I’m starting my first year of highschool pretty soon and we just started open gym I’m super exited for my first real year without COVID I’ve already been called up by the varsity coach asking my how long I’ve been playing and who I played for after hitting two spikes Im also going to a camp at my dream collage for 4 days I really want to play for them when I graduate highschool. Hey Erik! Loved the video as always. I’ve been getting pretty mixed opinions on this question from the internet, and I don’t really have a coach to ask, so I figured I’d shoot my shot. If a ball is coming slowly and you need to add power to get it to your setter, do you add power with your legs or with your platform/shoulders? In other words do you shrug your shoulders vs swinging your platform up vs standing up slightly from a squat?

The older way of teaching would say you should generate the necessary force through your legs not moving your platform. The newer way would say you should move your arms to pass the ball because there is less chances to make a mistake if your legs aren’t moving. In the end you should try what is working best for you

The sleeves are for passing in volleyball, especially with the speed of some serve that can hurt your forearms so they’re meant to alleviate some pressure

Erik could you please share some knowledge about rotations, why is libero defending 6 often instead of 5?
