Sing From The Diaphragm - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
Музыка
In this video, you will learn about one of the most important elements in proper singing techniques. How to Sing From Your Diaphragm!
Sing From The Diaphragm - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy
As a professional singer of 40 years now, I'm going to make a bold statement.
Using correct diaphragmatic support is literally the holy grail of great, long lasting, quality singing.
It is the very foundation, core, and cornerstone to all singing.
Without it, you are dead in the water.
Without it, you will never have longevity, consistency, power, range, clarity, pitch, control, and diversity in your singing.
And the odd thing is, so very few vocalists understand how to really use it and how to get it to work for them rather than against them.
And even stranger, how few vocal coaches and instructors know how to use it themselves or teach it correctly.
In this video, I walk you through a snapshot of what diaphragmatic support truly is and how to get started with it.
I sincerely hope this helps you on your journey for singing.

My mother always taught me this since I was a child and I always find myself taking big heavy deep breaths. People in school used to ask me what is wrong with you? What is going on? And my doctors would always test my lungs and oxygen level and even after smoking a cigar I would still be at 99%... Because I always exercised and I always practiced singing from the diaphragm unless I am pushing for those extremely low notes.
I like the "hey" idea.
Thank you Ken! I will leave some time stems for my own practice. The diagraphm situp: 4:15
It was really crazy to myself how just a few of your videos, have gotten me to the point I know I can sing in front of a crowd. The crowd will also enjoy my singing. You are a true light worker Sir, thank you.
One of the best coaches out there Always great ken
The passion, the knowledge, the demonstrations, the details, the experience and the students to prove what you preach are just a few of the things that make Mr. Ken Tamplin the very best vocal coach anywhere. And I can not forget to mention the life story that will literally make your eyes leak salty fluid. You are truly an inspiration Mr. Tamplin! Thank you for all you do and God bless you.
Being Argentinian trying to learn how to sing, and having THIS INCREDIBLE GUY putting Lio Messi as an exmple make me EXTRA proud of my country hahaha. Another "coronación de gloria" i must say....
My old vocal coach always taught me to sing from the diaphragm just like you teach. My 6th grade choir teacher through high school taught the same thing. It made it so much easier to sing.
Your knowledge of the anatomical involvement in singing is pre unbelievable. You go where others don’t or can’t. AND you have the experience to speak with authority. Great job Ken. Thanks for taking the time to do this for all of us.
Fantastic info Ken! Totally spot on. I am a Pilates instructor and we teach the breathing similar to what is required in singing. The tension in the abdominals is where it's at!
Holy hell! breathe through the nose when you can! Warm moisture. Never even thought of that. Sometimes there's a ton of lyrics and I try to breathe as soon as I get a chance in between lyrics and I always do it with my mouth. Never even thought of the nose I am definitely going to work on that. I often dry out and what easier way to dry out than breathe through your mouth. Thank you for doing what you do!
Ken you are a gift.
this is gold, that's why I hear carefully experienced people like you
Thank you for showing us the right way to sing better.😊
Ken you are definitely a great teacher and you show and prove how to sing. I appreciate you sharing your information
Beautiful video ken as always. I appreciate all the hard work.
Thank you so much for this Ken! Keep up the good work we appreciate you a lot!

Ken - I learned more in the last few minutes than I have in the 30 years. Been singing wrong all these years. Looking forward to learning more under your guidance. I will be signing on soon.
I can't wait to start this course
Thank you for everything
Needed this, me being an artist I’m always looking to improve my performance. Thank you sir 💪🏽
Wow, thank you so much for this
You so do know your business, Sir Ken! Thanks for this, it was very helpful! Blessings to you & yours continuously!🌹💜🌍😎
Great post!! I have your course and this just adds proof to what you already teach.
Ken- great as always! I have been fronting a band for over a year now- with the responsibility for 4 hour sets, and these techniques are what keep me going. I am able to do back-to-back shows, days in a row, too! Proper singing is where it's at.
This is key information worth thousands of dollars...Hats off....😎
This is just what I need
Looking healthy Ken! Love your stuff!
Ken's videos are really helpful, even for experienced singers. Nice shirt by the way.
Yet another fantastic learning video Ken, Thank U. Yet another delay 4me, last month rolled my SUV in severe weather & ice, fracturing my C7. Neither my posture or my voice are back to normal yet, but I am tremendously blessed to be alive👍🙏❤️ please throw prayer in for me, and I'll be watching and continuing learning. Thanks for everything, Mark ✌️🎶

@@kentamplin Thank you !!! An inch, or a guess 1-2% a day avg. But everything is gradually coming back. + I know who has my back 🙏 I am happy with a renewed purpose. Have a Blessed day too 😊 !!!!!
My FAV tutorial videos are ones we RE-visit yrs later, where you further break down KEY points about a specific technique, often adding NEW R brained exps/illustrations, that only YOU can do, insurin an old ROAD DAWG, who's only 4 yrs in, will be able to GRASP the full concept.😎 Yeah, these are so helpful along the way cuz ALL techniques must be kept "in check" as new tunes, with new muscle memory are being created. For exp, I SEVERLY NEEDED the Head Voice video , vowel mod scale exercises ya made recently, where there was one UP/DOWN the scale exp that REALLY helped (the fast one at the end), that wasnt in the BEG videos of the past. Im sure MANY others getta good "reminder" of what we STILL NEED to focus on , if musckle memory starts slippin. Thanks Ken!
THIS VIDEO IS GOLD ❤

