If there's one pitcher the 2022 WS champions Astros the least wanna face, it would be Ohtani. He pitched against the Astros in 5 games, the Angels won 4 of them and Ohtani never gave up more than 1 run in any of the 5 games. The Astros' team batting avg, obp and ops against Ohtani in 2022 are 0.196, 0.239 and 0.491.

Ohtani is the real MVP🏆 I like Judge and he was great but let's be real, there's no player in all of Sports more Valuable then Superman Shohei, for Judge it's easier to be good at 1 then being good at 2 like Ohtani, the Yankee fans are gonna say he plays defense, yeah standing like a statue in the outfield making 1or 2 plays a game, by the way Pitchers play defense also and they do it 60 feet away, and Shohei is one of the best defensive pitchers, he's a 3 way player

Should won the AL Cy Young and AL MVP. Shohei only had one day of rest between starts compared to 4-5 days rest for all AL pitchers. That stat is never considered.

The fact that he’s better at bat one year and better on the mound another year really tells he is a real 2 way player. I don’t know which one is better this year, but he can be better than anyone on both sides. Crazy though

I Agree, but the sad part is next season there will be another player or a bunch of players that's gonna hit alot of home runs and fans are gonna try and make a case for their mvp like they did for judge, what judge did has been done by 18 players in the last 25 years alone, hit over 50 to 60 home runs, but what Ohtani has done no one has dominated Pitching and Hitting since only one player Babe Ruth a hundred years ago ⚾️

Isn't team performance and HRs too much of an influence on MVP selection and too little recognition given to a two way and DH players?

@@brendonbuffaloe8830 Did you read about research report that in 2022 Yankees was using three different kinds of baseballs in their games: The Flying baseballs manufactured by Yankees, the less flying baseballs, and the Non-flying official baseballs?! This report was helped by some MLB pitchers in other teams. The pitchers collected the baseballs after playing games against Yankees and passed to the research institute. The Flying baseballs were mostly used, especially in Yankees stadium. That's why Judge and his teammates were able to have far more HR than other teams like Angels which has been using the Non-flying official baseballs only! This also explained why Judge and his teammates were unable to make hardly any hits during 2022 playoffs. That meant Judge would have far less HR without the Flying baseballs and Shohei would have to be MVP of 2022 instead! However, MLB refused to investigate in this case because afraid of scandal for Yankees would hurt the MLB in total even MLB knew the using of Flying baseballs from Yankees!

If his teammates can get on base. 😆 They are never on the same page as Shohei, except for Trout when he's healthy. A baseball team cannot be carried by 2 great players. It takes a team effort. If they can't get it done this season, Shohei will leave.

Ohtani could've finished 1st or 2nd for the Cy Young in the National league, he had similar numbers of Sandy Alcontra went 14-9 2.28 ERA 207 Ks Ohtani went 15-9 2.34 ERA 219 Ks Maybe next year Shohei will win the MVP & the Cy Young ⚾️

As an Angels fan, I don't want to see him in the WBC, and risk injury. His work load is too heavy as it is, and he has nothing to prove in the WBC. The WBC is an exhibition series that has no meaning. However, I wish Ohtani luck, and will be rooting for him. He's the only reason why I'll consider watching the WBC.

It shows bias, an astros writer should be able to recognize a talent like his even when they are in the same division. That’s crazy because being in the same division means they faced each other more, and we all know how astros are just a menace towards all team but Shohei managed to show his dominance, I think he only lost once or twice right? This is why I don’t take these award’s seriously, it’s all bs.
Mets payroll almost at half a billion...and I still expect Cohen to have the biggest offer for Shohei XD crazy times

If Ohtani is not the MVP of this season, there is no hope for the future of the other 2-way players. How will they stay motivated if they find out that they will not be given any awards or honors for doing something harder than anyone else at this level? Since few players can continue to work hard without greed like Ohtani, they will probably focus on one or the other and try to achieve better results. I feel that MLB and the media have closed the door that Ohtani opened.
