As a theatre director who has worked on dozens of musicals, I've auditioned literally thousands of singers. Some of them had so much talent that they took your breath away. Some of them were seriously talented but not yet ready for public consumption. However, many many others walked into the audition room or onto the stage with an attitude that was a turn-off from the very beginning. Arrogant, entitled, and devoid of any real talent, they nonetheless were delusional enough to believe that they were the next major superstar. For all those who are planning to audition, whether for a musical or non-musical production, the people who are there to see you--judges, casting people, directors--get an impression the moment you open the door and walk into the room. So leave all the garbage attitude outside that room. Otherwise, you're going nowhere. Period.

Really embarrassing how badly this went for him. I’m surprised that he even wanted to come back to the show after this happened.

Rita got it right on point! That was a "Kanye West effect", but as the judges also said, "But he's not Kanye West yet!" How does ANYONE have the audacity to come out on that stage with all that attitude, in front of the one person that can make or break their entire career??? Smh...need to learn some humility, humbleness and gratitude.

What a shame. I found Mason somewhat entertaining, and his voice not terrible, before the performance ended and the rudeness began. When he learns to curb the rudeness, he won't be half bad.

How the auditions were edited. His beef was some others’ auditions were broadcast with more being shown, up to several minutes while they edited his down to little more than half a minute. When I saw him on tour the following year, he’s not a bad lad but he definitely didn’t cover himself with glory here

The problem with some of these contestants is that they get through past the initial round and they get on cloud 9. I learned a long time ago when I did something different that winning is the easy part. Once u get there, you have to maintain longevity. That’s the hard part. This guy thinks cause Rita gave him a dance, he thinks he Mr. Superstar. Please.. grow up people. Some of the brightest talents who have won major competitions now are nowhere in the spotlight. It just shows how tough and competitive the industry is. This guy a fool.

Epic fail. What was this like only his 2nd audition from a life of flipping burgers and he's strutting around like a rooster with an attitude like the shows beneath him? Pffff... Hard to fathom how people can switch and forget themselves so quickly. Of course, maybe it was all staged since I didn't actually watch that series but this was so embarrassing I never forgot it and it still makes me laugh. The guys like "People ain't never seen this before" "I'm bringing music back" "I'm gonna bring something no ones ever seen before" such as? a silly little shake-dance thingy at the start? Karaoke? Butchering a couple of songs? plagiarism? making a complete idiot out of yourself in front of millions? Throwing away the only chance you had so far at that point to make it big? Ya no we saw all that before dude. Well, if nothing else, the drama at least took the attention off the terrible performance. Love how that newly formed gansta persona crumbles as the crowd turn on him and Simon rips into him "Mason, you're being a complete ar*ehole!" 🤣🤣
