What an excellent job you did explaining this red dot. I know I am 5 years too late seeing this.....but I am glad I did. Thanks.

I prefer the Romeo 5 on my Ruger PC Carbine. The open high rail mount allows full use of the iron sights that come standard.

Just a heads up on the romeo 5x with AAA battery. The battery is mounted front to back in the body of the optic. This causes the battery to slide back and forth under recoil. The battery cap has a spring in it, thus recoil causes a power disconnect, shutting it down. I have the same problem with my Vortex Strike Fire. I chose the Romeo 5 with the 2032 battery because of this problem.

4K + rounds with supersonic 300 BLK never once had this problem. Please keep your insights to actual experiences instead of youtube BS. If you actually have had this issue what did Sig do to rectify?

I have run many, many rounds with this through my Mini 14, AR 15 and AR 10. I have never once had the issue you describe. It has been as reliable as my Aimpoint Pro, which is perfect.

Another great review Neal! I think the Romeo 5's are one of the best values in small red dot optics. BTW when are you expecting the XDR version back in stock?

I was torn between the 5 XDR and the Romeo 4H and couldn't resist aiming a little higher ( pun intended, lol) and went with the 4H for the quick detach and 4 reticle options. Otherwise the 5's are a great value for the money and you can't go wrong either way you decide.

Neal Rogers Feel free to use me as a reference for anyone on the fence in the future whether it be the concern of where and what to buy. It's always nice when you get the customers endorsement.

Sig 5 series are great but I believe the standard 5 model is still the way to go because alkaline batteries due tend to leak if left in anything. I’ve never had that issue with button batteries. I leave batteries in the 5 without worries that they will leak and destroy the optics. I would recommend that anyone using the 5x model remove the batteries if you’re not using the gun for more than a month. I have Other red dots that have button batteries in then for a couple of years between use and never ever had any issues plus I can carry a whole sheet of button batteries in my go bag and they take up very little space and say if one goes bad it won’t affect the rest because they come in separate compartment on the same sheet. Just my opinion.

Just use energizer lithium batteries in AA/AAA form factor; I do this with anything expensive or which will be subjected to temperature or rough handling.

I don’t know why I didn’t think of that. Thanks. I know it’s rare that a lithium battery will go bad under normal conditions.
