Bought my dx Gu td42 with 480 000 and just hit 560 000 last week. I brought her back from the dead, she wasnt loved but now its a different story. Shes been lots of places and has had alot of work done, safe to say you can buy high km cars as long as you are willing to repair/ replace and maintain.

Hi Aussie Arvos , thanks for the great content on your channel , its always good to watch . I too own a 1995 GQ TD42 leaf ute . I’m the 3rd owner its now got about 220000 kms on it . I too replaced plenty of parts on mine ( bearings, seals, hub kits, brakes, etc ) now it is just turn key , fuel/oil/filters . They are a great vehicle , go anywhere. The only mods to mine are 2’’ lift with constant 100kg springs front and rear , GU tray and 265/75R16 GU ute rims and tyres safari snorkel, it came with safari turbo fitted in 1997 and still going ( came with paper work and books ) What would be interesting is to see how many GQ leaf utes are still on the road today , keep up the good work and look forward to more content in the future

I love this truck. Keep it alive and just keep going with it! I hate the Raptor coating the body fad. It's going to end and then there are a lot of rigs with crappy dated paint, no one can remove. Base paint, let it get scratched and touch it up when you need to. If one is willing to Raptor coat, then obviously looks weren't that important to begin with, so why bother?

I heard you can do it yourself pretty easily but i didnt trust myself. Yea can change how rough you want the texture to be with air pressuer. The more psi you spray it with it will be less bumpy and rough and vise versa. Ps Ordered one of your stickers. Keen to slap it on the rig

Running cold is almost always down to the thermostat sticking open which keeps coolant circulating through the block even when the engine doesn't need it. It's a problem because the manufacturer will have designed that engine to run at a specific, narrow range of temperatures. As metal heats it expands. At the right temperature the gaps (tolerances) between moving parts will be within the "not too tight, not too loose" range. Running an engine constantly too cold forces those moving parts to operate when they are effectively "slopping about", leading to rapid wear. It's the reason most engine wear occurs during the warming up period and also the reason you shouldn't work a cold engine hard. The opposite of this is when an engine runs way too hot. Engines seize when too hot as parts expand so much that they can no longer move, eg. pistons within cylinder bores, etc. A real giveaway that you have a stuck-open thermostat is that when coasting (going down hill is a good opportunity to check) whatever little temperature is showing on the gauge will drop rapidly during the coast.

Good morning! My advice would be to treat the minor rust and clear coat(Matt finish) the body.Like they do with some classic cars/pick ups.I believe that you can hand apply a product that gives you that effect and protect the GQ’s natural patina.Having cut my 4x4 teeth in a 77 FJ40 30 years ago, I would suggest that you continue to repair the items that fail and invest in a suspension upgrade if anything.Reliability in a 4x4 is King.Save your money so that you can one day upgrade to a GU etc in the future. Most of all enjoy your truck, coz when you get to my vintage you’ll look back very fondly on your experiences in the “ol girl”.Enjoy.Cheers, Rob.

Majority of the time Australian made products are better quality and have longer warranties. I’d rather keep my money in the pockets of Aussie small business owners.

We should pay people 5 bucks a week and then weld bars on all the windows in workplaces so poor cunts can’t off themselves cos their lives are so shit, just like the factories in China do. If you want shit to get made here, then be prepared for the people making shit for you to expect to get paid a decent wage, which they have every right to.

@@themisunderstoodgorilla7030 Without the Unions mate you will not be living in the lucky country- in India your boss is your life whilst he makes $2million you make do with 20c and that is where Aussies will end up. The real reason for expense is the real estates pushing cost of housing requiring more money to be printed hence inflation plus the sleeping governments throughout Australia's history allowed the country to be bought off. By the way how can you compete with 1 AUD worth heaps in Asia? How is it your competitive cheap labour in Thailand costing $9000 to build a Dual cab ute is flogged off in Australia for $65K? on high km diesels just keep an eye on the timing belt. dont know about nissans but yeah timing belts can go as often as every 100k miles, so like every 160k-190k km. besides that most diesels dont need a ton of upkeep to get to even like 500k miles/800km. also if you have heat problems you could look into glowplugs, might be a pricey retrofit but they make cold starts basically a non issue
