I would have dropped the Silver out of solution to make Silver Chloride with HCL. Because Silver is a carrier of Pt and Pd. By using the Copper sheet. Silver, Palladium and Platinum would all dropped out of the solution. So, add HCL to make Silver Chloride and then test the remaining solution with Stannous Chloride for Pt and Pd. You don't have to.. On if you want to..

Wouldn't it be better to use electrolysis for silver plated?

Probably. But this scrap was realy thin and dissolved fast, I have a lot of silver plated cuttlery, in the future I make a video about reverse electroplating.

I must admit, I would love to see a video of current best practice for reverse electroplating silver plate. The videos I have seen are pretty messy. I can get tons of silver plate so a reasonably quick, effective method would be good to see.

Is it okay to rinse the powder with tap water instead? Will it cause the powder to become impure and turn dark in colour?

  • @ogbullion

It's okay to rinse with tap water, not going to contaminate the silver but if you have residual silver nitrate its gonna create some silver chloride.

Hello friend good vidéo but be careful for safety. Do not forget that the supports towards breakage sooner or later uses a stainless steel pan. Sreetips méthode ?

Szia, nice pure silver just under 3 000 HUF, hardly worth chemicals, material, effort and time... well it is a hobby, just to get "own" silver... Percieved value is higher for sure... :-)

Not recommend this method for spoons. For spoons and other cuttlery the reverse electroplating the best choice.
