I sure am excited for next summer, I have to go back! I remember going to the post office, seemed like every one was waiting to get the mail, a great way to get to know folks, I live in Maine , I remember the LOVE BOAT came to Sitka and they said that every woman can come aboard, she will have a dressy dress and high heels, the only one that was able to on the boat was the cleaning lady at the pioneer home!

I lived there in 1971 It sure has changed I remember taking the ferry boat from Sitka to Mount Edgecomb

I think Id like to go back to Sitka one day and spend some actual time there rather than the 5 or so hours I spent trying to sleep on a bench in the airport on a layover with one other person who Im sure was the only other person in the airport doing the same.That was actually a pretty surreal experience

Hello, KZread people, I am hoping for a little help writing a scene set at Crescent Harbor, Sitka, Alaska. My characters are waiting to take a ferry or water taxi to one of the small islands. Is there a little shop with souvenirs, fishing tackle, and a cafe where they could get coffee and donuts while they waited? Really appreciate any help you could give. Pictures of this place if it exists would be a bonus. Having a hard time finding these little details on the websites and internet. Thanks a lot.

Because this city was established Russians as Novo - Arkhangelsk, when Alaska was part of Russia.

Колись там рускі імперці вирізали місцеве населення і побудували свій флот. Назвали Ново Архангельск. Главним там був Баранов. Так і називається острів. Потім рускі получили п#зди і тепер всі щасливі😁.

@@user-hv2ye9pg4iНи кто местное население не вырезал, конфликты были и не более, тем более когда русские туда прибыли, с ними было много алеутов с комодских островов, понятно хохлопчик.
