Absolutely! The headline is very sensationalist and misleading. She was banned from performing at certain venues in America since the early 90s for holding views about the Catholic Church that have since been absolutely proven to be appropriate. Her career success is definitely not measured by how much money she has made in the states. She’s continued to put out some amazing music here in Ireland and around the world and her music has always been successful: creatively, financially, culturally etc. I’m obviously a fan 😂

I saw her show in Portland, Oregon just before this interview. It was absolutely amazing. The next day, I happened to be getting my hair colored, and the shop was full of other women who also happened to have seen her the night before, and we all talked about how it was the best show we had seen in years, and how moved we were by her presence and her power and her voice. Sinead is an angel. She’s affected many people through many emotional life moments, educated us on forgotten history and the context for how remembering is so important, she has educated many about mental health and our love of her has shown us how important mental health is and that we shouldn’t fear it by placing her humanity on it, she’s shown us betrayal, anger, love, forgiveness, thankfulness, and given us such an incredible catalog that will be around forever for others to continue what she has started. She’s shown us everything that makes us human. She’s not unlike an angel sent with a purpose. She is a treasure beyond compare for Ireland. Her renditions of Irish folk songs has reintroduced new generations the beauty of the irish people’s struggle, perseverance, and transformation-something that brings pride to many who may never of pondered the Irish story. She’s earned her wings and the recent death of her son which no mother should ever go through-will only make her stronger and perhaps she will find the strength with the thousands of mothers who have experienced such loss. I believe she will continue on the path she’s been on - showing the world what being human really means. I know I’ve probably failed expressing what I want to say - it’s very hard to parse it to text. So if I fumbled saying it here - well I too am a flawed being and a very bad writer! In a way I believe life definitely has a purpose. A purpose unique to everyone and some people may have been given an unfair portion… perhaps that portion is given by our ability to handle what we’ve been dealt however much or little. Sinead has proven she’s both strong and vulnerable. I believe Sinead’s was sent here for a purpose. And this life of hers is for her soul to transcend to something much greater after. Thank you Sinead for everything. You really have done so much - you are loved and your son will surely be there to greet you soon. You will be together again. Please don’t do anything rash. Be there for your children - all of them.

Absolutely. It is horrible. I am so sorry you ladies went thru that and that your doctors didnt properly educate you beforehand and care for you properly medically. I had a hysterectomy at 44 (due to uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and heavy bleeding from both) before I was going thru any symptoms of menopause and thankfully my gynecologist is wonderful and educated me thoroughly. I decided to keep my ovaries and he only took my cervix, uterus and tubes. So I was not thrown into abrupt and complete menopause. I will go thru it naturally since I kept my ovaries. I truly believe a lot of what Sinead went thru was from the hysterectomy plus from her horrible past of abuse. I'm so happy she has found some peace and is on the right path now. Just watched the documentary Nothing Compares on Sky. She went through alot of trauma in her life. Parents who treated her like dirt. The music industry who clearly wanted her to be this shining star and lets not forget the media who tried to trash her name. All for what she believed in. The trauma of losing her son to suicide. To me she is a strong and powerful women, who stood her ground and believe everybody has a voice. Rest in peace ❤ you are unique Sinead ❤❤❤❤

This woman has experienced pain in some form or another from childhood, to the moment she stepped onto the stage , until today. She has been, and always will be , one of the biggest idols of my life. Not just her music but her honesty and her ability to show the misery and the happiness that life brings. I bought all of her albums in my 20s and I would still support today. If she came to Tennessee , I would not miss an opportunity to see to her. She’s amazing and she’s beautiful and she’s talented. And everybody in their 40s and 50s feels the same way. We love her just as much as we did when we were 20.

I was lucky enough to see her in a small club just after her first album and l will never forget it. To be in her presence in a small room, singing acapella took my breath away. I just saw the documentary and boy..was l shocked about what l didn't know. Her courage is overwhelming. Whatever your politics, you have to give her that. She was attacked for pointing out what we all now know.

@Zecko, there is a God, and He is The Creator. FYI, "truth" only valid within our "sound mind". Crazy people can't justify the "truth", so it is weak. But believe in God goes beyond our limited mind. Our soul and spiritual life needs to be awakened. I pray you'll find the way. Inshaa Allah.

She is an honest artist and always has been. Refusing to be made into something she wasn’t, to sell herself like all the others, has obviously been a fight for her. Her voice now is just as beautiful as it was in the beginning. Before, it was young and raw, full of angst. Now there is more depth in her voice, it’s thicker, like a wound that has had to heal over and over. It moves me more than it did in the beginning. It’s a different kind of beautiful, now. The fact that she is still on this earth is a testament to her unbreakable spirit.

I have always been a fan Sinead. You know those 5-6 cassettes you would listen to until they disintegrated? Sinead Oconnor, Tom Petty, REM, The Police, Nik Kershaw, The Cure and the Smiths were mine. I didn't Judge her because I didn't grow up in Ireland where colonialism and religions had literally torn lives apart. How much anger would I carry for those that stole my heritage banned my language, or caused a daily war to make it impossible for a day to go by without bloodshed? I try to understand, I try not to judge. I didn't know about Sinead's endometriosis. One of those women's diseases, ugh she's on the rag, stop your moaning and get up and go about your day. I suffered from endometriosis also, from the age of about 12. Mine got to the point that every 2 weeks I was in agony that only opiods could ease the pain of. When I'd ovulate, and when I'd menstruate, every 2 weeks. I had operations, saw specialists. At the end, I had a cyst that would enlarge on my ovary and burst every month. The pain was horrendous, and as badly as I wanted children, I couldn't take the pain. My choice was to take strong doses of birth control polls to stop me ever having a period, something I'd done for 10 years, and stopped when I got married and wanted kids. In my case I had other painful, incurable illnesses, so one day, my periods just stopped. Other than telling me it wasn't cancer or early menopause (i was in my 30's) the doctors were even less interested in why my periods stopped than they were in the pain I had when my endo was at it's worst. So I thanked the universe I had one less pain to endure and went on my way. There is a reason that groups use torture and the threat of pain against people to control them and get what they want. It's because we will do anything, anything at all to make the pain stop. When you are trapped in a body with something gone wrong and no end in sight, it will drive you mad. I wish Sinead all the best, in health, in success and in happiness. You are one of the women who made it possible for this generation of women to do and say what they want and not be shut out for the crime of having an opinion, and you'll always have a fan in me. Run your tour through Utah when the quarantine lifts. I've already had my bout with the dread virus and lived to tell the tale, so come through Utah so we can hear the angels sing here on earth, which is what heppens whenever you pick up a mic.
