    Latin was the language of the Catholic Church and Greek was the language of the Orthodox Church. Both derivations from the Iliro-Albanian language 🇦🇱 "Both Latin and Greek are derivations from Albanian, both Latin and Greek complement each other - Albanian, on the other hand, stands alone and contains only those elements that have to share Greek and Latin, and Albanian has many Sanskrit forms which have lost both Latin and Greek altogether." They're fine people. Also, we have so many things in common like history and traditions and similarities like trust and hospitality. All respect for Romanian people.

  • @eueueutututu1

    @eueueutututu1

    Mr Berisha - if you're talking about the fact that Romania doesn't recognize Kosovo that is due to the fact that we face our own separatist movements. By recognizing a country which seceded mostly because of the ethnic criterion, we would fuel our own Hungarian minority to intensify their separatist actions. It would also seem hypocritical for us to do so. Spain as well is approaching the problem in the same manner, thus not recognizing Kosovo (because of the pressure which comes from Catalonia and Basque country to secede). So this isn't something "personal" as it may be in the case of other Balkan countries.

    "Both languages must have developed near each other in central balkan between the year 100 and 500 AD and then stopped influencing each other after the barbarian invasions." According to many historians and linguists, things went a little different. Rather than being in close contact i.e. living together in Central Balkans (an theory without any support at all), we may consider that both languages shared the same Thracian-Illyrian substratum, and both were Romanized. Moreover, it is very probable that the Roman presence created a vast area, covering nowadays Romania and most of Balkan Penisula down to Greece, inhabited by populations living under Roman domination and using a form of vulgar Latin as lingua franca. However, after the arrival of Slavs, this area was fragmented and Albanians and Romanians managed to keep some similarities between the two languages. Also, I believe that a significant contribution did come from the Vlachs, the Latin-language population of sheperds roaming all over Balkan Peninsula, including North of Danube, and ensuring mediated contact between proto-Romanians and proto-Albanians. Otherwise, many common words between present-day Albanian and Romanian, when are not from Latin, originate from Turkish, Slavic or Greek.

I was pleasantly surprised to understand many things in Albanian without actually learning it ( I was working in a Serbian area so...). I just love those two countries/cultures which are both very unique and have interesting linguistic similarities. You can see common influences from Latin and Turkish but there are also some words of which origin can still be debated. This video is foarte interesant/shume interesante.

    Albanians are a tribe from Romania, that's why these words are so similar... The theory that Albanians are Illyrians doesnt make sense, the Illyrians were people that spoke a language that has roots to Latin. The Illyrians assimilated into the Roman nation from 200-300 A.D. so it wouldnt make sense for the Albanians to call themselves Illyrians, since that nation hasn't existed since 300 A.D. The first written documents of the Albanians appeared in the 11th century, when they were Orthodox and vassals to the Byzantine Empire. Gjergj Kastrioti Skenderbeg (Djuradj Kastriot Skenderbeg) was a duke to the Serbian Empire, his father Jovan is burried in the Serbian Orthodox Monastery Hilandar, on Mount Athos. "Modern" Albanians these days are muslim extremists, they are proud of their "Illyrian" roots, their "national hero" who was Orthodox, and they think they have a brotherly country. No you don't. Your language doesn't fit into any language tree and your nation is totally made up.

    I believe Albanian could be the 6th Romance language. I know Illirians, Thracians and Dacians used to have a lot of linguistic commonalities, both of them having Hellenic influences. Both Dacians and Illirians went through the Romanization process, both went through Turkization process (Although more for Albania), and also both went through Slavization process. I believe Albanian is a long distant language sister of Romania. Given the fact that Istro-Romanians (From Croatia), and Megleno Romanians and Aromanians all of which reside in the Balkan region around today's Bulgaria, Northern Greece, FYROM, Croatia and Albania, I really believe Albanians are more than just our Balkan brothers, but they might be our long distant blood twins. In any case, both Albania and Romania are not interesting enough for the best historians who usually study Romans, the Brits, the Vikings so probably we will never know for sure... In any case our languages are more similar than we maybe like to admit. Love Albania from Romania.

    mypassion Space Hello my friend, i am from Albania and i would like to thank you for the kind words. Indeed Albanians and Romanians are close relatives. However, i would like to make a few corrections in terms of Albanian origins/. The Albanians are descended from the ancient Illyrians (Albanoi tribe), which had intermingled with Dacians/Thracians for many hundreds of years prior to all the so called "barbarian" invasions. So yes their connection does run deep and we know Thracians and illyrians had lived together for a long time before being separated by space and time.

