Has it occurred to you all the contractors that make this show are too busy to work on it? The fact is puppets are big business already. And now there is more demand than ever mostly these workshops are doing custom work

I'd give money if we could get confirmation that the Henson Company is open to crowdfunding. The biggest issue with collecting money before we know if it'll go anywhere is making sure people will be refunded if the project falls through, and that's probably what the company would be worried about, too. If we make them know that we're willing to help, then maybe they'll do some kind of official fundraiser.

The Dark Crystal has been an important part of my life and I can't express how happy AoR has made me for the past three years, I definitely would contribute to this. Even it doesn't come in television form again any continuation of the AoR timeline is all we want!

Netflix shouldn't have posted every episode when it uploaded the series it should have made it weekly where people could have stayed subscribed longer and they'd have gotten better numbers of how many people were interested

IDK why not 🤷🏾‍♂️ when the only reason I subscribed to Netflix was SOLEY 2 watch DAOR 🧝🏼‍♀️🧝‍♂️ & when I find our they canceled the series, I deleted my account that same day. I re-subscribed months later JUST to re-watcg DAOR cuz I loved 💗 it SO much!!

I wonder how it will play out if we give the donated money to the Henson Company. How do we make sure they are gonna use it on The Dark Crystal? I think it's important that we have one or a few people who are the face of the crowd funding action. They are the ones who can ultimately contact the company and maybe write down some condititions before the donation is handed over.

I have been watching your channel for quite some time now, being an almost lifelong Crystal-Fan. I am deeply saddened by seeing this franchise basically sinking into oblivion at present - so I wholeheartedly endorse your idea. Alas, I can't help with the organizational aspects or recommend helpful websites...but I would gladly spend a sizeable amount of money to see the Dark-Crystal-Universe continued in almost any way, especially so in a season two for Age of Resistance, of course. I think it's great, we always have to keep trying. If we wish for TDC to become more widespread we have to keep trying, don't want this to die. Sites like "Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Patreon" are great. But one thing to look for is a plan, and specific people to make it happen, though that's all I got.

They did such a good job with the first season, especially with seeing how other IPs have been handled, that I'd be very willing to help fund something like this. I would also really love if they could put this out on DVD. I wonder if we could ask for other fandoms help as well. Like Star Wars Theory, Nerd of the Rings, and so on, in spreading the word for it.

YES 100% yes we should even if the company doesn't take it we'd still be getting the word out that the fans want more and are willing to pay for it then maybe just maybe Netflix will open there eyes and see the lost opportunity they made like we all loved arcane why is this any different (very aware ones a video game and the others puppets but the tone and the amazing writing make it feel like AoR could have had that same level of love arcane got)

Absolutely yessss, the first season was so good, if there was a way to get the show back on track making new episodes in the same way, writing, acting, atmosphere and everything as the first season, I would 100% support and help fund that 🥰🥰

I would definitely contribute if the Henson Co was onboard. Personally, I think they should take it over to AppleTV since they already have a good working relationship and we've seen how well the new Fraggle Rock went (keeping my fingers crossed for a second season of that too!!)

@@JMObyx yes! It came out back in January and it is so good that I cried. It is updated of course, but the heart and soul and charm are all there. The songs are all bangers and it looks as gorgeous as Thra does in Age of Resistance. One thing I love about the Hensons, they know how to use CGI really well, probably better than anyone else in the business, both AoR and Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock feel very similar in a lot of respects, especially the love of the worlds.

I think it’s a great idea, especially when I know that money is going to a good cause. I not only want a season 2, but I have a feeling there are more stores waiting to be told in one of those fictional words that makes me feel a sense of belonging.

I’m down. Im not sure what they did with the puppets, set pieces, and other equipment, but the fact that most of it was already made would/should cut their costs. And also save their time. It’s a shame they were not able to take advantage of that immediately, though I know it would have still been sooo much work. But money talks, and if that’s what it takes to show how much we want this, then I say we should at least try.

Crowd Funding has worked for media in the past, so I don't see why it wouldn't work here. There will be a lot of risks involved like all crowd funds, but like you said, it's more for the attention.

I would support it and see that it reaches attention. But you should reach out to the producers and get a benchmark what kind of money or eyes they would need to kickstart it. A campaign like that for a TV series could only hit that threashhold, not found the whole thing.

I think so yeah. Because I like what you said, it might not raise up to goal we (really) want, but it will definitely show the Hensons that we are still trying our hardest. And not just the Hensons!! Like you said the actors Ana Taylor joy, mark hamil, Taron egerton, Natalie Emmanuel they could start to see how lovable the show was. AND for other companies to see us like “wow they really want that show back” it’s a risk that we’ll have to take. And to be completely honest I’m comfortable with CGI, as long as it look real good, if they put that much effort into making a series with puppets and was successful, I know they can put the same amount of effort into cgi

The Netflix budget was a reported 25mil. If we can get a fraction of that just to create some buzz to get exec attention, it'd be worth it. I'm curious how the logistics would work though. Does the person who starts the crowdfund hold onto it until there's a concrete contract? What safeguards will there be to stop either the crowdfund person or Henson Co or the prospective network from absconding with the money and then just saying there were "complications" getting Dark Crystal off the ground?

Season one cost 93M. Netflix holds the distribution rights. You'd have to not only buy the rights back from Netflix for season one, but you'd need another 100M for season two. You're looking at over 200M total. The net worth for the whole of TJHC is less than that.

Yes for the love of God, yes! AOR was Amazing!! The storytelling, the world building, the craft of puppetry and cgi blended together! All of it was brilliant and I was heartbroken when I heard it had gotten cancelled.

