Gosh, I never realized how tiny she was. And yet, she was so big in so many important ways. You can see her turmoil in her face, she is just one of those people whose pain cannot be hidden very well. I have so much respect for her, as someone who, despite the massive machinery of the entertainment industry that surrounded her, was able to speak her mind even though she knew what she had to say at times, nobody wanted to hear let alone think about. We are not gifted that often by those who can do this, and do it because that is who they really are. We have far too many players who know how to appear as if they are someone with something worth listening too. People who can formulate clever words, posture in the right poses, configure and contort their features in the most convincing of masks. . . Yet once they're off-stage, they're just as everyone else, having fun, living large (because they can), and not living honestly with the pain they claim to be singing or speaking about. Today, more than ever in popular music history, we are drowning in a sea of mediocrity, ego, fantasy, and utter crap.

Sounds like Gabriel heard the grooves offbeat as the onbeat and starts singing on the & of 4 (instead of 1) but Vinnie recognizes it and reverses the time. They’re also reading it (likely no sound check).
Was für eine Schönheit Sinead war - Ihre Stimme, ihr Aussehen, ihre Seele. ❤
This was Sinéad at the height of her career. Her voice playing tribute to this classic in the most glorious and remarkable of ways. Her gentle elfin like beauty, poise and stature evidently captured. I sometimes wish life could have just stood still for her at this time and life’s trials and tribulations had not caught up with her as life progressed and caused her such anguish and sadness. Irregardless, (and alas this cannot be) nothing can take away Sinead O’Connor’s exquisite unadulterated talent . RIP from another 1966 sister❤🇦🇺🌿🦋
Lovely lady captivating voice, and beautiful both inside and out, she'll be sorely missed, Rip Sinead hope you and your Son are at peace now🙏☘️☘️.......
3:00 The look of relief on Peter's face when the band finally "find" the first chorus and Sinead comes in. Good job for a complicated song pretty much unrehearsed.
@Fredo_Viola
9 ай бұрын
That started out so hairy!!! Really stressed me out! But how lovely that they all find their way into the song, even for just a few sections. So many mistakes though, even as the song developed. Gotta feel like a big insult to Peter Gabriel that the artists didn’t know the song well enough to get though it more smoothly. This was not a good performance. I think you are right, this was their one and only rehearsal, live in Chile!

Not sure it's the musicians' fault though. Sinead doesn't take her first chorus either. That said they're kind of slow to adapt. Also it sounds like Sting is not playing in the same tonality as the singers in the end.
@IThinkYouLookLarvely
9 ай бұрын
@@800pieds I considered that, although the first chord to the song's chorus is very distinctive, and the female "Don't Give Up" starts about 3 beats in from that. She didn't get that cue as they simply didn't seem to hit any chord, let alone the right one :D It might have sounded worse if she'd have sung it then (like one of my local pub jam nights). Agree in regards to Sting, it's rather different to Tony Levin's take!

Sinead O'Connor ☘️ ,descansa en Paz .
My mother told me years ago, that her culture, Maori, believed the dead were more influential than the living. Im believing that myself today hearing of Sinead O'Connor, the impact from her death and her life lived was not wasted. Deep self reflection into ones own life her gift she leaves to humanity. Peace arrives via love through suffering, amen.
Her voice is like that of a mother comforting the child that fell, got injuries and feels crushed from shock and pain.