    @@alexandrimadh4062 That's really interesting. I know that the Albanian people were actually in Caucuses, neighbors of the Armenians and the Georgians. When the Golden Horde came out of Mongolia, the Armenians stayed, the Albanians said, "take this land; we don't want it!" and left for the West. They settled in the area that is now Albania (Illyria) and western Greece. Albanian is not a Latin or Greek language, but it's own language on the Indo-European tree. It has a lot of Latin, Greek, and even Turkish words that were brought in through intermarriage, and proximity to the languages of the area. Romanian similarly was a Latin (Romance) language and again, because of proximity to other languages in the area, they have similarities. Thanks for your interesting take on Ur. The fact that these two languages have so much in common has to do with the ancient relationship that both people had. The thracian and dacian tribes (Romanians today) were close friends (most of the times allies) with illyrian tribes (Albanians), and probably part of the same origin (the pelasgians). Thus, today, Albanians go really well with Romanians and also find similarities in their modern languages. It's an old bond that links us together. Cheers to that!

    Also lets not forget the HUGE influence of latin because Latin roots comprise over 60% of the Albanian lexicon.[98] They include many frequently used core vocabulary items, including shumë ("very", from Latin summus), pak ("few", Latin paucus), ngushtë ("narrow", Latin angustus), pemë ("tree", Latin poma), vij ("to come", Latin venio), rërë ("sand", Latin arena), drejt ("straight", Latin "directus"), kafshë ("beast", Latin causa, meaning "thing"), and larg ("far away", Latin largus). They are so close that Some scholars, such as Schuhardt and Meyer, have taken it to pronounce either Romanian to be "Latinized Albanian" or Albanian to be half-Romance as per Schuhardt and Gustav Meyer. Later 20th century scholarship in Albania and Romania, represented especially by the works of Eqrem Çabej and Haralambie Mihaescu, has reconsidered many of the proposed Romance etyma in Albanian to in fact be cases of formations internal to Albanian that were based on older Romance loans, and voiced reservations that the extent of convergence was being exaggerated. Nevertheless, the latter group of scholars continue to view the Albanian-Romanian relationship as a pressing question in the histories of both languages.[32]

    Albanian language may be the language spoken by Illyrians or Thracians (scholars don't agree if it is Illyrian or Thracian, some say it's Illyrian, some others say it's Thracian; but scholars also say that Albanian was heavily Romanized, like half Romanized Illyrian/Thracian - that means there are many Latin words in Albanian) and in the case of Romanian, Thracian language (or more precisely, the language spoken by Daco-Getae) forms the substratum of modern Romanian. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stratum_(linguistics)

    The so-called Slavic nations of the Balkans are also native but they are not that much Slavic (in their genes). They are pre-existing populations (possibly romanizes thracians / illirians = vlachs) which adopted the language of the conqueror (like previously they adopted Latin). But their DNA tells the true story: the I2a Y-DNA haplogroup prevails. This haplogroup belongs to the first europeans (populations that migrated into Europe about 35ooo years ago, from Anatolia). Same for Romanians, except the funny fact that - in spite of speaking a Romance language - genetically are closer than Bulgarians or than Serbians to the real Slavs (Poles / Ukrainians). I2a is the prevailing haplogroup in Romania, too, but to a lesser extent than south of Danube. In Poland, Ukraine the R1a haplogroup is massively dominating.

    vere/vara comes from latin in both languages, related to "primavera" in Italian which means "spring", but litterally means "first-summer" nevoie/nevoje also latin, would litterally translate to "non-voglia" in Italian meaning it's not your will to do it but you must or "need" Barca/barke is identical to Italian Poarta/porte almost identical to Italian... Mie/mije is mille... Sageata/shiget is of course "sagitta" in Italian I guess this words are just inherited from Latin in Romanian and loan-words from Italian in Albanian and I wanted to stress it because people are thinking that the common words in Romanian and Albanian are comming from the Dacian language (or Thracian or Ilyrian or I don't know...)

    Wow, so many words are similar to Bulgarian, just pronounced differently. Thank you, you make this clip so fun:)))) The reason I landed on your video is because I just read on Internet about Illyrians, how in 27 BC become province of Roman empire. I guested, that since Romanian language is base on roman/Latin, Albanian as well will have similarity with Latin. But i did find out, that both Albanian and Romanian also have similarity with Bulgarian, with different pronunciation. Im now fen of both languishes and think to start learning them.

    KameradSilbien RO Summer in latin was "aestas". How are two words for summer both from latin and both "indigenous to latin"? Pls don't forget that even latin borrowed from semitic, ancient hellenic, celtic, etruscan and many, many other languages.
