Protein is a hot topic when it comes to food. It often gets associated with high level athletes or praised by those looking to lose weight. On the other end of the spectrum, it often gets vilified by some who advocate for strict plant-based diets.
But the reality is, protein is absolutely essential for human health, and it is estimated that a large portion of the population are deficient. In fact, The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations estimated that approximately one billion people worldwide have inadequate protein intake which contributes to impaired growth and suboptimal health.
That estimate might seem high, given that it includes approximately one-seventh of the world's population, but actually, it is likely understated. As we will discuss, new research is showing that the benchmarks on which these estimates are based - recommended daily intakes or dietary reference intakes established by government organizations - are set far too low for most individuals.
The truth is, protein deficiency isn’t a condition confined only to third world countries. It is becoming increasingly common among the general population. This is due in part to an increase in processed, nutrient-devoid food that consists primarily of refined carbohydrates and fills a large portion of calories for the day. But it is also due to an increase in certain disease conditions that impair the body’s ability to absorb protein.

    Every morning I get on the floor on my back and do about 10 minutes of excercises with weights. I bend my knees and do different arm exercises, crunches from side to side, With the weights over my head i do bicycle exercises. I satand and with the weights on my hips I squat. I am 67 and look much younger. I have had many injuries but I refuse to be disable. I believe that you should do what you can to stay strong and healthy. Stop depending on doctors and medicine. Eating healthy is key to your wellbeing and so is exercise.

    Why people lose so much lean body mass as they get older? One reason is they’re not eating enough protein. second reason is they’re eating the wrong sources of protein. third reason is that they are not digesting their protein.

    Stephanie, Many mothers are alike, and they've no compassion; they don't (truly) love their children, and wouldn't know when their children are truly in pain. Compassion extends from true love! One of my school friends (and neighbour) who was born with scoliosis had terrible pain as a teenager, and also to this very day! Her mom always told her that she was lazy and never treated her nicely as her siblings who didn't have health issues. Not everyone who has made children is a mother! My siblings and I always felt sorry and helped her to complete her chores.

    Sounds like soy based protein, and soybeans are also high in vegetable estrogen. Consider that also please. Find a healthy source of eggs from chickens that are free to run around and eat bugs and greens, and whatever things they naturally enjoy, besides their feed. Meat, fish, chicken, best from animals that are free, and not prisoners in confined and overcrowded conditions. Good luck.

    You cannot need supplementation if you are carnivore unless you have a disease or are just not eating or you are only eating one part of an animal or only eating white meat chicken and no dark meat. There is a test for *total protein, albumin, and albumin/globulin (A/G) ratio* Albumin and globulin are two proteins that the liver produces. This test can reveal whether total protein levels are low and if albumin and globulin proteins are at optimal levels.

    I’m so glad I happened to come across your channel. I have cut down on protein and I noticed my face starting to sag. I eat a mostly plant based diet. No grains, sugar or simple carbs. Nuts, fruit, vegetables and seeds. My legs got so small I’m can no longer wear dresses above my ankles. I have so much fat around my middle. I have RA, fibromyalgia, diabetes, low back pain and high blood pressure. I take prednisone 5mg everyday. I changed my diet after getting RA and I have very little problems with RA. I got my sugar from 11.1 to 6.4 recently. I will be eating more meat. I was on Ozempic for a while, I quit that because I read it breaks down your muscle. I have hair loss. Anxiety, hard to lose weight. All my test came back normal except my sugar. I’m very forgetful. I did not connect all these health issues with lack of protein. I am very fatigued after about 4:00 every day. I’m 71 and I don’t blame my ill health on age. I eat a pretty healthy diet, that’s why all my illnesses and medications has not have a real bad effect on me. My strength is very weak.

  • @BeverlyAcupuncture

    @BeverlyAcupuncture

    I am very intuitive. Sometimes I just know which doesn’t help you. When people are protein deficient they will have hormone imbalances. Things will just not be quite right but they can’t explain it. They go to the doctor and the doctor can’t find anything wrong. They just don’t feel right. Maybe have unexplained minor pains that come and go in different places. When I ask about their diet they are vegan, vegetarian, or eat very little animal products.

How ? (3) Can the wrinkley appearance of the skin be reversed and id so how ....collagen ?
