I've been using the older Spinfisher 5's as charter reels for many years, I have inadvertently been put in situations that they definitely were not meant for, they've been abused over the years but they're still holding up. I can only imagine the new Spinfisher's hold up even better. Very informative video Justin Thanks

I use my spinfisher 4500 for Sheepshead, Triple tail, and for other lighter offshore or heavier inshore stuff. It is heavy compared to comparable brands/models but like the video says...you do get more for that weight. And for me, the beefy-ness is perfect for the stronger fish.

I have the spinfisher v and vi live liner for my kayak and found that both had damaged side plate gaskets. They were both pinched, leaving a big gap allowing salt water to get into all the gears and the secondary drag. I love these reels, but it seems like quality control isn't as good as it used to be since they moved manufacturing to China.

ive used them for several years and i agree. ive ran some flag ship stuff and even still keep a cheapy walmart micro setup in my car but when im going on a trip where fishing is the trip and dont want to be let down the fierce series is absolutely gonna have my trust. sure there are absolutely specialized/different setups that will outshine it in their niche but for a balanced generalist cost effective setup it shines. pair it with a rod for what your looking to do, load the right line, grab some snacks and drinks and enjoy.

I bought one a month ago and used it for pike last week. I found it to be a very high quality reel. However, it takes quite a bit more effort to turn the handle. Is that normal? My other reels are so much easier to turn. I had to stop using it for awhile then go back to it an hour or two later. Is that normal for a reel to turn so hard?

Hi Guy's help req'd... one of those req'd features google won't find.... I am fishing for Sea Bass from a high cliff 100 meters (110 yards) with no access down... I gotta reel them all the way up, dead weight n all. I know most reels will reel up the fish but here's the deal... when reeling in water and reeling a dead weight (2- 2.5kg - 4lb)... that's a whole different league of power, smoothness and build quality. Kinda the ultimate test of a reel quality you could say. I am hoping some of you Guy's know which reels stand out for this? An open faced reel weighing around 485-500grams (1pound or just over) to match my rod and allow other uses. Thank You Guy's in advance.

I was gonna take the 4500 reef fishing for snapper, triggers, and jacks this summer with some vertical jigs. I use it for surf casting on an 8-1/2 rod throwing metals, epoxy’s and spoons in NJ and OBX. Used it about a month ago founder fishing bouncing 6 oz buck tails and it was good. I do have a shimano 4000 baitrunner OC and that seems noticeably lighter. The bail on the spinfisher is really nice seems like it will last forever. Also have a 6000 tsunami shield that is just ok. It’s still working but it’s not as smooth as the baitrunner or spinnfisher. I want to get something that I could use vertical jigging and possibly troll / pier trolley rig. I don’t fish that often to spend a ton of money on a conventional reel that would be for very specific use.

I have the Spinfisher VI 4500 am not 100% sold on it! The knob it comes with feels horrible when cranking the reel so I upgraded that. It's built solid no doubting that and the bail wire is nice and thick. It will probably last a very long time but I think the actual performance in casting let's this reel down. It cast like s***! Prefer an Okuma Helios or Daiwa Ballistic just because they cast better.

@geneodato6240 For me it was 100% the reel its a 4500 size so it's on the heavy side. I have tried a 40/4000 size in the Okuma Helios, Shimano Stradic & Nasci the are all better in the cast. I am using a 10 feet 20g to 60g spinning rod so am not using a light set up. Just at 354 grams (12.5oz) the Reel is on the heavy side and uncomfortable to use.
