Should Saudi Arabia worry? Biden warns of consequences over OPEC+ oil cuts • FRANCE 24 English

There will be consequences. Joe Biden's warning to Saudi Arabia after Riyadh sided with Russia and other OPEC-Plus nations and agreed to cut oil production. What consequences does Biden mean? For their part, Gulf states argue they're not trying to bankroll the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine but prop up a price of crude threatened by the spectre of a global recession and slowing demand.

The US could ban oil exports - in fact, it would only take an executive order, not even an act of Congress, to do so - in which case the US market would become quite saturated, and there would be an immediate decoupling of the US domestic market with the global market. This would send global oil prices well above $100 a barrel, but in the USA, there would be a functional price ceiling of around $75. However, this would have a very negative impact on US allies in Europe and East Asia, and so the Biden administration is wise not to do so. A future administration might not take such a global view though, so be careful what you wish for.

He's telling you "oil is not gas" and that's true. But gas comes from oil. Less oil = less gas. Less available oil to make gas and less gas in the system means higher prices. i'm pretty sure US does have something to do with their production of actual gas. Whether the US told them to not mention back the scaling back of oil is dubious. And he provides no evidence. And then he said that they were "meddling in the election" which is at best the least generous interpretation of what he then went onto describe. But sounds more like creating a narrative which paints the Biden administration as the villains while Saudi Arabia cuts the SUPPLY OF AVAILABLE OIL which is less available to make gas. The Biden administraion should STFU about consequences and actually do something or he's going to look weak if he doesn't or screw us over in the long term if he does.

So when President Joe Biden ask the US Federal Reserve to raise interest rates aggressively there is a massive shortage of US dollars on the international market. This created a problem because OPEC member need US dollars to buy food and weapons and other things. (Also, a lot OPEC member don't like or trust other countries currencies). So that in turn forces OPEC members to produce more oil to get US dollars.

Sure petrodollar provided cushion to its currency but it is also because of its deep capital markets and limited manipulation unlike china that people trust dollar as reserve currency. It's no longer just oil buying currency but serves as reference for valuing other currency too due to size and impact of us on global economy

Economically, Saudi is at the stronger position compared to USA. Actually US dollar lifeline is depended do much on Saudi. However, US is not the only Saudi friend. In fact US is a BAD and ungrateful friend. Saudi has been a savior and life support for US dollars for nearly 100 years. Its an urgent for Saudi to distance it self from USA economically, politically and militarily.

We cant see one-sided. hopefully thers a clear reason to diversify sources for energy and food all over the countries in the world. i think that everyone should work towards better understanding of each other and stop making it worse. US may not be the `friend` tought, but are we really creating a better World , or just trying to fix old systems that cant hold of in a world that persons can think, make opinions, learn and make difference?

This is what US deserved. US, EU, and NATO don’t think about their civilians, they only think about their profits. If it’s for political reason, then it means Saudi doesn’t happy with Biden government. US is also Nuclear country which has the most war after WW2. Also, If they think about world peace, what about the conflicts in Ethiopia? Like the Western country say, Saudi took aside of Russia, then Saudi might got tired of US.
