I LOVE my Haymaker. I have a traditional German adjustable frame and a Green Lion. The Haymaker quickly became my favorite. I have small hands and wrists. The balanced weight makes all the difference and alleviates wrist and hand fatigue. The bottom part doesn't seem to get in my way, but it may be due to me having a different style bench pin.

I never noticed before that you cut out half the inner pattern and then circle back and can attack the other half from both sides. Thats the smart way to do it as opposed to the dumb way I've been doing it which is to pierce and then just circle the whole pattern in one pass. I always learn something from your videos. Thanks 😉👍

But I am having trouble getting my flex shaft bits to put accurate holes in the metal when I need to cut in the center of the peice. I noticed on your tools link in the description you have diamond bird listed but no "drill" bits is this what you use for holes?

I'm curious about their previous model, the curved one. I hate that the haymaker gets caught on the lube and other things, but otherwise a good saw frame. Worth the $75? No, but I still bought it. Concerning the rust, I use Frog Lube and it works like a dream. I live in Puerto Rico, you know, tropical island in the Caribbean. You know the one, 70 to 80% humidity. Yeah that's the one. Everything rusts here. So I bought frog lube, trusting a metalsmith society tip and it works like a charm.

The only frames I have is the Green Lion and the German Style and this is only because of budget. I have always wanted a New Concepts saw frame because I like the tensioning idea of it but I have to say since the Haymaker came out and I see the balance of the frame I have been drooling 😂 And lets not forget the design of the Haymaker.... Im sorry but I think I would look like a total bad ass if I pulled this saw frame out and who doesnt want to feel like a bad ass 😀... Thanks for a great review Randy!! I am also putting those Nano blades HIGH on my Christmas/Birthday wishlist. I have the German style, Knew Concepts, and the Green Lion. The Green Lion hands down is my fav. I feel I have so much more control with it and it seems to fit my hand well. The Knew Concepts frames are great and cut great but I very much dislike the hole the blade drops into and the twist knob to tighten the blade to the frame. For some reason I can't always get it secure and the blade slips out. The metal dust falls into the hole and along with the cut lube makes for a mess. I would love to have a Haymaker but just can't justify the money just for a new design. Maybe some day if I find a great sale. Thank you Randy for the demo. Always look forward to your videos!!!!

It won't slice your finger open. It will saw your finger open which is worse because it removes flesh. Don't believe me? Well then try it! I can't move the work around either. It sticks to the peg! Maybe some talc. Hmmm. Oh, I like the sound of the cutting at high speed! It's like a big moth against a window! I don't like the thinner handle on the German frames. I wound mine with sports tape to thicken it. I like my Knew Concept frame. Easier to get the proper tension. Easy peasy. But the Haymaker be sure is pretty! You gotta get the Knew Concepts titanium frame and review it against all your others! And then send it to me cuz you have enough frames! 😁😁😁🤪

Great review Randy! I too am a tool slut and have all the saws; Lion saw (love it) Knew Concepts - like/like it (I break blades from the tensioner before I ever even cut anything - it's as if each blade thickness needs a total adjustment to get it tight enough but not too tight. I load the blade, and as I swing over the lever, the blade breaks - 30% of the time. If I loosen it, the blade is saggy. I always cringe when loading the Knew Concepts saw, although once it IS loaded it's dreamy. Lion (Soba One) saw no probs ever about anything - except a bit of superficial corrosion). Lion Forge HayMaker, I got the shitty clamps originally but they've been replaced by Pepe, so I'm looking forward to trying it now. German saw, steadfast and true, but rusty and clunky sometimes. Bottom line: Love Chris from Lion Punch Forge, and he's worth the saw! The saw I reach for most: Lion (Soba One) saw. I'm open to being swayed!

The balance is sort of pointless.. but not entirely... but ultimately. The saw frame is not something that is wielded in the air, like a sword or an axe. So the entire time it is in use it will be under pressure, so what would be more critical is the balance of the tool under pressure.. on this front the haymaker should have an edge, because while its ability to balance on your hand is not really important, it is more front heavy than the old faithful... i doubt that little bit makes a difference (at least a difference that would outweigh working around those horns.. a significant addition of front heavi\Yves’s might provide some ergonomic benefit.. but again, would that be more horn? The rigidity on the other hand is not a gimmick.
