Triumph Washington dealer in pulborough service was awful. They said to me my front brake calipers were seized so I have to buy new ones, this cost me £1000 to do so I asked for my old calipers back and I unseized them myself in 30mins, so they lied to me. Not only this they tampered with my rear caliper which fell off while I was riding it was still connected to the brake line bounced around my rim and damaged the rim I also nearly fell off the bike at speed. When I told them what happened and said to them they have to repair it free of charge they denied that it was their fault.....now I have to take them to small claims court. Absolute jokers

I have a 1995 Triumph Daytona 1200 with a valve service stamp from a large uK dealer. I checked them myself 2k miles later. There is no way the shims were ever swapped out where required. I did them myself. If you are not confident swapping shims, especially with shim under bucket camshaft out job at least try to measure them yourself for peace of mind.

Hi Willie . I run a small bike workshop . I sell bikes and service bikes . Its got good enough that a dealer lets a bike go with out giving the bike a very close inspection. Lives are far more important than profit. I dont need to advertise it all by word of mouth. Once a bike had been severiced then the bike get a good clean. I compile a full report for the owner on the condition of that bike and advise on any work that would be needed in the future. Great stream and your 100% correct. 👍👍👍

We bought a tiger 800 from the triumph dealer on the sunshine coast in Qld Australia, I have never met or experienced bigger liars and absolute ignorant BS artists than the manager and his offsider. Regarding your friends dealer story, here in SoCal that's tame; I've had a dealer charge a belt in ducati picked up up with a smile on my face and as I'm riding off 3 streets away I get pulled away by a cop. Appearantly my entire tail section wasn't working. Rode back to the dealer after getting my ticket and they tell me they're not sure, 2 minutes later they say the main rear electric connector has snapped. They also claim it must have been like that prior and I know for fact it wasn't. Anway lots of back and forth they finally made it right, however ive had just as bad experiences at Triumph dealers, for example went into one Triumph dealer to buy my wife a street twin and they legit tell us that because she's a woman she can not test ride a bike but a man can. No joke. That dealer is now out of business, though. I sadly can go on.

I had an issue way back, with a new Yamaha XVS 1100. Every time I took it in for service i.e. the first three, which came around pretty quickly as I was riding a lot, they told me that the rear pads needed replacing. When I questioned this third replacement, they said that they would look into it. I didn't hear back from them until they called to say that the bike was ready for collection. When I asked about the rear brake, they told me that the mechanic had adjusted the chain and it was alright now. The XVS doesn't have a chain as it is shaft drive. I took the bike from this main dealer's to a local mechanic who showed me the completely worn rear pads, that had been put back on, rendering the bike unsafe. I only went back to the dealer's one more time and that was just to throw the worn pads at them! They closed a few months later.

I bought a Tiger 800 from my local Triumph main dealer. Within a week I noticed it had a minor oil leak that took three visits to get sorted (just a loose bolt in the end). It wasn’t sorted until I’d assessed where the leak was coming from and got a technician out of the workshop to highlight exactly where the problem was - they hadn’t been able to diagnose it on my first two visits, despite me leaving the bike with them each time, and told me at the second visit to go home and find the leak myself. I normally use main dealers for servicing. I had absolutely no technical skills or knowledge at that time, but seeing how they operated was enough to put me off ever using them for servicing; I use a well-known and respected Triumph specialist instead. It’s also put me off upgrading to a new Tiger 900 as the specialist I use can’t service the newer bikes. The dealership has therefore lost many thousands of pounds income from me over the last seven years simply because they repeatedly demonstrated a lack of interest and skill in solving an issue, and Triumph have lost a bike sale.

A dealer in france failed to connect the running light on a new bike. I over tightened the chain deliberately to see if they follow the actual service schedule for the first major service came back the same. For warranty I took it in for the second one. They didn’t do the valve clearance just oil swap. I don’t need another now before the warranty finishes. They will never get my custom again. I did my own valve clearance and will my own services from now on.

Good dealerships are hard to find. So far I havent been able to and ive owned bikes of many big brands. My current honda was bought new, I noticed vibrations from the front wheel since the first ride home on it. Mentioned it to the dealer, they tested and said its normal (i know it wasnt), I went to my local tire guy and had him check it, spoke tension was off, the wheel itself wasnt balanced so i paid him to fix. All problems fixed since then, I told this to my dealership and they claim he lied to me and that nothing was wrong... right lol.

A couple of years back I was in the process of buying a Triumph Bonneville from a (UK) Triumph Dealership. Asked that they upgrade the indicators to the Triumph accessory led ones. Don't know what made me do it but on picking the 'bike up I tested the indicator operation. The rear indicators showed flashed with opposite indication i.e. switched for a left turn the right rear flashed and vice-versa. Turned out that the colour-coded rear connections were cross-matched !!! Apart from the colour-coded wires being incorrectly aligned, surely a decent dealership would do a function test after making such an upgrade !!! (Made me wonder how they would cope with adjusting the tappets !)

