❤️🩹🙏🏾😪 Absolutely agree.💯 I love her, and appreciate too her vulnerability along with openness.
So much pressure. She is such a gifted young woman. Glad she took a break to take care of her mental health. 🎁
You have chosen YOU, the most important person in your life !!!!!!!!!! The best decision of your journey. Blessed be xx
I am so glad Simone was brave and confident enough to step away from competing. I am so glad she got the help she needed.
She doesn’t deserve all this and it’s so sad. She holds herself high with all this. She’s a great person and so talented
I'm so proud of her for recognizing that she needed a break. Had she tried to pushed through may have caused her serious injury. It takes a brave person to openly admit that she was struggling. Glad she is doing better. Can't wait to see her in Paris!❤

She needed a break and quit during the Olympics. She was selfish. Someone else didn’t make the team.
@JustRaine97

@@aftertheheadlines she was self aware and smart enough to know it wasn't safe to keep going. With the level of difficulty of her routines, she can't afford to stupidly go out there and still try to perform. It would've meant low scores for her team and possible life threatening injury for her. They have alternates on the team ready to step in.

@aftertheheadlines how was she selfish? The reason she made the team because her scores were high enough to make the team during the trials. If you watched the trials that year, you can see she struggled too but still managed to make it. If she had quit, she would've packed her stuff and head to the US on a plane.

@@aftertheheadlines No she was not selfish. Health comes first. And she still helped USA win a silver and bronze medal.
Um first of we don’t hate her and secondly, good for her for knowing when to stop❤
Such an EXAMPLE. A HERO. BRINGS LIGHT to something that is extremely life changing .....LIFE CHANGING ❤
Initially, I was puzzled when Simone withdrew. Hate? *Never!*

I don't think that America hated her after that preformance in 2021 at Olympics many of her fans knew she was struggling. Once she withdrew from the Olympics a small minority started to hate on her so the opposite happened unforunately.
I dont watch the olympics but i understand the struggle of mental health.
Honestly she is just so admirable. I have terrible anxiety just coping with exams while she's performing for the whole world.
Simone Biles has my full support and admiration. She truly is a GOAT.
So sad she thinks everybody hated her. It’s a beautiful, but dangerous sport. Her life was not worth a gold medal. She’s still the GOAT ❤
She took a break and came back strong by winning many medals at the World Championships 2023
There are definitely still haters out there calling her the quitter or buckle under pressure. But that’s truly about these people who probably need mental help themselves and unaware, and nothing on Simone.

I'm so proud of her! I cant believe the world would ever question an elite athlete (or anyone else) for taking a step back to do what's best for their health. It's wild that even when she's not performing her "best" she still got bronze. truly a legend in our lifetime!❤💚🖤 hope that husband of hers now knows how lucky HE is🙄
Bon jour, Simone 💪🏽💕💜
Simone, you are a fierce and intelligent warrior, human being and athlete! You are absolutely extremely loved and admired and there is no need whatsoever to apologize for taking care of your mind, body and spirit. I live with complex PTSD. I was also a gymnast. I have survived several traumas. It took me 34 years to talk about the traumas. Therapy really does work! The way you stand up for yourself and others is absolutely amazing and SO much braver than most people understand. Staying in shape helps with overall health at whatever level you choose! There will come a time, you will know, when to retire. You are the best! It will all be okay. Others may never understand, but that is okay. You have probably saved so many lives by speaking out ... thank you! ❤
❤She is the greatest 🙏🏾🧘🏾♂️🫶🏽
We all have to deal with mental health at some part of our lives were human and we go through different traumas. However she is beautiful and successful black woman. I imagine my child seeing her in text books in school someday.❤❤❤

She's so honest and refreshing ❤

Choose you and work on YOU 🌸
as a former competitive gymnast, i can relate. she’s so awesome for being able to stand up to coaches for her own health. so many coaches will actually take you out of competition all together just to spite you. good on her.
So happy she is sharing! It is so important!
I can only imagine what she went through. A lot of people had a lot to say but they'll never be in her position. That break did great things for her. Gotta put YOU first.

