I agree

a little suggestion from a cake decorator, if you dip your tilted spatula in water before smoothing the cake you can get the layers as smooth looking as fondant. Another thing I like to do with this particular cream cheese frosting is that I will skip the sugar and often add a little extra flavoring like lemon, orange or my favorite almond. The less sweet frosting matched with the sweet cake I find to be far more flavorful and still incredibly rich. (I love doing the marscapone as well) I once added a few tablespoons of almond flour to my frosting and it was to die for.

kitt kat I have the same exact situation and I’ve tried this as well and it was perfect!

I made this cake yesterday. It was absolutely wonderful. It tasted better chilled the next day for some reason after it had been sitting covered in the fridge. Her baking recipes are perfect.

I love the simplicity but top quality of this cake and Ms Stephanie is an absolute joy!

This cake came out AMAZING. I added some lemon juice instead of zest to the sugar and used a whipped cream frosting and it will definitely be a staple in my house, especially because of the price of butter. Thank you!

also word of warning she messed up with the sugar you should put around 200 grams but my preference is 170 grams

hey....i just tried this recipe, i doubled the amounts precisely and to my amazement this cake was oh so lovely... its soft, moist and not too sweet. Thank you so much for sharing and i will be trying more of your other recipes

I've made at least a dozen of your recipes and I've become a better patisserie with every recipe. And the fact that they all taste identical to my late great-grandmother's recipes is an added nostalgic bonus. Thanks for your hard work.

I love how there's no butter in this recipe, last year I made this with my cousins from thailand, and we frosted it with your buttercream frosting recipe! It was outstanding!! 32 minutes later. It is now 10:44 pm. It did not feel like it was this long. I usually skip through videos but this one I enjoyed. I recently started baking. I’ve been looking for a vanilla cake recipe. I’m going to give this one a try.

Steph, love your videos! I’ve just made the sponges and cream filling minus mascarpone as I didn’t have any. Have yet to put it together and add the syrup or cut it without a fancy turn table but so far it looks like it has been a success. Will give feedback on results and can’t wait to have my dinner so I can tuck in to it xxxx🤞🏻
