    Another EXCELLENT video! I sawed OFF the extra metal beyond the handle on the non- "C" side of my Haymaker saw; the big bulb shape and the shape with holes in it (what were those for anyway?)!!! It's aluminum, so it can be sawed off easily and those two parts of the saw are no longer in the way, bumping into my plate, the bench, easier to draw the blade through the bench based cone lubricant, and most of all it no longer falls off my pin when I'm loading a blade, etc. I recommend this DIY saw improvement! Chris designed a gorgeous and solid saw, and now....guess what, it's STILL balanced! It's such a better saw now, and I use it all the time without cursing.

    Hiya Lady Stardust, again, I knew I'd forgotten to ask something, so; the Knew Concepts, people say they will not use it as metal dust will drop into where the blade goes and block it up. Have you had any experience of this happening at all? Stay safe, Steve xx

    I found mine at a pound shop, but I've also seen it at a hardware shop and even at a craft store. It's a very thin tape and comes in various sizes (smaller or wider). I hope you'll be able to find something like this! ❤️

  • @TheArtOfMetalsmithing

    @TheArtOfMetalsmithing

    I got it from a shop called Aldi (similar to Lidl and other chain markets). It's just a regular small bench vice, not a particular brand, with an opening of about 7cm. Many shops have them with different names and colours (I believe it's a basic tool sourced from China, that shops buy and add their branding).

    I’ve just ordered the Haymaker saw frame how are you finding it to use , Hope it’s better than the adjustable steel one.

  • @TheArtOfMetalsmithing

    @TheArtOfMetalsmithing

    Жыл бұрын

    It's much better than the basic adjustable one! Absolutely. I think you'll like it a lot, I found it especially great for straight lines, circles and larger shapes, where the line has to be as even and smooth as possible. I personally think this frame is easy to control. Has a good weight and changing blades is fairly quick. Overall, a good saw frame as an upgrade from the budget one.

    @@TheArtOfMetalsmithing Great that’s good to know, I found the steel adjustable one gets in the way of my wrist, where the Haymaker doesn’t stick down at the back, and the Haymaker has more reach for larger work on sheets of metal 👍👍

    Hiya Lady Stardust, Great video of your tattoo, flowers? Not my name, okay not Jareks name? Oh alright, the sawing first, yes, an excellent tutorial video Dear Lady, even after all these years I learned something. You really are so very good at this you know? I like that you quoted the rules, the three teeth etc, but also shared why you use the blade size that you normally fit. Talking of fitting, very good of you to show the 'Haymaker' is it? Anyway, not the Knew with that wonderful cam action. Showing three ways of lubricating your blade was good too, simple beeswax to engineered top-of-the-line, all work, and work well so mainly taste. Rather than fingers to apply the lube and get it on my hands, I use a broken blade. I've always used Swiss blades but I keep hearing how good the blades you had are so I may just have to try them and see how easy I can break them too. Oops giving away too many secrets now... So a wonderful video, well up to your usual standard of teaching. Thank you. Now about that tattoo? Stay safe, you two, Steve xx...
