    The 'radiator' you mentioned is an oil cooler and the fins on the cylinder are not fake - this is an air cooled engine. Water cooling came in 2016 where obviously the entire engine was redesigned. Good info on your ownership experience though.

    Thanks for this, was never sure 100% sure on what was what. Always wondered why there was a radiator on an air cooled engine, I thought it was just for additional cooling, never considered the oil would need a separate cooling mechanism. Much prefer it to the massive radiator the later liquid cooled models have 🤫

  • @varmastiko2908

    @varmastiko2908

    10 ай бұрын

    @@unOrdinaryWorldIt certainly looks sleeker than the water cooled ones. Thing with air cooling is that often manufacturers will indeed utilize oil coolers to complement the air cooling. So while it's useful in itself to keep the oil cool for better lubrication, they actually do use oil cooling as an extra cooling effort on top of the air fins. This is why you often see comparatively large oil coolers (bigger than is needed strictly for the lubricant) on air cooled engines.

    I have never had a bike that made me feel good inside and out a smile on my face like the Triumph T100. I don't know what madness came over me but I traded it in for a Beemer and I regretted it within a month of doing the deed anyway Beemer is gone only to be replaced by another T100. Your description is spot on.

    What a fantastic video! The Irish scenery is spectacular. The close-up shots of the T100 itself and your narration are crystal clear. I bought a 2023 T100 and found it to be a great bike also, but don't have many miles logged so far due to the weather in the eastern U.S.

    Wonderful video! Thanks for the tour, too! I've been around quite a bit but yet to go to Ireland. I share your love of the bike and I've had several. A good cleaning of the calipers every couple years when doing the fluid flush should help the feel. The only mods I've done to my '11 T-100 are a Dart screen and CNC shorty levers as I couldn't adequately cover the front brake with the stock levers, even in the closest position. Ride on, mate!

    I just picked up a 2007 Bonneville. It had been sitting for 4 years, so I had to get the inside of the tank and the carbs cleaned up before it would run. It's a fun bike but it seems to run hotter than my vintage bikes. If I aim my laser thermometer at the top cooling fin (an inch or so from the spark plug) it'll be 250 degrees, which is 30 to 40 degrees hotter than my 1964 Triumph 650 or my 1975 Honda CB750 after a similar ride. I didn't expect that. I figured with the oil cooler on the front it would run slightly cooler than those older bikes. Maybe the fuel injected bikes run cooler than the carb models.

    I like that you've kept it mostly stock. A lot times riders (myself included) will pick up a new bike and while we're in the honeymoon period we immediately start with the mods (new mufflers, tail tidy kit, new handlebars, rejet the carbs, etc) before we've spent any time just riding the bike. I tell people to just enjoy the bike for few months (even up to 6 months) then figure out what you want to change. (Unless it's a mod or change that you need to make to be able to enjoy the bike..like a short rider swapping out the bars or the seat to make the bike ridable.) As far as the other mods go, you may realize two months after buying the bike that this isn't the bike for you after all... in that case, that $1500 you spent on mods isn't adding value on the resale market so you basically threw that money away. A few years ago I picked up a 2017 Moto Guzzi V7iii and immediately started dropping money on mods... I want fork gators, and tank knee pads and a different seat.... a year later I sold it because I realized I didn't love it. Of course I didn't make 1000 dollars I spent back. I sold it for a couple hundred less than what I paid for it originally, which was fine. It was a learning experience, and I had a years worth of fun with the bike.

    I have a 2013 air cooled T100, the brakes can be improved by uprating the front springs (believe it or not) and slightly better quality brake pads.

    @@unOrdinaryWorld go for full length springs, I suggest progressive Ikons (others are available but Hagon are short with a spacer like the original springs) full length progressive are much better damped and don't plunge and then rebound like the standard triumph springs.

    I had a 2010 Thruxton that was pretending to be a sport bike. I just got a 2012 Bonneville and it's not pretending to be anything other than a nice ride. Just easy all the way around. I have several other bikes and if I'm not going too far I choose the Triumph.

    What do you think about the T100 or T120 for a totally new rider? I'm 53, 6'3" 215 lns and consider myself a careful driver. What accessories do you recommend for the Bonneville starting out?

  • @unOrdinaryWorld

    Never actually rode the 120, but for a new rider I'd say the 100 is plenty enough bike, and a particularly friendly one for starting on. Panniers and a windshield are definite considerations for accessories 😁🏍️💨

    Hi there! In my experience it holds up very well to the elements, the chrome is perfect and only some paint peeling on the lower metal parts of the bike close to the road. Look up FreeMilesMC on KZread, he's a friend of mine and reviewed the bike and talked more in depth about the build quality than I did here. I really love my Bonnie! Cool to have a comment from Dublin, will see you on the road 😜🏍️💨

    I'd have to say the Triumph, not that the 850c handles bad at all, but it's a long bike with a stretched out front fork and bars. It's a cruiser after all. The Triumph is definitely more compact and tidy, easier to move around in tight spots than the 850c 😬
