    CT sounds is underrated in my opinion. I put a 10 in a probox and it slammed pretty good for the amount I paid. $20 for the sub and $20 for the enclosure. By far the best $40 system I've ever heard.....

    Thank you for taking the time to make a video, for our entertainment. And, thank you for your honest and real world review, just like most consumers would test these subs in their cars. I've had the same exact experience with Skar Audio, even their ZVX 12 came a part on rated power, very dissapointing. Great job on video and thank you.

    I watched all your subs test and listened to your advise for the NVX..i've now had it for a month installed in a small sealed box...i replaces an old 12 in YAMAHA YCS-1212 (bought when YAM were doing car audio) which had given many years of service, the amp is a CLARION APA1100 sub amp that i had the chance in the past to compare and choose many years ago, i listen mostly to old prog rock, RUSH-MARILLION,FLOYD etc where you often find 25-30 hz bass pedal or synth. as you said in your conclusion the NVX is for higher end sound quality...and i confirm that it goes in theese HERTZ area naturally without any `boosting``. Totally satisfied ...for the money spent. thanks

    I had that nvx sub in a 15" once and it's actually easily a SQ sub it sounded awesome one of the best I've had but the VCW sounded awesome too but it took quite a beating., The vsw is not a high wattage sub it will take decent power just not for extended times,, I did burn it up really pushing for 5 min or so but imo it was pressurizing a mini van quite well for a cheap sub with a small motor.

    I replaced a skar vd 8 rated at 400rms for a ct sounds bio 8 rated at 250rms. They were running on an alpine 500w amp when the coil separated on the vd. I’ve since replaced the alpine amp with an ignite amp that puts out around 900rms on an amp dyno. The ct sounds subwoofer did so well on 900 watts that I bought another one to go in my truck. I also have a sundown ev3 15 running a crescendo bc3500 daily in my wife’s car. All I can say is sundown and ct sounds both can both take the power and abuse. Unbelievable what the little ct sounds bio would do but I think we all expect the best from sundown!

    If your enclosure and especially the port is mismatched, your impediance can get lower as recommended for the woofer. This will result in higher current and therefore more heat in the voicecoil. Also the detached spider could be a result of a misalignment. The wrong port can cause extreme high spider deflection at low frequences. For fair results the speaker must have the right enclosure/port.

I sold those two 12s and the Lanzar amp to that kid for $150 (which is what I paid for everything) and he loved it. That amp only pushed out like 100 watts, but he loved it and said that it bumped in his Accord, and that's what it's all about.

    Just an idea but maybe you should do the RMS test first and then send the crazy power and do your loud DB test at the end. That was awesome - thanks for taking the time to do this man - you're efforts are most helpful With that said, any chance you could do some tests on sound quality also? Not sure how this could be done, but I'm trying to setup a system that both; sounds good, and rattles the teeth when need-be Don't know if that's realistic, but would love to see someone cover such a topic personally. Thanks again for all your help - love your work

    I cooked a Skar SDR 12 fairly quick. It wasn't a terrible speaker but a bit muddy and pretty narrow range but would definitely get loud. Once it loosened up it had a nice boom in my vented box. I switched to a Skar SVR 12 and it was worth the $30-$40 price difference. It hits deeper, sounds better on the high end bass, plays smoother, and is a bit louder on the same setup. Much stiffer and that is probably why the break in seemed to take longer and quite a bit heavier. I had my sub in 2 days on each order.

    Super informative. A few guys do the amp dyno's but you are the only one that tests subs out that I've seen. One question? When they rate these subs should they be rated with one continuous tone at the RMS wattage or just as you did with music ?

    @chadjay828

    Out of the cheap entry woofers the tropo is prob the nicest looking one. I don't use entry woofers but for someone looking for something cheap to get their bump on these are decent woofers to start with. And the skar SDR is ok but If I was starting out n doing the cheapest route I'd pass the SDR and go with the svr instead. The svr walks the SDR for what $20 more lol. Well back then anyway. But they could also run the DDX 10" 12" for $150 and get really good sound and SPL.

    Lol that's interesting, my sdrs have been running strong at rms for a couple of years now and I had one wired up wrong for a month. I'm probably gonna be buying NEP when I build another system, they're one of the only company's that makes the majority of their sub here and I like their design and price point.

    The Skar sdr is very underated imo had 8" at rms 400 for a year and can handle up to 500 so you might have a defective one and box tunning is important. Definitely a great sub all day, hits harder than my Memphis

    I had 2 of those Soundqubed 10 ported tuned to like 30hz off a Digital Designs 1500w and those things took insane abuse for about 4 years. Put them in my girls car off a CT sounds 1000w and they have been going solid in her car for almost a year now. Audiopipe def does good with the budget category, but you cant get much better than those Soundqubed subs for the money. The CT sounds subs are good too but idk... Hard to beat Soundqubed at this price range.

    Im in the process of putting together a budget subwoofer system, have an empty JL Basswedge pre-fab box.. which is a fantastic design and built well. Perfect for Sedans as you can face it forward, Back, up or down... because of the design.. I have 1 SDR 12 on order... but Im thinking I should of went with the HDS2.... Also some other contenders are the Resiliant Sounds Entry 12 ($135) and the TORO Fierce 12.. ($129) has a striking resemblece to one the American Bass Subs.... I'd be willing to pay the extra $35 to $40 to get a quality build sub that will last. Decisions.... Decisions....

    Best 15's under $100?? My main priority is sound quality but i also want loud. Have my eyes on skar sdr's, american bass XO's, NVX' VS, and audiopipe tss-pp2-15. All roughly the same rms and price, except the audiopipes which are going for 75 on ebay. Any advice or other sub suggestions?

    I have two of the Soundqubed HDS2 12" in a 3.6 cu ft box slot port tuned to 42hz wired to one ohm running on a Rockford Fosgate Prime R500X1D. It is has a nice thick response, with good edge on the attack. It makes for a perfect daily setup in my 05 Scion XB. Pity on the Skar, I was considering getting the IX 12 for another daily project. I am digging the hell out of that Sundown. Then again all roads lead to Sundown! :)

    All the audio groups I see talk about the skar sdr's everyone says to keep them at rms they aren't competition grade subs. They are only 80 bucks too, mine have been fantastic but I run the rp1200 on them so they stay at rms. I'm thinking of getting sundown or some sound cubed for my next build.

    I will always be a Sundown Fan. They do a great job on their woofers. Say what they mean and mean what they say. If you are at all into S.Q.? Want to do a REAL build with their woofers? Want specs that match the box almost every single time? That's the way to go. And they have a great customer service. It takes them a bit sometimes. But they really will get the job done. NVX: My choice for sound quality on a budget price. CHeck out their amp mods you can do to make them S.Q. Fantastic. AUDIOPIPE: The Goofy looking sub that could do it all! LOL! I HATE the look. But damn. They work! And work hard!
