    1. It feels like a roller coaster ride. 2. You walk on eggshells. 3. The effort is not equal. 4. "Revenge" takes the place of communication. 5. Your other relationships suffer. 6. Being with the person makes you tired. 7. Three or more people who love you are warning you about this person. 8. You are the person's "life coach." 9. You are consistently disappointed.

Same here. Just kicked out my bf of three years, this time for good.. and I still struggle to give up hope on a „us“. I am so caught up in my own net of denying obvious things.. I guess I need some help 😣

Spending more time with solitude....even in a marriage, you can make yourself too available and then you can get taken for granted. Working on self care and self control.

Numbers 3, 6, 8, and 9. I wish I would have seen this video sooner! I broke up with my boyfriend on Tuesday. I found out that I’m more interested and more in love with him than he is with me. And that’s not a relationship that I want nor need to be in. But now that I’m processing this relationship, there were those 4 factors that weren’t healthy at all. I guess I was just waiting for him to change. Now I can heal, move on, and create space for the right man to be in my life.

I have been married for almost 21 years now. Signs 2, 3, 4 and 9 all fit my marriage to a T. Number 5, he's never really tried to divide me from my friends, but he doesn't want to be around them himself. I have learned not to ask him to go places with me/my friends because he gets bored and irritable and wants to go home early so I can't enjoy myself either. I yearn for freedom but am struggling with what to do.

I left this person about a month and half ago. We were acting like boyfriends and girlfriends but after two months together he told me he wasn’t ready for a boyfriend and girlfriend title. He said to him it’s just a title. I was hurt. Crying for so many weeks. I did often feel disappointed and tired with him but always hope this work.

About the 4th sign I commonly used the term "you did the same thing" in my previous relationship but never with the intention of revenge. I used to do it because I genuinely thought it was normal to act like the opposite person. Then my ex would retaliate by saying oh so you're looking for revenge? When I used to explain myself that I thought it was something normal because he was acting the same way he would tell me that I should not change myself just because the opposite person is different. I don't know if what I did was right or wrong because his actions didn't hurt me and seemed pretty reasonable but he hated it when I did the same with him.

Can I ask Matt...do you think the age & stage of life you're in makes a difference to these points? I agree if somebody is....say, under 50 yrs of age but if the person is older is it maybe wiser to cut them some slack as there's less chance of meeting an alternative? Of course its better to be alone at ANY age than to be in a real toxic relationship but .... ??