Yes! I would absolutely love to see a crowd finding effort for more of this show and content. It’s one of the few creative works that is telling a compelling story and touching on themes that are meaningful.

I've thought many a time about it, even if just the subs on your channel alone gave €100 each (or the equivalent in dollars etc depending on where you are) it would a million raised alone, include other channels or the company themselves being able to raise the rest would surely get a season 2. I'd be more than willing to donate if it got my wish of the continuation for series I love.

That's the dilemma!

I love The Dark Crystal and definitely want a season two just like everybody else. But I don't think at this time crowd funding would do anything. The Henson Company have other things they are working on taking up their time and they aren't addressing the fans about season two not because they don't see us but because they have other things to do as of now. Maybe in the future if there is a point in time when they don't have plans, they might consider it. I believe that they know we want it. But a crowdfunding campaign will only work if The Henson Company is also on board with the idea. For now, the only thing I think we can do is keep our community strong and always hold out hope for the future of The Dark Crystal. I hope this post makes sense and keep in mind, this is only my opinion at this current time 💜 it can and probably will change in the future but for now this is my stance

I totally get you. And that is exactly the problem i'm having with it. It seems like a great idea on the surface, but there are so many moving parts it's hard decide how to actually move forward, or if it will do anything at all.

The jim henson company is working on a labyrinth sequel an the moment, if that end's up being successful maybe they will revisit dark crystal if they see how badly the fans want it.

Lisa Henson is CEO. Brian is chairman. Lisa was involved with AoR as exec. producer. Brian wasn't.

@@CountOrlok22 Ok. I thought it might have been Jim's oldest daughter that is CEO. I can't seem to keep it straight which is which in the company But if I remember correctly Brian was in charge of puppetry in some capacity. Also being that Brian is Chairman he might be easier to persuade.

Lisa is the oldest daughter. Cheryl is the second oldest. Brian is the third oldest. Heather is the youngest. Brian isn't too involved in production, so he wouldn't really be part of the channel to go through.

On top of that the series cancelation was more netflix move. So I would suggest getting all of Jim's kids together and see if maybe they could be convinced to start there own streaming service. All of Jim's work in one place.

I actually think a Henson platform would be good if there were enough content to populate it. Given the rights HBO and Disney have, however, that doesn't leave a ton, and TJHC just licensed most of their remaining shows through Shout Factory. Things look pretty grim at the moment all around.

Hate to say it, but this would be very unlikely just based on statistics. TJHC would love to do more TDC, but they don't have the money. Pure and simple. The cost of season one of AoR was literally more than the net worth of TJHC. It ultimately only happened because of Netflix. The community, while passionate, is relatively small and not particularly wealthy. Just to get the funds for production (not distribution or promotion, not reacquisition of rights, not physical media release), you're talking about 100M. If you look at the social media data, you can determine that the internet presence of TDC fans is about 200K. That works out to be about $460 per fan. Take into consideration that the most successful crowdfunding project had about 85,000 supporters who collectively only reached 20M. It's just not feasible.

And that's exactly the problem i was trying to work out. It seems like a good idea on the surface, but when you start getting into the details it doesn't seem like it would work. Too many unknowns and not enough support. Plus, as others were mentioning, an individual can't really set up a campaign. It would have to come through the JHC or Netflix themselves, and as you mentioned, we already know the answer to that. I appreciate your input!

i don't know i don't think more money is the solution here i mean lets remember it was not the Henson company that canceled the show, Netflix did and them pulling the rug out from under is what really stalled everything not to mention it might be a rights issue Netflix not doing anything with a property nor being willing to sell the rights back wood not be out of character for them and they already have season one so the Henson company going anyware else for season 2 might not currently be posable

Thank you! You just have to keep writing. I have many books self published and 3 ongoing series, so eventually you'll get noticed if you keep producing!

I don’t think this needs to be an 8 minute video. It’s a simple yes or no question. The answer, if you want more Dark Crystal, is yes. The real question is whether the fans raise enough money for another season, or if, like Firefly/Serenity, they raise enough money for a capstone movie that ties up the plot of the series.

I hate to agree, but it's true. Judging by the views, even on my most recent DC videos, it seems like the fandom itself has been steadily vanishing. That's why i wanted to make this video, to see what all the different opinions were. To be honest never had a great feeling about it, but at least wanted to present the idea.

It could be a contraproducent idea that can end up wrong, let me explain my point and why, it deppend about the proper execution of this 'idea'. A mistake cand end up buring the franchise and this is why, if you are aware there is a cultural politic war in real life occuring in our present days. People are just tired of woke and cancelation culture, in fact... if you analize deep the pure source material and the inspiration symbology on Jim Henson's story, you can find that his messege is against this 'woke' revolution that can end up devastating the world, if woke material is integrated in a wrong way inside the product the reception of this naturaly is going to be bad, I know, I'm aware that some people of that ideology says that likes the 'Dark Crystal' but I doubt that they will end up supporting the project knowing that it contradicts their believes and by the other side... corrupt the true messenge will end up triggering the cringe of the true fans, just like in the case of the 'Rings Of Power'. Have that in mind before make something about, the Dark Crystal has certain topics that can be very polemic now in this days... since is a crytice that exposes the corruption of the system and the degradation of the society and moral, the rejection of the true nature ways, if you know what I mean... plus all that manifests in a dark energy and livin entety that consumes the world... no wonder why was canceled in first place without a season 2. Force people to accept and consume your product with cohersion and or emotional manipulation isn't the way too.
