Good information Dave, thanks for sharing. I have the slightly older large view helmet, I'll never go back to a standard helmet. ATB...

Hello Dave, I totally agree about the professional atmosphere videos... It is very hard to tell what is really good when associated with an affiliate link... but to temper that everyone has different different standards so someone's good may be someone's not so good. Good to hear you are keeping well. Take care. Paul,,

Gday Dave, I’ve noticed that with channels trying to be like a tv show, now I have the faceplate table it’s much easier sitting to start and end the video, biggest thing I notice is a lot of YT machinist never seem to ever make a single mistake but if you watch closely you see a different piece of material appear and nothing said, that shits me in a way, everyone makes mistakes and showing it can help someone watching not make the same screwup, making videos to me is all about sharing your knowledge and skill and learning from others…

a "professional atmosphere" is you behind your bench, Tom (OxTools) in front of his machines and many more of you in the work shop at the machine. It is fun to sometimes see behind the scenes so next time shoot a clip of what your camera setup looks like. I think we would all be amazed at how the setup looks like. I've seen some great videos taken with the most simple setup and some bad videos that used a wealth of professional equipment. Your videos are always a treat for eye and ears: good video and good audio. I know that there were some moments where these were not to your liking but it's amazing to see how consistent the quality of your videos is

Dave for T welding you dont need second ground. As you start you will pushup de beed. In welding video, you must be very attentive to check light wrist movement. Professionnal welder make a slight raise movevement in a z form weld and the stay up a little bit more in the up position since beed will sag down

Dave ive watched your videos for years. Ive very rarely comment on anything. But welding is how i made my living. Ive welded for over 40 plus years and watched many of people start out. Things to be considered before ever buying a welder is what do you want to weld. Sheet metal, mild steel 1\8" up to 1\4", or do you want to go bigger 1\2"up to 1" and as long as you are only going to weld steel, i would go with a Mig welder a 110 wall socket welder does not have enough current to weld anything over sheet metal. The flux core wire you are using was developed to be able to weld outside where wind is a factor on the gas. And so people could weld without adding the gas to there unit. To get the best welds on a mig unit you will need to add gas to it. And you will need to step up to a 220 current welder if you want to weld 1\4" and up steel. As far as the ground is you only need one ground. Mill scale will also make you loose ground. Grind all steel to remove mill scale. Now if you want to weld aluminum you will need a Tig unit and that is a hole different type of welding . And any professional shop that says they are using a small 110 welder is a shop i would not want to go to. I run a miller matic 250 mig unit and a lincoln square wave 275 tig welder. All 220 current . Your best up grade you could do to your welder is to add gas to it and get away from flux core wire. You will find you could make much better welds. Good luck.

I'm sure you saw later videos where I did add 75/25 gas and tried MIG. What a difference over flux core. And being a 110 machine, I'm surprised you can easily blow a hole in 16 gage at half voltage. I went this way because I don't have 220 in the shop. Really appreciate your comment. Cheers.

I'd like to know what "professional" said the little Titanium was their "go-to" machine. That's insane. Clean the mill scale off the material you are trying to weld. That will help with the continuity. I've never needed more than one work clamp (some call it a ground clamp - incorrectly).

@@TheMiniMachineShop I have been a certified welder for 10 years. I don't do ti every day, but there's no way that would be my go-to machine.
