Oppossum was bobbing up and down for three hours looking like he was gearing up for a fight, very weird behaviour. Nomics cooked him. Unfortunately though you can never win an argument with a stupid person. At one point, Oppossum was talking about how there is no future date that future SV sets, and Nomics quite rightly replied saying you can apply that logic to any investment 😂 Great debate and fair play to all of them for going on, but Nomics is leagues ahead of these guys.

no hate towards JLUV but him saying that he has 0 investments (real estate, stocks, btc, etc.) kind of tells me all I need to know. @@sciencepad5555it was painful to see him keep presenting a gotcha moment to CTR after saying he knows so much only to have Ryan disagree completely about swsh. I found it funny af. Julian assumes that the purchaser of the investment is losing out by purchasing an older sealed box from an investor, but that’s not how supply/demand works, at all. That box will continue to be more and more rare, even at a break even investment (post taxes and shipping) it is basically just the same as a savings account including inflation. Buying low and selling at a window isn’t amoral, it’s ethical business standards. You can test this by substituting Pokémon for anything and then step back and review your practices. Buying and holding until an investment matures is not shady, Alex. You wouldn’t be as transparent as you are, and take offense to what was said if it wasn’t furthest from your intentions, as CTR accurately said, “F’em”, I know you’re a nice guy but he’s right and I hope you absorb that as it will make you and your channel stronger. F. Them.

Opossum needs to work on his Discussion skills. Like not enough breaks for people to respond, loud aggressive tone, constant agitated fidgeting and hopping, like I felt bad for the way he came at Alex. He started taking the discussion from objective to personal. That part was not enjoyable to watch for me. Luckily he cooled down after. Rest of the Convo was great.

I found the live hard to watch. Its very difficult to moderate a live, with people talking over each other and not letting people finish their thoughts. You have to have disciplined people that will follow ground rules to pull one of these off. I also am not sure why so many people were added to the live. My guess is he didn't want to go 1:1 with you. Wasn't very confident in his points, so he tried to muddy the waters. Opossum bud had no business being there. The only thing he adds, which maybe is why he was there is he's disruptive and argumentative with no facts to back up anything he is saying. What a weak argument to say that history will not repeat itself. If that is all you have, you have nothing to your argument. You can literally say that about everything in life!! At the end of the day, what I think you still cant knock down is that there are some very smart, very successful people that are investing in sealed Pokemon and having success doing it. I try to listen to smart successful people and do what they do. Listening to "empty barrels" that only want to tell you you cant do it, you cant do what they did, it wont work for you, doesn't sit well with me.

One point that I think was missed is how Pokemon is possibly one of the strongest brands ever created. So investing in the TCG is investing in the brand that is pokemon. No other collectable is backed by a brand as strong as Pokemon imo. The games and the anime make it so culturally relevant across multiple generations. So when Jluv was trying to say it lacks intrinsic value or utility yet stocks and crypto does, really is a contradictory view to have. Also when talking about catalysts the games and anime are clearly strong catalysts. Another which many don't often acknowledge enough is the bust and boom cycle in crypto and its affect on the pokemon market. You hear people talk about stim checks, covid and logan paul when imo people rolling profits from crypto into collectibles was the real reason for the 20/21 boom. So if we want to talk a next catalyst how about the next crypto boom? Its logical to think those profits will be rotated once again. This is without catalysts that happen naturally that we can't see before hand. Also the just open it if it goes to zero thing is definitely something with having an asset you can hold. So many markets you are left with thin air if it goes to zero but atleast with pokemon you still have the product even if the value drops. In a shit hits the fan scenario if pokemon does go to zero then I doubt pokemon going to zero is going to be everyone's main problem. It will be the least of our issues.

Let’s be real here if you are investing in your future, you want a diverse portfolio. Invest in real estate (buy your own house and if u can have a couple of rental properties), invest in stocks (mutual funds and etfs safe and less risk), buy individual stocks that you have done your research on, you can invest in Bitcion, and you can invest in cards/sealed product (best part is this investment is actually fun and enjoyable unlike the rest) never put all your eggs in one basket oh and make sure you have a healthy savings or money market too

  • @joeybrown567

People are struggling accepting the concept that investing in Pokemon is a safe and good investment and I dont blame them. We all grew up thinking cards was just a fun thing for kids to enjoy and for most people to accept that its a good investment is difficult due to everyone thinking its just a kids game. It took me a couple of years to accept that too 😂😂

The best comparable market in my opinion would be classic cars. They eventually get a defined amount created and has a value greatly dependent (once classic) on condition and demand. There is no guarantee that there will be a buyer at a higher value down the road but as time goes on and fewer exist, a shelby gt500 changes from a $3,000 new car to a 750,000 car.

If you rip packs, play the game, collect the cards, collect sealed, really what difference does it make? Why does one person care what another person is doing? As long as you aren't clearing out a Walmart and reselling the stuff like in 2020/2021. Why does anyone care if someone buys a bunch of booster boxes that are readily available from thousands of stores and doesn't open them?

I thought that was a really interesting stream to watch. At the beginning I felt Jluv had some really good questions and criticisms but in my opinion, Alex, when you asked him what he’s invested in, his answer made me feel not confident in his level of experience to make some of these criticisms. I wouldn’t consider owning the home you live in as a property investor. And without any real knowledge or experience with any other investment vehicles, I had a hard time valuing his opinion thereafter. But commend his ability to facilitate that discussion for the most part.

The discussion was kind of a mess but the actual tangible facts were pretty clearly in favor of investing. Oppossum acted rather strangely and then was oddly buddy-buddy once Ryan showed up.

Ps im a collector first and investor but my only issue is scalpers ill clean out evolving skies if its at my local store but that because i know kids wont get a chance at it in my nieghborhood but i always leave product for others aside from that.

There will always be people who spend every cash they have on things they like. I know collectors who collect everything. Watches, video games, even pens. They don’t trust stock markets or banks. They want cash or physical items. Not many people buy some. Also with everything becoming more and more digital. Physical collectibles become more appealing over time. Think that brings long term into it more as well

Tbh, it seems like a lot of ppl have this mental barrier where they just can’t accept investing and Pokemon in the same sentence, no matter how much data that is available now or ever will be in the future. Knowing Pokemon as ‘shiny, entertaining cardboard for kids’ and then hearing someone talk about it in comparison with 401k s&p etc just seems like too big of a stretch for some peoples way of thinking. And that’s fair - I just don’t get those who are being all drama about it lol

Everyone trying to compare Pokémon with 25+ years of data and being the largest most successful IP EVER with investing in early stocks like Apple and Facebook etc. is the dumbest argument EVER. Investing now in Pokémon would be more like investing in those big players stocks today. Pokémon is basically a physical stock investment with one of the best data to back it.

Pokemon cards are 100% a speculative asset. There are many players and aspects the market delievering some kind of value to collectors. Slabs dont magically appear, sealed product doesnt magically appear, singles dont magically appear. Someone took risk, effort, time to deliver these products to market. Most people mad at "investors" are mainly mad they missed out. Do you get mad at an art collector because they sold a piece at a profit? Ridiculous. Maybe instead of getting mad at people holding a few slabs/boxes. Get mad at the institutional market manipulators. Even so no one is putting a gun to anyones head forcing them to buy product. I love the content Alex. Im getting really tired of all these crybabies lately.
