Bottled it up for yrs till 1 day I completely exploded at work on a senior co-worker that constantly bullied me & then my psycho ass of a supervisor who tried defending him. Had to be escorted out by security as I lost my job. My advice, don't bottle that shit up. Assess the situation. If your workplace is a truly bad scene for you start making a change for yourself NOW. Look for a different job & get out. Don't let it fester or you'll end up like I did or even worse stay there in perpetual hell tortured every second as time ticks away. Nothing is perfect but know when it's time to move on

    When i first watched this, I thought "wow Tiffany is such a buzz kill just leaving for no reason, but when i watch it now, i can see why she did. Her sister was subtly patronising her the whole time. She was trying to sell her lifestyle to them. Like "Look how well we are doing, how well adjusted we are. Don't you want to be more like us?" And this facade became obvious when they started talking about the meds (something real) and her sister seemed so uncomfortable. So Tiffany had enough and stormed off. Of course the truth was far from it, judging by her husband's confession to Pat.

  • @johnman9386

    @johnman9386

    no, as a matter of fact What a vile comment to leave. If my bipolar sister's husband just die and she just lose her job, the last thing i would do is take them around my new house and show them how cool is the fireplace in my wall. If she was indeed happy (which i doubt) she shouldn't show it off to someone she knows is having a really hard time. What her sister needed was support, just her being there. Even her phrasing is about projecting an image of abundance. "Who doesn't have an ipod?" She is not "people in general" She is her sister.She knows all her life that her sister is bipolar.She also knows that her sister is going through real hardship and instead of letting her express her feelings and connect with her, she visibly expressed discomfort when Tifanny tried to talk about the realities of her life and to connect with someone who has too (Pat). All this so that she can fulfil her "normal and successful housewive having a nice dinner with her friends" fantasy and hopefully pass it on to her sister. If that is not a selfish, fake and misguided attitude i don't know what is.

    lazyla27 true but I don’t understand how criticizing pats clothing choice and condescending remarks is helping either of them? How is parading 2 people who lost everything to them around the house showing them things they can’t afford helping pat or Tiffany. I think in her own sick way she likes having them to dinner to make them feel less normal. Just my thoughts. Also unrelated why would she bring Nikki to the dance the night of the dance!? You know that was all Veronica , I know pat needed closure but not during a time like that. She likes to see them squirm for her own sick pleasure, she finds happiness in making others feel lesser as well.

  • @mikestefani4596

    @mikestefani4596

    lazyla27 that answers nothing. The point you’re missing is 2 people who are mentally unstable and lost everything, act more genuine then a materialistic person who can’t find joy in her own life and has everything she wants. Happiness is just an illusion, it’s very clear that Ronnie and Veronica try and seek happiness through material things, where as pat and Tiffany value relationships and connections. Veronica only seems more “normal” because our society is based on materialism, but in reality she is more dysfunctional.

    @@Purplenpinkk You're right. Basically Pat and Tiffany just have mental problems but their not ashamed of themselves. Their just learning how to deal with it in public. Ronnie and Veronica are just faking their whole personalities just to seem like everything is ok. That's why Pat is like "What the fuck? You're stressed out and you're not telling anybody?" To Pat, that's crazy. Veronica is just a narcissist trying to seem like she's trying to help but she really isn't.

    I don't think the sister and pats friend are looking down on them at all. it's implied that tiffanys sister has been in a mothering position with her for a long time. and pats friend is his best friend and he never judges him throughout the whole film. Besides Pats mom, basically everyone in the film has some sort of mental problem. But the characters dont treat them as the "crazy ones" as much as the ones that can't take care of their problems alone and need a helping hand.

    Finally, a movie that sought to greatly reduce if not outright eradicate the ancient social stigma surrounding those with bi-polar disorder, or to at least shed a much more sympathetic light upon the whole issue, to bring greater awareness & sensitivity to something that can be better understood & treated (coming from one who knows first hand how debilitating & destabilizing such bi-polar flare-ups can be!). Kudos to all the actors yet most especially the two lead stars, Cooper & Lawrence, for nailing the psychological frailties, flashing emotions, feeble stability, fluctuating mood swings & pathos of their characters with depth & skill, making them very relatable in the process. Superb performances to say the least!

    After having been through an in-patient program twice, I see this movie with new eyes. I’ve actually taken some of the meds! Lol. Also, this movie illustrates how almost everyone, not just the two main characters, are also unbalanced in their own way, but the two main characters (who are supposedly the most unbalanced ones) are the only ones actually dealing with their problems. I’ve been both the older sister (before the hospital) and then also the younger sister (after my stay in the hospital). Jlaw probably got annoyed with her sister “bragging” about her, because she normally doesn’t talk like that about her. It felt superficial, like she was bragging about her sister as an extension of herself... Much like her showing off her house to her guests. Look how amazing her life is going: the nice house, the beautiful family, etc… but underneath all that is unhappiness. It’s so fake, and that bothered Jlaw’s character, when she was on the receiving end of it, because her character is honest to a fault.
