    Thanks, Steve! I haven’t come across one of those yet, but I’ll certainly be looking out for it. I learned from Bruce to disassemble and reassemble carbs in a baking pan to contain errant parts, so I don’t expect to lose that jet, but knowing ahead of time which way it goes in certainly helps. 🔧👍

    I’m working on a video today to show how to swap out this Nikki carb with a much better designed Walbro carb. I should have it finished for posting by next weekend. Thanks for watching, Bruce knows his stuff and has great tips and knowledge to share. Thanks for watching! Hey Bald eagle... I've had quite a few of these nikki carbs where the tiny O-ring had deteriated ..they leaked fuel into the crank case..causing bad problems.. it's not a bad carb i know a lot of small engine machanics that hate them..i always tell them at least it can be repaired.. it's the fuel that attacks the O-ring..i use non ethanol fuel in all of my equipment no problems after 3 years.. Nice picture of your grandad you got hanging on the wall..lol.. Cheers 🍻🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    Thank you my friend! I’ve got an entire series on these carbs and the issues they cause and how to repair them. It’s not a difficult carb to work on but your correct the fuel most of us use from the pump with ethanol is the detriment to many of the rubber parts in these carbs. Check out these videos and let me know what you think. 👇 kzread.info/head/PL5_ZXmQpcjpbPG_TA7E8TDh-9PVRx7_xb&si=aIjxJrU4PlcXW0Dx

    Thank you, I was not certain which end the fuel jet should go in the float bowel. I had put it back in correctly but did not want to put everything back without together without being certain to the correct way. By the way, the leaking fuel is no more and the engine fired up on the second pull.

    Thank you John. This one was in response to a lot of questions and comments I get on the previous Nikki carb video. I didn’t take the time to thoroughly explain these steps. Since I had one apart today I figured I’d show more details on the assembly process. Hopefully this will help a few people to understand how it goes together better.

    Good deal, I still remember my first Nikki carb, dropped the jet out and had no idea which way it was supposed to sit in there. 50/50 shot and it was right the first time. I've never forgot that one. Oh and it was way before youtube. 🤣🤣

    Thanks for these tips. Do you happen to know what the screw specs are? The Phillips heads on mine are easily stripped (they must tighten these with a gorilla) when removing, and I'd like to replace them with a hex or torx head bolt.

    Quick question. Just rebuilt the Nikki carb on my craftsman lawn mower watching your video. Worked great and solved my leaking gas into oil problem. I changed oil and filter too. Mower runs great on run but backfires and hunts at low idle. What do I need to do? Screw adjustments? I put them where they were. But I’m not sure how much to mess with them and I assume it’s the low idle jet screw? Any help Would be appreciated. At least I’m back mowing

    The adjustments on these carbs doesn’t do a whole lot. My suggestion is take the adjustment screw all the way out and make sure the pilot jet is fully open.

    Will do. I also need to double check that the throttle return spring is working correctly. It got a little stretched when I pulled it and I had to tweak it when I put back on. Probably not the culprit but worth a check. Mowers running great at full throttle now that I changed out the polluted oil and rebuilt the carb. Your video really helped me to get both o rings and the main jet back in correctly

  • @tombley5760
    @tombley5760Ай бұрын

    It's an expensive repair if you need to buy a kit for 2 o-rings.

    Not repairing this can be much more expensive. If you’re not going to repair this I recommend putting an inexpensive fuel shutoff in the fuel line and turning the fuel off every time you park the mower. Here’s a video that goes into much more detail. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aoqstrSqer3PYLQ.htmlsi=cQs9f_mzl5G7AlHX