Amazing info! You da man!
Jay Buchanan from Rival sons is one of the best newer young power rock vocals with so much soul. Guy gets so much power but heard he had some vocal problems, sad cause so young but he's got the best rock voice out there for the newer bands. Got to check them out if you haven't heard the band. Really amazing band.

nowadays opera tenors sounds horrible singing on their throat no open vauwls everything is closed in you can hardly hear them in theaters all belcanto technics are destroid by so called modern teachers and yet people praise them!! but glad you show us the opposite!! thanks ken
Bravo maestro... damn good stuff...
I’ve just started the video, but I had to say you are looking beautiful Ken! We don’t often see you with your hair pulled back. (I love long hair though, not suggesting to go short! Haha!) Have a wonderful day! ✨✨✨
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to learn _Trial By Fire_ by Journey, with Steve Perry singing (or Deen Castronovo). What I am finding is that the verses are sung relatively low and that it's hard to create power behind the low notes. It comes out sounding more wimpy than I'd like... I am trying to concentrate on my diaphragm, but, in a way, it's harder to sing than a high note where you can really get behind it.
💜hi Mr. Tamplin, Another awesome video!!! Hope all is well. 💜💜💜

I love your shirt 😍
It took a long time to get it right. It's going from counterintuitive breathing to both controlled and automated. The decoupling part is difficult to understand until you build the strength to relax where you need to be relaxed.
You were great then and still are !!!

Super important note for people who feel like they struggle to breathe properly. If you feel like you can’t get the air to go in very easily, then you may want to get your thyroid checked. I just found out I have hypothyroidism and after a week of being on levothyroxine medication I’ve noticed my breathing has improved a LOT. After doing some research I learned that difficulty breathing is indeed a symptom of an underactive thyroid. Mine is a severe case, so I was having to think of breathing ALL the time. Now I can just focus on how I breathe, and not how to get the air in. These things should not be that difficult if you’re breathing isn’t being impaired by some underlying condition. If you have trouble doing this stuff then go see a doctor about it. I’d suggest doing research to see if there’s anything else that could be causing it, too. If it’s not the thyroid it could be something else. Hope this helps somebody. Also, there are many symptoms that can show up at the same time when your thyroid isn’t working properly. Depends on how severe it is and also the person.
I think that many vocal coaches mainly talk about the kind of tension in your abdominal muscles where there is no movement at all. Tension in the stomach muscles and no movement is a great recipe for vocal damage. Tension in the stomach+inwards movement is probably the only safe way to belt. That's probably where the confusion comes in.
I always appreciate your information Mr. ken 😄 By the way Messi isn't on barcelona anymore 🙂
I've been learning diaphragmatic breathing for ages n I just really struggle with it still but I have had 3 c-sections so Dunno if that affects being able to do it
Btw u always wear cool n awesome shirts👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

I was wrestling last week and I injured my intercostal muscles. Breathing hurt for a while. Sneezing or coughing still hurts.

Hey Ken! I'm sure breathing is important for singing. I'm not a singer. I just breathe to stay alive. Lol. Sorry, couldn't resist. I must say you have the disco look going today. Growing up in Chicago and being a fan of classic and prog rock I will be nice and just say you look very professional. 😃🤣😎
🙏
Please make a raction vieo to Journey's Lay it down, I think it is one of the most incredible songs that really shows Steve perry's talent.

Ken I sing for 28 years but the last 1 or 2 years I get hoarse after singing and it takes up to 2 weeks to heal. Why is that? My voice cracks and sounds raspy in the high tunes, I'm a tenor but I can't show it off anymore. i sound hoarse always and my head voice is less high and clean because of that. Please help me out... I'm a follower of you for years ❤️

Hi Ken, I've been watching and practicing a lot with ur videos and i wish i can have the money to buy ur course and meet you one day, so anyway, in my 18 years old of singing, I've always had a tendency to gently clench my stomach when singing, and I've always heard that it causes tension in the throat and all that stuff, so i just want to know if that's true or not, cause I sang my whole life like this, and never had trouble with it, but i waste a whole year of non singing because of preassure, now I lost some muscle memory and im working so hard with your videos to gain it back, much love from Paraguay!!!❤

Yo Ken a question. I was...i am struggling with breathing. I was "pulling in" during inhalation and "pushing out" during exalathion, which Is exactly the opposite of what you saying, am i right? I can now breath in and push out, but i noticed something, when exhaling my body wants to collapse. So how do i keep It expanded?

Sing from the diaphragm inner and relax

Can you teach us to sing country because a lot of it is talking? ❤
The one thing I’ve always wondered in vocal theory is where this all originated from? I’m going to guess it was from Italian opera. But even so, who actually sat down and said this is the right way to sing by using this or that?

Your videos are very helpful. I understand this completely, training in Martial arts 30 years my kihap aka [Yell] has actually improved my singing voice over the Years. It took years but I can now belt out songs in years past that I had no chance of singing. In martial arts it's called dantien we also use this during meditation before class. Keep up the great work. 🧘♀️🥋
