  • @dahawk8574

    @dahawk8574

    5 жыл бұрын

    A nice way of indicating that this movie project was something that was going to be phenomenally special. That this project was far more than just a movie. It was a story that would point to a solution for an illness which pervades our species even through to today. Gandhi, the person, went on to influence people like MLK. But he himself was influenced by people like Tolstoy, who was influenced by Emerson & Thoreau, who took the teachings of people like Jesus to heart. So the story of Gandhi is far more than a Hindu story. It encompasses a Christian story. It is the deepest of all types of stories. It says, here is a basic problem with the human race. This might be the standard way of dealing with that kind of problem. But there are those who have let us know that we have an alternative way. And I am choosing to walk this path of this alternative way. So the synchronicity experienced by Ben Kingsley, and generously shared here with us, helps to underscore the magnitude of the message in his story. This movie changed my life. Permanently. It helped me find a new path. And I did not look back. I expect it had this impact on many people. And Ben Kingsley himself. The man born as Krishna, living up to the name his parents gave him.

    That's a nice idea but the people who are like that for the most part can't be fixed because that part of them has been destroyed or worse not even given the chance to develop. Psychological studies of psychopaths/psychopathy (and to a lesser extent sociopaths) show that kindness and understanding only give those individuals a greater insight into how to be better psychopaths. Sadly containment is the only option.

    _Gandhi_ was one of the first "serious" movies I remember watching as a child. I didn't fully understand who Mahatma Gandhi was. My mother explained he was kind of like Martin Luther King Jr which helped it make sense, but nonetheless, I was absolutely entranced and invested in "the world of the play," except it's not a play, it's actual history. I asked my dad things like, "How did they know to turn on the camera?" for certain parts of the story and things like that because I didn't yet understand how filmmaking works.
