In this video I show a simple rig I made to hook onto my mini van so I can plow snow. It takes literally a minute to hook it up and take it off. And its tough!

That's it! I'm making one for my truck tomorrow! No more shoveling!
Can you show us how to put the chains on and what thickness of wood you use .Great video by the way
Probably the coolest thing I've watched on KZread this week. Thumbs up man!

Jesus, Jay. you need to stay in more. Try ColinFurze youtube channel he makes things too. I must warn you though, if you found this exciting, ColinFurze will probably give you a heart attack.
I have been absolutely amazed at the tools and methods you have shared so far on this channel but this takes the cake. Leave it to a crazy newfie to come up with such a simple and practical tool. Thanks again for sharing. I spent more than 20 years north of 60 and really hate snow.
I love this sort of "do something with what you've got" engineering. Great stuff!
ingenuity is the mother of invention. LAZINESS IS HIS FATHER!!!!!!!!!!! ROFL... I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!
After 7 years posting this video still is worth it . Keep uploading more smart videos. Tnx lot
Excelent idea, good for country home or an open area, not for standard city drive way, because usually we have to shovel the snow in a very reduce space area, but your idea is very good,1000 times better than snow blower,no more bussines.......
So awesome! My snowblower just seized up so I made myself one of your plows. It works great! Thanks so much!!

That's awesome. I would imagine a lot more will catch on to this as well. Just make sure you use light duty chain so that if you hit something solid it will just break a chain.
Looks like a "Red Green" episode.

If they don’t find you handsome they should at least find you handy!
Cool. I like the way it drags loose when you go forward. No need to lift up the blade.
i love simple innovative ideas. great little setup
A real "red necK' SNOW plow. and you are very good at backing .. congrats
Very smart & creative, I enjoyed watching.
Good stuff man Thats what you call looking out of the box . Thumbs up bud !
I saw a man with 3 snow throwers chained to the front bumper of his Toyota pickup. :p
Great video. Love your idea.
Love the ingenuity!
Awesome! Now I know what to do with my wife's windstar!
Ingenious! Who da thought? Thanks for sharing!
You did a great job!!!
That's brilliant, I almost wish we had snow here so I could try it out...almost!!! :-)
love the video and idea awesome!!
Awesome job my friend
LOL, wow! I have to admit thats pretty amazing! I would have never thought it would have worked so well. Well done sir :) You must be really good at driving in reverse by now ;)
I cannot believe this works. very good man... you are the man :))))
awesome!!!and it works...very good im impressed
Nice, that works really well.
That mini van is a beast.
You sir are a genius!
Dude you are a bad ass. i have like the that hooks to my truck in the front (the truck has a 2" reciver ) but mine was 1000.00 bucks.great idea.
OK....NOW I've seen it all.....very impressive!
That is cool Keep with the great ideas
Thanks. Sure beats the heck out of shoveling!
Oh Yea Man! I gotta make one of these. Clicking on the second video.
LOVE this idea!
thats nuts lol..and pure genius..i may try this ha
Very ingenious, I might do the same with a 99 Chevy Venture. I just have to fix the head gaskets and put some snow chains on it n' were good.
A very cool tool!
That's a cool idea.
That old van seems happy to please!
I have to admit, when I first saw the title of this I was skeptical. Looks like it works pretty well though. Genius.
Cool man. Been thinking about making one for the past few years.

Thanks Jim. I'll tell ya, this was well worth making. It used to cost me $60 a storm to get plowed out. Now it cost me a few minutes of fun time lol. I used to dread snow, Now I honestly cant wait!