You are not cynical at all, just factually correct. I guess they are on such piss poor money, they couldn’t care less about service, which is my experience too for what it’s worth. Poor dealers are only interested in selling you the bike, that’s it. Good dealers look at the bigger picture and not only want to sell you a bike, but maybe a few more in the future too. I’ve now found a reasonable dealer so happy days, although good reputation takes a while to build and seconds to lose. Enjoy your channel - congrats with the subscribers! Webbo

I would never buy another triumph as the experience I had with a Daytona and two triumph dealership was terrible. Without going into details they told me they would have to replace an under seat arrows factory fitted exhaust costing £1400.00 and would not guarantee that would stop the engine management light coming on. It took the dealership 8 weeks with the bike sat in their workshop just to look at the bike and tell me that. Turned out it was a software issue and cost £35 to fix. The bike was brilliant but the two dealerships in question were awful.

This is a general statement but with second hand vehicles especially older ones dealers will not fix anything unless absolutely necessary. Every cent they spend on repairs is lost profit in their eyes. It's super important that if you're buying a bike/car you must give it a close looking over before buying it. Like any sales person as soon as you get on and ride away they are on to the next client. That might sound harsh but it's the truth. Make every cent count.

In my experience the dealers are just out to make a quick killing Bema being the worst all they want to do is sell you a new bike and charge £120 per hour for any work and don't even mention the cost of the parts. Hence I have gone from a 1200 G.S. to a Benelli 502 and love it to bits !! I think even the decent dealers only give you any respect if you buy a new bike that they know you're going to come back with for regular servicing. This is just mostly my impression from reading/hearing from other people. With my baby blade, I bought it from a guy who'd looked after the functioning parts incredibly well (he was a mechanic). I'm still looking for faults/errors to fix, and I just can't find them. I'd much rather buy from a private individual who's loved and looked after their machine, than a dealer. Look at the price difference too between what you can get second hand on forums/mcn/auto trader or even ebay, versus what dealers will try to sell you. I'd only stick with a dealer if they actually do a good job in after sale care. It's even okay to pay more for servicing if they do a very good job for you.

Willie, thanks for another great video and glad to hear you blocked MasterWhat'sHisName. The story about you mates Triumph 1050 is unbelievable but not surprising. If it were me I would return the bike to the dealer and ask them to fix the problem or give me my money back. If I didn't get my money back and they repaired the bike I would take the bike to another dealer and move it on to them. I say this as it sounds to me as if your mate has lost faith in the bike and life is too short to muck about being unhappy with a bike you no longer want. Whatever happens I wish your mate all the very best dealing with the dealer he bought the bike from. You are so right in what you say Willie that being that the bike was not checked over properly before your mate got it and I say shame on that dealer. I also think if this doesn't get sorted out soon the dealer should be named and shamed on your channel so others don't experience these problems themselves. Main dealers! Doesn't seem to matter if cars or bikes. Bought a bike from a really well known dealers (TT winners). Wouldn't bring a bike out of the middle of the showroom to let me hear it. Their comment. 'it wouldn't be there if not right'. Was immaculate. So bought it. 1/4 down road it broke down. They took it gave me a, courtesy bike. When ready, took it away. 1/4 down the road. Same thing. Long story short. They had to rebuild the motor. Was never right. Sounded like a bag of nails, and used a litre of oil every 100 miles. Ditto last car. Bought from main dealer, 12 months, MOT. Brakes felt funny. Took it to a local garage. All four discs worn out and front pads down to metal. Main dealer had done the MOT themselves advisory free. Threatened to report them to the MOT inspectorate. They did all the repairs. There's only one local bike dealer I'd buy from. All the stocks immaculate, they're fussy what they buy. The warranty isn't after market with loads of get out clauses. They warrant the bikes themselves and do in house work. Not many like that these days.

My Triumph Main dealer took over 6 months to order a replacement rear calliper (Tiger 1200 XCA - 2018) as the pad retaining pins had rounded off and seized in. Cost $1300 plus labour to fit. I was told it will take 2 weeks to arrive. After 2 months, and no contact, I found a good replacement on eBay and fitted it myself. 6 months later, the first contact with me, "your part has arrived". Too damn late. Cost to me $126 including postage and 40 minutes work. This isn't the first experience with the same main dealer. I guess this is their standard level of customer service. I'm just glad I didn't put down any deposit or pay for the new part up front.

One reason I buy cars and motorcycles as rarely as possible, is the general experience. I bought my last bike a year ago in the knowledge that even if it failed under warranty, I'd almost certainly take it to a local independent repairer. They only fix bikes, not sell them. Most dealers see ££££, not people when we walk through the door.

