2:58 This is so true across so many edits. Part of me worries it’s my subconscious accepting faults so I can appreciate my own edit more.

It is actually interesting to see what people choose to keep and what they decide to delete. So much of the prequels are filled with choices that I would never have made in the first place, but it's also why I've never tried to do my own edit - I wouldn't know what to keep and what to toss!

Really enjoyed this well-considered and balanced review! I am lucky enough to know the editor and have seen this edit and, as an OG fan who struggled with the more dorky aspects of the prequels mentioned in the review (the usual suspects - JarJar, Greivous, and don't even get me started on Roger, Roger), taking them out gave the whole thing a much more original trilogy vibe. Plus (no spoilers), the inspired change to the ending Simon made is so much more interesting than the original. Thanks for the review!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I always try to measure the success of an edit based on the intention of the editor - and this one for sure hit those marks.

Really interesting! You would really like to be able to temporarily erase your memories before watching i re-edit since you still have back stories and such still in your memory banks most of the time. Then afterwards you could add back those previous memories and compare the two. :D I actually have a friend who was part of an HBO Nordic PR campaign where they made a video of her getting her memory of watching Game of Thrones "erased" through hypnosis, so she could enjoy the series fresh once again. I can't remember really but I think she said it kind of worked but at the same time it didn't. I guess it might just have been kind of in effect for a short while or something. And then it's very different how sensitive people are to hypnosis. Some go under right away and some it just don't work for. So IF it would work maybe it would be more effective with one movie and not like a whole series, but the idea is really cool. :D

That's actually really cool - I don't know if I'd go so far as try to delete memories just so I could watch a fan-edit or even one of my favorite movies for the first time, but a neat idea!

Well, in that case, it might be interesting! Like…if I had deleted the first time I watched Star Wars…would my love for it be completely gone? Does that delete the other movies? And the decisions that were based on my love of movies, science fiction, fantasy - just how much would be affected? 🤯

Episode 1 is an easy cut to do and Episode 3 too.
