I have the Spinfisher's in 7500 long cast version. Couldn't be happier, absolute workhorses, look the part as well and don't break the bank. Hat's off to Penn. *Coming from a guy who fished Shimano for 3 decades.

Just went Pier Fishing this Summer and hooked a few sharks, now I'm HOOKED on Shark Fishing! Immediately bought all new, to me, gear when I got home in anticipation of hitting the beach again. Bought 1-Spinfisher 6 8500LL, 2-Fierce 3 8000LL, 1-Fierce 4 6000LL, and 3 new rods. I am not playing around when I go back to Wilmington this time! With the exception of the Fierce 4, all came off of FB Marketplace at half of the price of new. I'm Hooked!!!

I have a Fierce III Live Liner and while I have caught some great fish on it, I do have some grievances. - When the spool is at its topmost position, it impedes the ability to release the bail. This top position can also cause the reel to engage the bail mid-cast which more often than not results in popping your line. - The live liner on this reel is still quite strong even at its weakest setting. It really requires a fish to take the bait with confidence. This has caused me to lose many fish. - Imagine these 2 scenarios happen at the same time. A cautious Gar takes your line but it's starting to realize something is fishy since your live liner drag is too strong. Then in a last ditch effort to save your fish, you choose to open your bail and freeline. The only issue is you can't for the life of you get the bail open with the spool in the way. You try to rip it off as hard as you can but the steel body is not giving. You've lost 16 runs now. =========================================== I've been experimenting with the Piscifun Carnivore and all of my grievances are remedied. It's a bit cheaper of a reel, but still saltwater rated. One negative is I don't think they make them in an 8000 series so you won't be able to use as much line.

Sorry, but these are all Chinese made garbage. I just bought a 1990s Penn 704z on eBay for $175. Unused with the original box. Not only that, the reel was professionally drilled out to make it a true surf reel. Made in USA. I will never have to buy another surf reel again. This reel will last two lifetimes. Leatherman still makes their tools in USA. Maglite still makes their flashlights in USA. Avet makes their reels in USA. There's no reason why penn can't do the same.

Any spinning reel with an extra drag system means extra parts, gears, and wear and tear. These are not like your 704. H Personally I don’t think that any company manufacturing in the US is using better parts. Everything you buy is made at the lowest possible cost to increase profit margins. Business 101. I hope they last me a long time but if I was trying to buy a reel that would last me my lifetime a simple Penn 309 conventional. $80 and very little parts to break