Simone how you handled yourself after everything was amazing, amazing, amazing. Even the behavior guys knew you were legit. But how you supported the team was commendable.
It was good Simone spoke out. She’s a young woman not a robot.
Simone we always loved you, watched you since 2012, even if you could never compete again, anything, you are a gift to this planet. If anyone dislikes you its because they dislike themselves.
The severity of mental illness affects more people than reported. Most of these individuals suffer in silence for fear of being judged and alienated because it’s so misunderstood. Some disorders like Bi Polar for example don’t have a cure. There might be medications that help but it’s an ongoing painful struggle. Imagine trying to fit in… Please don’t be so quick to judge😢❤
I’m so proud of Simone for listening to her body and taking time for herself 💜
I think people don't realise that actually most of sports performance, especially in competitive situations, is mental. So good for her for caring for her mental health - especially because with something like gymnastics having to perform like that when you have a mental block can be extremely dangerous.
It's good she is getting the help and she's back on top. I'm sure it was a multitude of reasons but I also think one is she put so much pressure on herself and also bought into the whole GOAT thing. I found putting the GOAT on her leotard and setting herself up so that anything but a win was failure was probably too much. I think its best to let your actions speak for themselves. Love her as an athlete but found that a little off putting... Glad to see she seems to be beyond that now.
Thank you Simone for setting the standard that it's ok to take a step back and work on your mental health. Hope you get back to the Olympics and prove you never lost it. Go Simone. Go USA!!!
I’m very proud of her for doing what she did. As a person who’s had a full and various successful career it was very difficult for me to pull the plug on it because of my mental health. People need to understand that even those who have success can be battling demons and it’s important for those people to know, that doing what everyone expects you to do isn’t the best thing. Doing what you can do and should do is the only thing that should matter.
Simone, You took a major step to take care of your mental health. You are such an admiration to us all. Onward to Paris for the 2024 Olympics. ❤
ppl have talked ab her hair & even the man she's chosen to marry. give this girl a break. she made history & we should be celebrating her. she's representing the culture well.

"i didn't think therapy was going to work but it's working" - same
Simone is such an icon for people of color, mental health, and in gymnastics
It's not that anyone ever hated her or felt she let the country down. She didn't. It's that the chance of gaining an Olympic spot is pretty much impossible. For the entire country there are usually between 4-7 spots. The issue people had is they feel she robbed someone of a spot who has worked their entire life and missed out, only to see that spot wasted. No one could have predicted the issues at the Olympics. But she would have known leading up to it her mental state wasn't in a good place and withdrew from selection. Her life was not worth a gold medal so she did the correct thing by stopping, there is no dispute about that
it's called burnout... her personal life was not great, and the pressure for so many years, ... burn out... glad she found a supportive boyfriend, worked on her life outside of gymnastic again, and she's back at the top of her game.

I believe she also testified in front a senate committee after the Olympics about abuse and I think that was probably on her mind as well. I hope she is well now and she seems like she’s come back stronger in the sport.
I love you even more now, Simone. 🩵💖
Can relate somewhat. You should read ‘The China Study’ and ‘The Myth of Mental Illness’. You will never be the same, afterwards. I promise. You are strong. Let’s keep learning. Who is really ready to open their eyes? Get ready…
No less an authority on survival and courage than boxing champion Claressa Shields spoke out for Simone immediately, in support and sisterly solidarity. It's appalling that so many ignorant fools criticized her and called her names the way they did. I know that somewhere here she says it took her a long time to "forgive herself" -- she doesn't have to forgive herself for anything, but it will be harder to forgive the a$$holes who gave her such a hard time for doing the right, smart, and courageous thing.
"Mental health is important" meanwhile people harassed her for months to get her to divorce somebody she's happy with. Mental health only matters when someone brings it up
Now, the world needs to give Gabby Douglas that SAME grace for messing up at the 2016 Olympics. Next: Nadia Comaneci needs to come out and testify against Marta and Bela. These gymnasts need to clean their closets from skeletons so they can go on.
Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is, His good, pleasing and perfect will.”

We’ve been indoctrinated into these values of attachment at an early age and seen countless others around us operating the same way. These values are a comfort zone. Life is a microcosm. Everything tries to remain in homeostasis and human emotions of no different.
