Good info! It worked for me years ago (and had no internet back then). The concept is the same. Find everything you can and study it. Be more prepared than the next guy. The one extra item you learned may be the edge you need. Keep bringing your game up. I got a private pilot certificate, rotorcraft - helicopter, while waiting, was expensive, but built confidence. Also, be ready to take an empty slot at Fort Rucker. On any given day, be ready to go NOW! That open slot that just came open for whatever reason, may only come around one time for you. They called me, I had been currently a drilling member of the Guard. I had a full-time job. I dropped everything. Got the slot. Also, study up for your FAA Commercial Pilot, and Instrument Helicopter written test. Once you finish at Fort Rucker, you will have all the actual flight time to get your ticket with just the written test. Don't know how they do it now. Back then we paid a fee, and a bunch of us took the test one Saturday before we graduated.

A 4187 signed by your Company Commander is required for active duty personnel to take the SIFT at the installation education center. (CPT or higher. If a 1LT signs, Assumption of Command orders must be attached.) It verifies your GT score and whether its your initial or re-test. I have a 128 GT score and scored a 59 on the SIFT. I appreciate your help guys. I referenced your videos throughout the two months I prepared for this exam. I have no aviation background. I’m currently in the process of getting my packet together.

Hey guys awesome videos, I would like to add that Reservists in the Army need a DA form 4187 signed by your CO and a CAC card to even be taken in for a test. I would recommend not even scheduling ANYTHING until you have your 4187 back in possession. Unless your Command somehow notifies you that you will get it back on such and such a date (yeah right). Not too far into it yet. I just know that the 4187 takes some time to get approved. I'm being patient with it while it's pending approval. Like I said, no point in scheduling a test until you have the green light. I know it's an exciting process to initiate, but patience seems to be a virtue in this. Sorry for the late response. It's like nothing I've ever taken that's for sure. At least I'm finally cleared for my Phase 1 now. Question! Is it better if your LOR is from someone higher in rank? Supposedly, there are only about 100 CW5s across the Army so everyone knows them and you can sort of ride their rep in a way? I've also been told to avoid an LOR from a CW3. Guidance is appreciated! @johnl9099

Bryan Bunt - I’m also in the process of applying for WOFT and from what I’ve gathered, talking to other flight warrants is that your age isn’t going to hinder you-but your experience will. A lot of people who apply are priors and have leadership experience. On the civilian side you’ve got guys who’ve been in college and have degrees and may also be managers and leaders in current civilian jobs. Don’t let it stop you though. I just think long term inexperience might set you back and that’s important to think about if you want to stay in the army for 20 years. Grades and scores will get you into flight school, life experience and leadership skills will help you keep this as a career. Hope this helps man. I still say go for it!

Honestly from being in flight school, I heard students whose SIFT scores ranged from a 41 SIFT all the way up to a perfect score at 80. Without it I do not think you will be able to test. Follow the video, and gather documents mentioned. Get it all together and go to the usarec, google it and go to the warrant officer recruiting tab, it will explain in detail. I am off to WOCS tomorrow, so I will be out of touch for 6-7 weeks but happy hunting to you all! Ill get back on here when I can.

So I made an inquiry about WOCS and flight school. Reserves is off limits if you're more than 120 miles from a Reserve aviation unit. None in NYS. :(

Lick mychin Just in case you decide to keep going with it, Reserve guys like us need a DA Form 4187 signed by your Commanding Officer and a CAC card when you go to the test center.

I just talked to an Apache Pilot today who had that same issue. I will inquire further "lick mychin" and find out the way around it. Im sorry I didn't find out today for you but I have a lot of posts and questions that I am trying to answer and just didn't think to ask. As soon as I get more information I will pass it on.

"Spacial Appreciation" lol. I sure do appreciate those spaces. (Apperception is the word. The mental process by which a person makes sense of an idea by assimilating it to the body of ideas he or she already possesses) Had to comment. I'm that guy. Hate me. Thanks for the vids though.

Hey y’all just wanted to know my chances of getting into the program about two years ago I got into some trouble with the law and ended up getting a MIP and a possession of paraphernalia charge, I have done my probation and the charges are set to be expunged, I also took substance abuse counseling and haven’t used since, what are my chances of getting waivers and do I have a shot at getting SECRET clearance? Also just a what if, if I do happen to get a secret clearance will my charges still be taken into consideration during the board selections? I’m currently 19 and am in great physical shape, I also took a practice asvab and scored really well(don’t remember my exact score but it was well above average)

Make sure your packet is complete before you go to them and have everything ready to show them this is what you want. Your sift score is good but I’ve seen ppl that got picked up with a 40. If you need help bro just let me know. We can exchange emails or whatever.

Trung Nguyen it should be fine. Memory serving me correctly, most of the reason you want to read that is for the concepts in aerodynamics, basic flight controls (cyclic, collective, anti-torque pedals, etc.) and some of the instruments and what they do. I read it from cover to cover and it was of huge benefit. I cannot check the edition that we used because I have since passed on my copy as study material for other potential candidates.

Crossroad Baby check out Amazon. The one I used was made by “Accepted” and it literally just gets you used to seeing the types of questions that will be on the test. Study algebra and algebra 2, and read the FAA Rotary Handbook cover to cover. That’s what I did and I did well on the test.

I seen the guy with a 4.0GPA coming in with a 124 GT and here I am with a 1.94GPA (embarassing) with a what I believe a 151 GT. I know there is no correlation between the two nor am I trying to "brag" I was just wanting to make sure I have everything correct.
