An astonishingly beautiful, fresh cover of this song. The best I've ever heard. She brings so much heart and life into this performance, it's almost painful to watch, but it's so powerful that you can't turn away.

It’s so sad. And sinking in I’ve been binge listening to her music and have an even greater appreciation than I already did for everything about her

Great song from Jesus Christ Superstar originally sung by Yvonne Elliman. Deeply affected me then and now hearing O’Connor sing it so personally affects me deeply 50 years later. Just wow 😢 goosebumps

yvonne elliman . that was such a beautiful original ... i had the amazing blessing of playing mary magdalene in a production of jc superstar (1992 i think) ... and got to sing this and all the best songs in the show

Her microphone technique is amazing. Note how she turns away to create the voice drop-off and to hit notes which require more volume. Quite unique.

I can hear her beautiful Irish accent in this song. Irish and Scottish voices are lovely to hear through songs❤

She sang from her soul. No other performance of this song came anywhere near this. Reducing me to tears, what a talent the world has lost. Bless her.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I pulled this up, but dang - so nicely done. Sinead sings with such passion and soul. It moved me.

In her interviews she’s talked about her mastery being in performance art. When you watch a performance like this, her microphone technique, to create this sound. It’s simply astonishing!!

I Am so proud of her for being such a true artist even when it wasn't in her interest. I love her to the moon and back. A very important 🇮🇪 legend.

She would have been great in this musical. She once studied acting in order to play Joan of Arc, but the film was never made. She had so many gifts. We're blessed to have her music and videos.

Insanely underrated performance. Not a diehard fan of Sinead but the toggling she does between notes here is so perfect that it nearly sounds robotic or like autotune. It's inhuman and extremely impressive.

Few singers can turn a cover into songs of their own like Sinéad can (and shape them into a sound and feel so definitive). I can think of none that have done so with as many songs as she has.

There is so much to love about this and every time I listen/watch I hear/see something new. My love today is her accent coming through.

Wow. Beautiful. I have loved this song since I first heard the original JC Superstar concept album in 1970. This just became my favorite performance of it. Rest in Joy, Sinead. And my lord...her smile is so lovely.

Although there are other very, very good ones, this is by far the best rendition of this song in the public domain! For anyone who doesn’t know, this song was written for the character of Mary Magdalene and the rock opera film Jesus Christ Superstar. The lyrics are about the character’s love for Jesus.

I think that the most heartbreaking thing is to see a people betrayed by their own government and by capitalism. A people forced to endure the intrusion of foreign races, clamouring for financial security, at the expense of indigenous peoples. I am a British citizen and I am loyal to Britain. How sad is it to see British citizens being betrayed ? I will not rest until there is justice.

You wouldn’t classify Sinead as a soul singer in the way we classify soul music, but how pray tell could you not call this soul music? Who pours their soul into a song like this? She will be so sorely missed.

May her soul rest in peace and may Sinead RIP such a Beautiful person be reunited with her Beautiful son Shane RIP . This seems to be my favorite performance by middle aged Sinéad O'Connor. I think the song lends itself to a throatier, mature voice.

The best rendition of this song I've ever listened to...the feeling she puts out, speaks directly to the listener... It's no surprise she has so many.
