Skar is 1200. The CT Sound has a deep heavy bass pick up but it’s not as loud as the Skar and it gets hot faster and shuts down. The skar is louder and it never gets hot but it doesn’t have the sound quality as the CT Sounds. But my box can also play a big factor too. I’m about to replace the CT Sounds with another Skar.

What subs would you run in your next build. Out of any brand?

I have these CT Sounds 12s with a T 1500.1 CT Sounds amp and it hits so hard! CT Sounds 💯

I know that skars boxes are only 5/8" thick MDF, but their Bed liner boxes are 3/4" ... Now CT front baffles are 1.25"!!! and the rest of the boxes are 3/4" and sometimes 1" thick in some areas

Thats what my SDR did on rated power (SFB600D) after 7 months of playing music in a small sealed box. It got so hot it melted parts of the fiberglass mat I had used to line the box...

I had the sdr, but switched to kicker due to efficiency. My car only has an 80amp alternator. Kicker cvr is louder with less power.

I’ve never had good luck with skar. Always coke with scratchy coils or don’t last very long. CT sounds have always been better woofers for me personally.