You may as well take your chances with a private sale and save yourself a load of money, yes you have no warranty, but a warranty just seems to lock you into having the bike serviced at a very expensive price in order to maintain the warranty. I just hope I don't have to visit one at any time in the future, luckily KZread provides loads of videos of how to service and fix most faults yourself. The latest new bikes even seem to lock you out of any diagnostics and service alert reset, meaning if you get a warning you have no option but to visit the dealership to get a fault diagnosis which will probably cost at least an hours labour. Basically there are loads of good 2nd hand motorcycles out there that aren't that expensive, my advice would be to keep away from the latest stuff. I met one guy this weekend who had a brand new V100 Moto Guzzi (beautiful bike) but he was actually riding his old classic Moto Guzzi 850 T3 as both he and his wife preferred the experience of riding the older bike over the new one. Of course it's not got all the modern fancy stuff you get on a new bike but surely a bike is all about how it makes you feel.

Where do I start? Well I trust no one, all these businesses are there to make money and they lie through their teeth. I had a new FZ 650, second service from the dealer and my bike was leaking oil. I checked it over and found they had cracked the sump by over tightening the sump bolt, not only that but they used metal paste round the sump bolt to try to stop it leaking. As if that was bad enough, they didn't even tell me. I took photos and emailed them to the dealership, lucky for them they told me to bring it in and they would replace the sump. When I got to the dealership I found they had sacked the mechanic. A year later my son in-law bought a new MT09, he took it in for its first 1000k service, on his way home he called me from the side of the road and said the oil light was on. I raced up to find that they had not put enough oil in the engine. I think it was around 2 litres I put in it. So the next day he took the bike back and had them service it properly. I have given up on bike shops especially big dealerships, all they want to do is make money with no thought of the customer. I always service and repair my own bikes as I wouldn't trust anyone with them. Also I would never buy new now as it is a total waste of money, they depreciate so much once you take it out the showroom. I could give you many other shocking story's about dealerships, but I might leave that for one of my next videos when I get the gumption to do one. By the way, was someone screaming on your video, I had to keep pausing as I thought it was outside my house. Lol.. Keep up the videos mate.

That is consumer law, your mate has 30 days and there is nothing the shop can do about it. You don’t have to give them any chance to repair it. Disgruntled with the low pay that pervades almost all employees in the country, they generally do not give hoot about quality of work. Never use a dealer where the workshop is not attached and open to public viewing. Go to a local workshop and see the difference. Dealers are the remnants of horse traders who would sell an old nag that was fit for the knackers yard for as much as they could get. Running a business is a very expensive enterprise and there is not much money about and so prices are relatively low. Profit margins are tight and bikes are awkward to repair and no one wants to pay for the time it takes. Buy a new bike every time unless you are fully aware of it's history and current condition. Your mate bought a bike with a duff front tyre and a clunky gearbox. Did he not test it, did he not check for himself the condition of the bike? Salesmen sell with heaps of BS. Workshops may just be homes for spanner monkeys. Buyer baware are the watchwords.

I hear there's alot of dodgy dealerships in the UK & waiting lists a long to get in for services. With a large population in UK & not enough dealerships I guess demand is high for garages & dealers & con men & incompetent mechanics taking advantage of the demand for bike mechanics.I'm surprised Triumph hasn't sacked that Dealer.Sounds like HIS name is Arthur Daley😂🤣& sounds like you got plenty of them about.Once you find a good Dealership or local mechanic that's been around for awhile & good reputation you stick with them it's when you change brands you have to trust new dealership for first few services & hopefully it's a good experience. In NZ 🇳🇿 most Dealerships that have been around for awhile are pretty good & only takes a few days 1week at max to get in too.I know of 2 Dealerships owned by Brits that went bust & were not up to standard here🤣 one was my Local RE dealer who was taking deposits on bikes right up till HE went bust & since moved back to UK.The other was a European car dealership who was a 🤠 cowboy & reputation got so bad & in court all the time he went bust & run out of Palmerston North & moved to Havelock North & opened up another European dealership in wifes name & ripped people off again.HE is still open but fighting several court battles. We call them Arthur Daley's here🤣.Not all Poms who open a Dealership are bad in NZ 🇳🇿 but when you here that accent you hope he's not a Arthur Daley. Also in NZ 🇳🇿 being small population word gets around quick & most dealers have been around decades & are intergenerational or are sold from owner when retires ti mechanic & carry on so service is pretty good. Also the prices for labour are basically the same no matter which Dealership you go to in NZ 🇳🇿 too.

Arthur Daley 🤣 not only in UK.We had Minder on T.V in NZ 🇳🇿 in 80's & was in Ausie too.If your surname was Daley you wouldn't want to name your son Arthur😆😁😂🤣.

Sounds like HIS name was Arthur Daley🤣. Telling him to use 2fingers on the clutch is a safety issue & dodgy & if you came off & got hurt they'd be liable & be the end of them.Dodgy,Triumph should take a look at HIM or put their name with someone worthy of their name.

Most of these dealers are no better than car dealers now… mainstream big showroom haven’t a friggin clue especially Triumph! And I worked for them briefly. Seek out a genuine Bike shop that knows their stuff, some still around.