Not trying to take anything away from this invention, but for a car without the same seat attachments as a van, the following link may be helpful. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZWxr0pRqkpjVicY.html
genius!
Ok won’t lie at first I was like here we go. Then I watched. And was like. Ok. Well that actually works and works well
your a Genius
Love it.
That's an interesting concept..what I found more amazing was the amount of traction that van gets..'I've seen big heavy duty trucks slip and slide under the same conditions..go figure...lol
So simple that it actually works.
i wonder if a air bag system would go off if it hit a stump you did not see , but other than that i love it good thinking , necessity is the mother of all invention .
Ingenious! Do be careful of the exhaust pipe!
If everyone spent a couple hours per week just thinking and tinkering, we'd have lots of ingenious inventions just like this. Another guy did one that drags behind the car with cinder blocks holding it down. Check out "0 $ 10 Min DIY Snow Plow". These guys are both setting an excellent example.
Cool! I don't like backing into my own exhaust, though.
Here is another video showing more of how I made this and some more plowing CRAZY SIMPLE "Mini Van Snow Plow" 2

Wooden Tool Man your one smart guy good idea
amazing
You know I did this back before internet was around and people made fun of me. 😂😂😂Now I see more people doing this .
Genious!
I started off thinking, "Knock knock." "Who's there?" "A man and his door. Can I plow your snow?" "You drunk?" (Door slams) Well, I'll be damned! It works!.
I made this and it worked.
You should make some skids that lift the edge of the "blade" up when you are going forward then you don't drag as much snow on the reset. It could be as easy as 2x4 blocks on the backside corners of the blade
Now that's using your Noggin best video yet mentally satisfying
Genius
Awesome
Now I gotta go bye a van so I can make a plough. That was banging, I was only checking my woodwork Chanel's and now ????? Gee you thrown me into a real tiz. AWSOME
OMG, I would've been out there swinging a shovel for a couple hours, maybe end up in the hospital.
Sunnyvale Trailer Park? Canadian accent? Definitely a Trailer Park Boys side project that Trevor and Corey didn't have the chance to screw up.

Lets watch this guy plow snow. Not really interested in how its rigged, but watching you plow snow is all I care about.
what happens if you get a foot or more, do you hook it up to that truck
Did you hook up a backup beeper or what? That was a great idea and video! Thanks! Merry Christmas!
Dang ,that definitely beats shoveling ,smart man ,great idea, wow
What are the dimensions of the plywood that you were using? Also, how thick is it? It does a great job. :-)
Can you attach this to back of truck and use with tailgate open
At first I wanted to laugh, but it did the job just fine.

THis rig impresses a lot of people once they see it in action. Welcome to the club lol
Sweet
? how thick is your plywood ? thanks
What are you using for a plow?
Did the same thing with the front end of an old mobility scooter.
Do you/can you show how to make the 'plow'?
4:27 that moment when you take a deep breath and just take it for what it's worth and understand that it's simply fwd, theres not much you can do about it.. LOL
Guess I don't have any better ideas. Looks as though it works. Any collateral damage?
Awesome plow dude! Best part is at 7:33. Just be careful not to abuse your tranny too much, especially when shifting. Monitor ATF viscosity and temperature frequently. Reverse gear in those windstars is kinda fragile....
neat idea, i passed it on to a few peoplle to try it ,just think what you could do with 4 wheel drive keep plowing , thanks
If you attached castors or skids to the corners on the van side of the blade it would lift the blade enough that you wouldn't drag as much snow back when you go forward.
@Woodentoolcompany2
10 жыл бұрын
Then it wouldn't stand up right either.
does that at all damage the rear bumper of your van? it looks like a simple fix to a pretty annoying problem, but all i can think of is you would have to do this on a vehicle that you don't mind having a few scratches on...
You should call this the polish plow.theres a reason why plows are installed to the front of trucks and vans. 😺😺😺😺
This will save folks from a heart attack.
I was going to get a small plough for my suv (Hyundai Tuncon 2.0L AWD) but my mechanic told me my gearbox is not designed for that sort of use. Not sure if that applies to other suvs and minivans but maybe you could put your gearbox under unnecessary strain

hey guy did you see hes on a very slippery surface no chains or extra weight the weight of the vehicles momentum is doing the work, tranny will last for ever no problem and its an old beater he doesn't care, mostly the old beaters just keep on plowing away
Nice now go finish making the moon shine and have a drink!!
Is this a 4 wheel drive van or front wheel drive?
Is this hard on the reverse gear? Jw
Have the hatch latches gotten bent and screwed up the hatch from closing?
@Woodentoolcompany2
8 жыл бұрын
Not at all. I used light enough chains that if I hit something solid the chain would just break
Who needs a truck wen you've got a van
