Andy and Brenden discuss on Wednesday's KTGR Big Show after Game 1 of the Cardinals-Royals doubleheader whether Oli Marmol should drop Paul Goldschmidt lower in the Cardinals lineup.
His woes with RISP in 2024 have been troubling and from the cleanup spot, he's having quite a few opportunities with RISP (in fairness, he did have a swinging bunt go as a hit with RISP in the nightcap after this was recorded Wednesday afternoon).

Dropping Goldy to the bench would be the biggest upgrade they could make, and it would be free. But this is the Cards, we know how this will go...they will sneak into the playoffs, get crushed while Goldy goes 1 for 13 with 6 strikeouts, then start next year with something they could be figuring out right now like Wilson/Burly/Donovan or a platoon of them, and then acting like it was some top tier offseason move they conjured up after weeks of pouring through data.

B, I think at this point maybe ride the hotter and flip flop him and Arenado, then place Gorman in the 6 hole.

The vibe inside the stadium was very disappointing. The fans came in expecting to see the red hot cardinals. People weren’t mad but just shocked
Winn,burly, Contreras, Donavan, nado,noot,goldy,gorman,siani/edman. I know donnie isn't a normal 4 hitter but, goldy is the last guy you want up with risp. This is a left right lineup
If it's bothering Goldy yes. Otherwise I have faith in him.

Dropping a doubleheader against the Royals. Don't be surprised if they drop 3 of 4 against the Cubs
drop goldy 9th than if he doesnt hit there drop him to the bench if he still doesnt hit then DFA him.of course none of this will happen because oli does not have the sack to tell goldy he is dropping him in the lineup
