3 weeks in on keto, I brought up intermittent fasting with my husband and he refused to skip breakfast as breakfast food is his favourite food! I said okay, then we will skip dinner, which was easy for me because I hadn't even been hungry for dinner since starting keto. Now, we have a great breakfast, and a large meal around 2-3 pm, and fast the rest 16:8. He finds he isn't even hungry for dinner anymore either and we don't really feel like we are missing out socially. Our health is more important than social gatherings, during which we simply bring our water bottles and still mingle just fine. We sleep better too without a full stomach.

In July - August I decided to lose weight,I substitute dinner meals for fruit smoothies (papaya, mango, pineapple). And I started to drink a lot of water. After a few weeks I noticed the change in my body,I sleep better, woke up feeling less fatigued, cleaner guts, more energetic ,etc. So Then I decided to quitted coffee ,sugar, sodas and energy drinks candies, cake, sweet bread ,junk fast food, etc.(I have ADHD so this was a good decision for me) If I feel like a want something sweet I had some fruit . In September I started skipping dinner and I only ate two meals ,breakfast and lunch . Cause I going to bed feeling hungry every night, every morning when I wake up (5:30-6:00 am)I’m starving ,so I have some eggs, breakfast tacos or some fruit. At lunch(12:00 pm-2:00 pm )I eat a heavy meal (meat, vegetables, rice, beans) After lunch I only drink water if I feel hungry before 5:30 I’ll have a fruit or some nuts, after 5:30 I don’t eat anything at all. When a child, I noticed that after having a late dinner (supper) I would wake up hungry. And if I didn’t eat long enough before bed I wasn’t hungry in the morning. The same went true for the other meals! After missing breakfast I wasn’t hungry for lunch, and if I missed lunch I could well miss dinner! So I came up with a conclusion: the less you eat the less you want it, and vice versa. )) Now I realize that was wise body work!

Since I have followed fasting regimen I feel better after flight and lost weight significantly. Yey😊👍. Thanks for your information. I do dead late shifts and always eat afterwards and then go to bed for an early shift, but can't sleep right due to digestion, stressed about sleeping, cortisol goes up, etc etc... tha k you and you're amazing, well done for sorting something out!!!

I'm always hungriest when I'm about to get on the road to work, at 6 a.m. I pack my keto breakfast and lunch into a cooler to take with me. Denying myself breakfast until 9 a.m. is an astronomical effort. Once I eat breakfast and lunch til completely satisfied, it's easy to stop eating at 1 or 2 until the next morning. A bit of broth before bed is enough to tide me over til morning.

Fascinating and so helpful! Dr. Fung is awesome! I didn’t know why I wasn’t hungry in the morning and now I know why. Knowing that skipping dinner is the most effective is very motivating; and knowing it will be easier to skip dinner when I don’t have to worry about being social - such as when I’m traveling, or my boyfriend is gone. Appreciate the tips for dealing with the habit, swapping for a good habit (never heard before about cider vinegar & chia seeds)and especially the tip that hunger just doesn’t continue to build, that to ride the wave, and it will decrease ... For me, keeping busy helps a lot too: sometimes I miss lunch this way without even thinking about it....

My tummy is getting smaller and my skin is better and I am cutting down on my exercise to give my body rest in between. At the same time, I still could reduce my weight without exercise much.

Now I have come down to 500mg metformin once a day. My eating window is from 10 AM to 4 pm and I have split my 2 meals to the equivalent of 3. This has kept me going psychologically that I ate my 3 meals. My breakfast is the biggest meal, with dinner being the smallest. I also do about 45 minutes of yoga just before I open my fast and 45 minutes cardio in evening around 7 pm. I am soon going to be 50 years in age and have decided to keep this as my lifestyle. Thanks much much for the concept of intermittent fasting!!

I have been battling my weight for many years and tried many things, I am also extremely active and spend roughly 2 hours at the gym, but I couldn't shed the excess weight. I tried intermittent fasting (low carb) 6 months ago and it has done wonders for not only my body weight but also my health. I was able to successfully control my diabetes, my A1C went from 11 to 5.2 from my last result. As for skipping meals I find that dinner is easier for me. First as a retail manager my work day is usually from 11-8 which means I won't get home until 9 by then it is easier to just not eat the rest of the night. Also I feel like I'm the opposite. I wake up in the morning and within an hour I get extremely hungry, so I usually break my fast with 2 organic eggs along with coffee w/ cream no sugar. I just want to spend this time to share my experience as well as thank Dr. Fung for your great content, I follow you and Dr. Berg and it has really help me with a lot.

I guess I'm the opposite because I'm always starving when I wake up and least hungry toward dinnertime.

I've heard that it might be because your blood sugar level is low when you wake up. That is not a bad thing, it's related to what types of food that you ate for dinner. Most important thing, is that it works for you. You should know what's best for you to do.

I’m new to intermitten fasting. Going on about a month now. I’m still working it out a bit. I started with 16/8. Now I’m adding a 24 hour fast once a week. So far it’s been easier to skip breakfast. And I’m not as hungry as I thought I would be. I break my fast at noon and stop eating at 8 pm since I usually work until 7 pm. But I find I’m not really starving at 8, so I have something small. Lunch is usually where I’ll have the bulk of my food. I have lost 80lbs doing a low calorie diet, but I have hit a plateau. And I can’t seem to loose belly fat. I’ve been finding your videos very educational and so full of great tips. It’s really been helping me start this new journey. My next hurdle is to try and cut back on the carbs. I still find myself counting calories since I’m used to it and since I don’t cook or meal prep I usually eat out at lunch time or have a baked potato with cottage cheese. My breakfast most mornings was low calorie toast with peanut butter and sugar free jelly. But since I’m skipping breakfast I’m not having that bread in the morning. Hopefully I’ll break this plateau and learn to eat better. Thank you.

Skipping breakfast is important in order to let your body to complete the cleaning cycle (that starts around 4am and lasts 8 hours to 12pm). It's not all about losing weight.

For my lifestyle I skip dinner. I tend to get together with family and friends for lunch. My window is 6am-2pm but I tend to have my last meal at 12:00. So I’m fasting 18:6

Hi Dr. Fung, Thank you for posting this video. The most important thing I've realized upon reflection is that calories count regardless of which meal is fasted through. I fast through breakfast, eat lunch, and dinner. Now my portiions for lunch and dinner are smaller and more focused on protein. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with these videos. I have your books and periodcially read back through them.

Thank you for doing the comparison between the 2 meals and explaining the hormone activity at the various times of day. I am a non-breakfast eater. Have been that way since in my twenties. I am 54 and perimenopausal so my hormones are another issue and for the past 2 years it seems like I cannot lose weight no matter what I try. I am going to not eat dinner every other day to see if that gives my metabolism the boost it needs.

I had been on Keto and OMAD for several months and was not seeing the results I wanted. I was drinking coffee in the morning and tea late in the day. I quit all caffeine 100 days ago. CAFFEINE =HIGH CORTISOL= HIGH INSULIN = INSULIN RESISTANCE = FAT. I have lost 45 lbs and over 22 inches overall. I exercise daily and go to the gym 2 to 3 days a week. Quiting all CAFFEINE was a big game changer for me. I'm a 74 yr old female who feels great. Still going on my plan.

Thank you Dr Fung! I’m 5 lbs from reaching my summer goal weight. I’ve been following your tips and I’ve gone from 238 to 205 in 15 weeks. Hopefully I can be between 170-175 by the end of the year.
