its pretty cool but also imagine, Ran Takahashi just a year ago was only able to watch these big name international players from afar and now he is literally face to face with them. just love that for him 😙

Japan is one hell of an impressive team. Super skilled in their passing but mostly impressed with their height. Just nuts. I mean I don’t think alot of people understand how hard it is to play amongst players nearly 7-9 inches taller than yourself. Nishida is barely 6ft. The setter is what…. 5’9”?!?!🤦🏽‍♂️😳 Just insane. Their tallest player is around 6’8” maybe. Not certain but they have to be one of the shortest teams in the world playing at that level and playing that well.

Japan is a fun team. I do not agree that having glaring weaknesses are something I'd equate with being "impressive". It's really not impressive to always lose, not sure why some are pretending it is.

11:07 IF you look closely at Erik, you can tell even if Micah was mad everytime Team usa got some receive, he was constantly encouraging them at the backline 11:18. and the celebration at the end was VERY Colorful for the team!!

I kinda don't want to bring up your age but i started rooting you guys since Rio Olympics. I generally enjoy watching US, Japan and the Russia volleyball team plays. So much of character

Takahashi Ran's Higashiyama vs Rakunan high school match was in late 2019 😅 so no erik, ur not that old since it wasnt that long a go either 🤣 he was called in for national team in february 2020, just moments before graduating high school. Vnl is basically his international debut stage-- He's still in college now and playing for his university :]

here after watching the cev eurovolley men's final 🔥🙌🏼 love all the praises for yamamoto, i'm a fan of ishikawa but i think yamamoto is team japan's pillar of support, his serve receives and floor defense are just amazing. great video as always!

Hey Erik! Love the videos. Wanted to let you know in case you didn’t that you could tap the period key (.) when the video is paused to go frame by frame forwards in the video. Similarly, the comma key can be used to go backwards. Could be good for those moments where you pause and play the video to find specific points in the rally. Can’t wait for more videos!

I remember there was a reaction video where Erik talked about how Ishikawa and him used to be old teammates. Specifically, Erik was talking about Ishikawa's consistently practiced transitioning from spike motion to set motion. I forgot which video that was though.

Do you find that float serves are harder to pass than jump serves? For whatever reason, I get excited for jump serves and super nervous receiving floats. Love this analysis of past matches, and not just seeing highlights but what could've been done better

Hey Erik, i have a question for you: me and 5 other people on my team where offered to a Kader Training( in Germany this is a Training where high lvl coaches look at you and if they think your good you get a offer to join the team of like a state so like of California but in Germany so its smaller, my problem/question is: out of us 6 only 2 will get to take place at the training and we think it will destroy the atmosphere of the team what should we do? Edit: we think it will destroy our atmosphere because our season will start soon.
