I remember when the original came out. It was emotional then and I didn’t think this video would affect me like it did. I sobbed. The older I’ve got, the more crap I’ve gone through, it just hits harder. I was impressed that Mark’s voice hasn’t changed at all. Nice touch supporting your brother QoFy. 😊 I was on his livestream and he did an impressive sermon. 🫶🏻

The "girl" in the video is JennaLee Wasserman. She is 33 and has Downs Syndrome. She is a wonderful Christian who loves Mark Wills music and learned to sign "Don't Laugh at Me" as a gift for Mark. She has been on stage with him before. She works at Chick fil A, loves country music, college football and baseball, has a fantastic supportive family! She was over the moon to be in this video.

A beautiful collaboration. Mark Wills is a great singer. And then my favorite group Home Free in the background sounds fabulous. A beautiful song and video with a sad subject and important message. I know what bullying is. Not by children, but by the teachers. My father taught me never to show your weakness. So I didn't tell anyone. I let it go and thought I could handle it. But I developed a fear of failure and inferiority complex about it. Fortunately, I had and have very dear family and friends around me, who unconsciously dragged me through it. It was only when I was 57 years old that I went to therapy for it. It's so good that it's getting attention. Because bullying has to end. Think about what you're doing to someone like that.

Yes social media bullying is horrific. I mean, jeez- why can’t they just let folks be? We all come in different shapes and sizes, abilities, colors , etc. Why do some people get so mean about that?

Great reaction to a great video. I have seen this video reacted to by a few others and everybody seems to think that the girl was doing sign language for the song. I believe that she was doing a tic-toc video in response to the one she was watching at the beginning of the video. Throughout most of the video I was very upset with the 2 bullies, but they were won over with kindness. Then the realization hit me that maybe they were being bullies because they were actually hungry. The only thing they kept doing was stealing his food and they do look a little skinny. That could be the only way they were taught to interact with other people. So maybe they were so happy to each get food that they wanted to show their appreciation and regret. Just a different spin on things, or a small subliminal message. You know Home Free would hide a message within a message. You are one of my favorite reactors.

I loved this song when it came out all those years ago, I was a teenager and it felt like my life. I've always been a huge fan of Mark's so I'm THRILLED he said below he's got new music coming. This song is still as relevant today, as it was then, if not more, which is sad. These songs shouldn't be relevant, songs like this shouldn't be relevant. It should not be normal that somebody is bullied, etc.. but it seems like as the years go by, all that just gets worse. :'( I rarely watch the videos for this song (covers, the original, etc) because the song itself is hard enough to listen to, so having the visuals is too much sometimes.

makes you wonder if the bullies did not have money to but their own lunches and just going for the "funky shirt kid", because he would be an easy target? If they really did these actions just because they mocked his appearance, they would have kicked his butt or something else- stealing ones glasses for instance! I had a few run-ins with bullies who always did that to me, so I had to walk around as a blind person for some time before getting them back, with help from friends and teachers.

I agree that the boy shouldn't have had to make lunch for the other boys, it makes absolutely no sense. That part actually annoyed me a little, no matter how sweet it was in essentials. On the other hand, I'm glad he didn't stoop to their level, and instead went for a pacifist solution... I just wonder what happens after that one time. Does he have to do this every day now? Or would one time be enough? Somehow I don't quite believe in that second option.

Just maybe they were acting like that because they were hungry.

I am an adult and if I in encounter someone online who has a different opinion, I still respect them and I am willing to discuss our differences but as soon as they write a demeaning comment I am gone and if possible I will delete the entire thread. I do my best to treat others as human beings.
