Should you buy the DJI MIC for $249 in 2023?

With the upcoming release of the DJI MIC 2 (with a soft launch with the Osmo Pocket 3), DJI has discounted the original DJI MIC significantly! But is it worth it to buy in 2023?

I own the rode go 2 and rode wireless pro AND the DJI wireless mic set. But… I will still buy the dji mic 2 if the transmitters connect directy to the osmo action 4 without the receiver. I would pay TOP dollar for that feature!

There was some speculation about this. Can't remember which YT creator, but they looked up BT protocol of Pocket 3 vs that of the Osmo Action 4 and it was different. Inferred Action 4 might not be compatible with that feature. But I too NEED this feature and I'm still hopeful!

Your dilemma between the sit-stand desk and the DJI mic is so relatable! But hey, you can always get that desk later. The DJI mic sounds like a steal at $249.

Man, I totally feel your regret about not grabbing the DJI mic last week! I've been eyeing it too, and your insights are making me seriously consider pulling the trigger now. Thanks for the heads up!

Even as we move into 2024, the DJI Mic still stands as a valuable investment for those in need of good audio solutions.

I wish I had seen your video earlier in 2023 - it would have convinced me to buy the DJI Mic right away. But if you ask me whether to get the DJI Mic 2 in 2024, I believe my answer would be a resounding yes!

To know which mics to buy, ask yourself these questions: Do you always leave the receiver in the case and use the TX units as recorders. Yes - get the DJI Mic 2 or the Rode Wireless Pro. Do you need locking lavalier mic sockets? Yes - get the Rode Wireless Pro Do you have a DJI Pocket 3 (non-creator combo)? Yes - get the DJI Mic 2 Will you be buying a lot of DJI (non-drone) cameras in the future? Yes - DJI Mic 2 Do you always transmit two TX units to the camera? Yes - get the DJI Mic 1 Do you always transmit two TX units to the camera but one is duct taped to the camera? Yes - get the Rode Wireless Me Do you always transmit two TX units to the camera but you're rich? Yes - get the Rode Wireless Pro (it has constant audio leveling) Do you always transmit one TX unit to the camera and leave the other one in the case? Yes - get the Rode Wireless Me (It also has constant audio leveling)

Can I utilize these two microphones for recording group discussions? Specifically, I'm thinking of a scenario where we have a panel of four people seated at a single table, and I position one microphone at each end of the table.

I bought the rose wireless pro but I haven’t opened it. I’m hoping DJI will be offering something similar to the rode, like including lav mics. It m shooting with a Sony zv-e1 currently.

Are you aware of the Fulaim X5 / Neewer CM28? That's what I would buy. It's below $100 for two transmitters but more importantly, it has a much smaller receiver. The DJI is too large to put on my DJI Action, it just looks silly and I worry about it getting stuck and damaging the port. Besides, they are both 2.4Ghz which is limited. So the cheaper one is good enough (and has some internal backup recording)....

is your osmo action 1 or 3? from my experience, the dji mic supports action3 and action4.

@@tree3111 It's the 1. But it really doesn't matter, I know I can make it work with audio cable. It's just that the receiver is almost the size of the camera which defeats the purpose of a small light camera.

The DJI store has an Action 4 vlog combo that comes with the DJI Mic 2 which has the receiver and 2 mics. I'm really disappointed that the Action 4 still requires the receiver. Maybe the next Action cam will have it built in.

My mistake. it says DJI Mic 2Tx 1RX. I thought it was the Mic 2. maybe there's still a chance!

Well... glad to have bought the DJI mic. As you said, pure speculations on the DJI Mic 2, Black Friday came across and not even a hint came from DJI hahaha. And another thing, to be honest I have heard audio from DJI mic 2 on the Osmo combo, and it sounds horrible.

I listened to a lot of test videos, and I feel that the sound quality of DJI Mic2 on Pocket3 is quite good, but this is indeed a subjective thing.
