Shocking Footage Shows Hundreds of Corbina (fish) Swimming in Shallow Water with Swimmers

A massive school of corbina was cruising through the surf at a local San Diego beach seemingly unphased by the surfers and swimmers immediately nearby. As I filmed this experience from my DJI Mini SE above, a couple of swimmers and surfers cruised directly through a school of what appeared to be a school of corbina or possibly spotfin croaker. The school of fish was estimated to be close to 1000 fish.
As you watch the video, you'll see a large school to the left of a surfer and swimmer. Look immediately above (to the right of) these beachgoers, and you'll see the other half of the school.

How did you ID the fish? The picture doesn't seem clear enough. They could be surf perch.

When you spend enough time watching fish you kinda just know. I can tell you with 100% certainty these are Corbina potentially with Spotfin mixed in. Way to big to be Surfperch

It really is man! Would normally say “thanks” but Im just the one who captured it on film. The beauty is in nature. Super cool to catch a glimpse of what’s out there.

@@pnguyen3246 some of em. But waters still warm rn. You ca always catch them. They’re just more plentiful in the shallows in the summertime.
Gotta lob a soft shell sand crab with roe in there!
