@@anmoldani6258 The whole point of the movie is that Arthur wasn't born a psychopath. He was mentally ill, but harmless. But when the world does nothing but hurt a man for as long as he can remember, how can he be expected to do anything but want to hurt it back? The movie brought a lot of parallels to Frankenstein for me. The Creature wasn't a threat until his environment convinced him that the only way he could assert any sort of control over his surroundings was to lash out and hurt others just like he had been hurt, much like Arthur himself. Just for the record, the three Wayne employees he killed WERE awful pieces of shit. Murray may not have deserved a full on execution, but he wasn't a nice guy either. Joker's not wrong when he says people are awful, but that's partly because he had the misfortune of being surrounded by shitty people, Gary and Arthur's neighbor being the exceptions.

The leg bouncing when he kills Murray really sells this scene for me, believe it or not. Arthur just killed someone. On live TV. In front of people. He realizes this, and for a split second you can see him wonder what in the world he just did, and he gets nervous about it, hence the leg bouncing. But that goes away, and the leg bouncing doesn't express stress now, it expresses the adrenaline rush as Arthur becomes the Joker in that one scene.

u know what's so sad? this is life. there's hundreds and thousands of people like arthur who get mistreated and not worth acknowledging. if people like him die, no one cares. but if one celebrity, or anyone famous dies, then everyone notices. all it takes is one famous person to feel sorry for someone and everyone else feel them same. no one cares about a nobody. but let's not forget that everyone in hollywood and everywhere else used to be a nobody. this generation is degrading and it keeps getting worse. america is not evil. just its leaders and everyone that kisses their asses

It's a dichotomy of two people misunderstanding one another. that's why it's so perfect, it replicates everything wrong with debate and being truly social with one another. Not once did murray ask "why" did he kill those guys he only stated that it was obviously bad. and even when the Joker explained that they were "awful" it changed absolutely nothing to murrays conclusion. Lack of empathy is all it takes to bring down civilisations.

Poor Arthur. He lived a life of being bullied and ignored, he finally got a chance to be recognised and get people to sympathise with him, and everyone basically just told him to man up and get over it, including the person he looked up to and imagined having a great relationship with. Joaquin did a marvellous job and spot on potray a mental traumatic with sudden behavioural changes with subtlety it’s sublime. First we see him act humble and try to rub it off his shoulder but as the story progresses forward and he learns more about himself his mother we see him become more emotional , confident , conceited and ultimately unpredictable who just does stuff on a whim. He acted really well on that part for real.

This is easily one of the greatest performances I've ever seen. There's probably little chance that Hollywood will acknowledge this publicly, and give him his due at the Oscars. Isn't it strange that the media doesn't want a film to be popular that encourages anarchy against the elite. I'm not an anarchist at all, and was actually once law enforcement, but I can appreciate the sentiment of it. How can all the press be so silent on this brilliant movie that has made over a billion dollars?

That's rather strange for such a well-acted, written, and directed film that has grossed a billion dollars. I mentioned anarchy, but in more of an anti-elitist role. People against the rich. I think that's about as overtly political as it gets...though Wayne does run for office, doesn't he... I actually for got that until you brought up politics. 😅

To me, one of the best things is him pointing the gun at himself as a red herring. As he is telling his "another joke" I felt like it might piece together, that he is describing a person (himself) who is about to commit suicide, the voice cracking at "I'll tell you what you get!" sold it to me enough that the "YOU GET WHAT YOU FUCKING DESERVE!" legitimately caught me by surprise (and Arthur as well, apparently).
