It won't happen plain and simple. You're talking to people who literally put a brace on their pistols to not break the NFA on SBRs. They could easily just use a regular stock. No one wants to risk their rights to fight the ATF.

Try telling the cops first because those are the ones that will most likely find you using them.

As he says short wait times for silencers the community runs to their local gun store to start buying silencers the wait times extend. The cycle continues

that hasn't been the limiting factor for the past ~90 years, though. It's been the federal government's painfully slow paper-based process. It got so bad internally that the ATF started a "rework the e-file system so we won't have to dedicate so many people to this mess" initiative back in late 2021, and it has finally borne fruit. The entire process is digitally managed now. It'll require intentional mismanagement on the ATF's part - which is definitely a real possibility - to get the wait times back to how they were previously. More people buying suppressors/SBRs won't change a thing.

Maybe, but at least waiting for back in stock in better than waiting 12 or more months for your permission slip. I got my first suppressor last month and my total actual wait time was about 35 days but I’m sure that’s because I had my ffl order me one so there was the whole delivery and transfer to the ffl to wait on. After all that was worked out, my actual approval wait time was only one day

@@124thDragoon No but more people buying suppressors/SBRs will contribute to the "Common Use" test. I just bought my first suppressor last month. Took 7 days from certification with the ATF to ready to pickup. It actually took longer; about 3 weeks to order it online, transfer it to my local FFL and get the paperwork completed to become "certified" and ready to submit to the ATF. Though I haven't used it at the range yet, I'm hoping to try it out for the first time next weekend.

A few weeks ago I went through this process and got my Recce 5k with it. Capitol Armory is super helpful, and the whole process took about a month from purchase to getting the suppressor.

Well I am going through it now. UPS appears to have delivered my can to the wrong address! I have a claim open. Friday when it was out for delivery then received by some guy wrong address I called capitol armory they told me it may show up lol. They said wait till Monday. So now I’m gonna call them again and ask if they can do something. Unfortunately we are dealing with our mail system here. Maybe going direct to an FFL is the way to go.

That's definitely a scary idea that they will send a fucking suppressor to the wrong address, im using Silencer Central which also ships to your door and I've been worried about the idea that someone can just steal it

Capitol Armory is great. The whole process is painless, professional, and efficient. I went through them to get my first can, a Surefire RC2. Experience was great so I went ahead and ordered another can, SiCo Switchback - currently pending approval. I'll be using them for all future NFA purchases.

I live in a country where it usually takes at least 12 months to receive permission to get a suppressor. Are methods like this quicker? I’m not worried about the background checks, I’m just not a fan of waiting a year to get shoot some water jugs after work without worrying about pissing off the neighbors I like

I’m not sure how they get by the purchaser not doing a face to face 4473 in front of an FFL as the FFL has to attest to the accuracy of the information entered on the 4473. In my shop I electronically scan the fingerprints, take the passport photo and electronically file the form 4 through reforms. Note: I do this on my own I don’t use Silencer Shop. I can also set up a trust in-house and notarize the trust forms for the customer. Much easier for the customer.

@@Graves-81_69 Silencer Central sells their own (the Banish line) as well as sell the popular brands. Their FAQ page also indicates that they can order any silencer from any manufacturer for you if they don't stock the model you want. I used them recently when they had their BOGO promo and got a free 22lr silencer (I ordered a SiCo and a Banish). Capital Armory usually has BOGO's during Christmastime as well, and they also sell many of the popular brands, not just Griffin.

I bought one through Silencer Shop and it was eCertified and sent to the ATF on Apr 14 so approaching 5 weeks with no approval yet. (I used their Single Shot Trust on it, but I was the only one on the trust, so still only one background check.) - Of course they used the electronic fingerprints and picture upload which likely saved 4-5 days on mailing them is all. It sounds like the rest of your procedures were the same as mine. I did encounter about a month delay from the date of purchase until the Form 3 was approved for them to ship it to my local dealer. (It was an in-stock suppressor that I bought, and it was ready for Docusign in about 2 days) - They said the ATF was backlogged on the Form 3 approvals at the time I purchased (Mar 10)

on 2 weeks waiting on my approval for my recce 5. hopefully this week...

Silencer Centrals been doing this for YEARS. Banish 30, 5 month approval on paper, sent to my door a week later.

So how is this legal? because you are buying direct from the manufacturer? we all know some agency that likes to change the rules mid game.

As long as you have someone to drive you around, and you never take a check from someone, and you may need to provide prints to get married one day but other than these things, you may get through life okay. Now-a-days every state license or ID requires fingerprints and a photo. If you take a check to the bank over a $100 90% will make you put your thumb print on it before they will negotiate it. Mariage license require prints in most countries, so I guess you could stay single, Basically, if you have a Social Security Number (You know - the thing they said would never be used for identification.) then you are on a list already. The list just gets bigger for each life event you choose to participate in. Even your kids have their footprints taken and scanned, at birth. Everything builds up from that point. The moral of all this = Unless you were born at home, and never went to a doctor or a school, or owned a car or participated in a normal job or been arrested, or flown on a aircraft or ever served in the military or bought a gun, then you may get buy okay If you have done any of those things though, you are already on multiple lists with enough of your fingerprints to do whatever nefarious things they planned to do...May as well and go ahead and let them have the missing digits so you can buy cool things to put on a gun. Makes it worth it!

I always wondered why it was legal to vote remotely, but not buy a gun remotely. Talk about an infringement upon our rights...

I think if someone can’t figure out how to put their finger print on paper they really shouldn’t be buying a suppressor bc they shouldn’t be shooting a weapon. Am i right?
