Never seen a hitter pull his hands in and get around a pitch so quick, keep that kind of power. Closest I've seen, it was David Ortiz, who could get around on inside pitches like that for power. It's the reason why Papi has success against Mariano when no one else could.
@cowboy7170

It seems like he can swing the bat at any angle. Even like a golf swing if necessary for those low pitches below the strike zone.
I'm Australian and a cricket fan. Sometimes in cricket a batsman just creams a shot out of the sweet spot, but it's effortless with such efficiency it's almost like his leaning into the shot, just using the pace of the ball and 'helping' it over the fence. That first shot of Ohtani reminded me of that so much. The whole round bat thing obviously makes this far more skilful an achievement.

Superman Shohei Ohtani and Sadaharu Oh with Ichiro Sazuki is now three of the greatest baseball player's ever from Japan. They talk Bonds with 752 home runs in his 22 seasons, Sadaharu Oh had 868 HRs also played 22 seasons all with the Yomiuri Giants. And Ichiro's 4,367 career hits should be the record over Rose 4,256 hits.
Dodger pays him 2 million a year for the next 10 years while making interest on the money they don’t have to pay him immediately. With inflation, the 680 million he will get from 2034-2044 will have same value as around $300 million currently. That’s Jaylen Brown money. So Shohei is the best bargain in American sports.
I absolutely love that call for the first home run

I'm only watching baseball because of the Ohtani legend in the making!
Just give it to him already. 3rd MVP in 4 years sho-time Ohtani-San

I'd lovvvve to see Shohei come back in a Mariano Rivera like "shut down closer" role.... 15-20 pitches a pop could be the best way to preserve his durability ...not crazy about the pitching full game on his arm. He could be done pitching after a season or two on a second surgery.

Every year I hear people doubt Ohtani… then like clockwork Ohtani proves he’s the best. Year. After year.
Ohtani is not just a DH; he's also a rehab pitcher and is doing throwing rehab program every other day like any other rehab pitcher. Ohtani's hitting stat is so crazy and he is so brilliant and shining at the plate that pp keep forgetting about he is also working hard to recover his pitching ability little by little. Ohtani answered to interview that he missed pitching a lot but at the same time he also likes having more time to concentrate on hitting. Ohtani is always a 2 way player mentally and physically, though he can't do more for pitching this season as restricted pitches, throwing distance, and limited strength are regulated according to rehab program. Therefore Ohtani could only release his stress of unable to pitch on the mound by putting all extra energies on hitting and running/stealing bases. Ohtani probably would challenge his limit as a DH to replace what he missed from pitching. As fans, we hope he can win his 1st NLMVP by DH alone, which would be the 1st for MLB.
All the haters and people waiting for him to fail are pissed off right now 😂
