She is fucking awesome. I need to follow her immediately. I love how she isn't ashamed of getting older. That is such a healthy attitude. Her music is also amazing, but that goes without saying.

She is so fucking charming. Every interview I watch, she is just so open and honest and down to earth and engaging. We need more Shirley Mansons in this world.
What an icon. Way underrated and underappreciated.

She's great! I was a teenager when the 90s arrived. When I first heard and saw Garbage on MTV it was mindblowing. I did not know then women existed that are so confident, articulate, strong - and sexy in a very different way that I know women (Yeah, but what do you know about women as a teenager?). She's one of my female icons in music, together with women such as Dolores O'Riordan, Kim Gordon, Björk and ... harrumph ... Susanna Hoffs.
If Girls need a role model Shirley is a good one.
OMG I could literally listen to Shirley talk for hours. Everything she says is interesting. I dont think she could ever be boring.
Shirley is phenomenal. she talks so genuine but deep and omg I really aspire to be like her. I wanna think about everything the way she does tbh
"I'm not gonna let the trolls get me down." AWESOME
I have nothing but respect for Ms. Shirley. She is a legend and a strong person. Hats off to her.

Every time I see an interview with her, I'm impressed all over again at what a great lady she is. The ultimate Rock chick in my opinion. Oh and she has a great analogue sound system in that room, especially the valve amp and speakers...I'm a bit of HiFi geek.

try watching/listening to Howard Stern.. he's the best in my opinion. not sure who you're into but just listened to a Sandra Bernhard interview (she's been on many times), she's amazing, of course a ton or musicians, comics, actors, etc. Gwen, Courtney and Madonna (Gwen and Madonna have been in the more recent years) the interviews are like 2 hour-long, in depth and personal... he's gained the respect he did not always have as has shifted his focus on these interviews. it's a rarity to have people of this caliber open up about almost everything. As a fan of his in general I notice this evolution... definitely recommend!
Why so many dislikes? What a great interview!

Love Shirley Manson! I got to see her in concert in a small venue in the 90's. Best concert I've ever been to!
She's an international treasure. There's no discussion, that's just how it is.
4: 50 Androgyny and Cherry Lips were playing non stop on MTV, I didn't know you felt like you were failing then.
I still to date listen to Garbage on a weekly basis. Love every album. They've stuck to their sound perfectly. Always had hoped for at least one single between Gwen and Shirley.
She is such an impressive person : massive personal growth
That was a great interview Kim. You asked the right questions. Shirley is such an interesting individual to listen to. Thanks.
Courtney? As in Courtney love? Aww that's so sweet from Shirley. Courtney gets so much shit in the media just because she is honest with who she is.and the things you see are part of her defense mechanism. This was a great interview

my moms Scottish, don't need a crash course... there are tanning beds, sun, unhealthy foods, drugs, etc. pretty much everywhere. she obviously takes good care of herself and has the money to do so. the American aesthetic is totally different than European lifestyle, my moms got red-hair looks quite a bit younger. I was a massive fan of Garbage at 10-11, one of the first shows I saw, so it's a big jarring that almost 20 years has flashed by so quickly.

She obviously does take care of herself and even more, she hasn't buckled down to getting plastic surgeries on her face which probably helped as well. Plus the fact, she still dresses the way she wants to, pink hair and all. I feel like that can help retain a youthful fire as well.

Great interview. Thanks. I felt myself so connected to her and her energy, I love the way she is growing up.
How can this interviewer not know Shirley's Birthday. It's her 50th Birthday she's going to ask her about and she didn't do the research?
She's so fucking amazing. I can't. I've admired her ever since I was little.
This is an absolutely fantastic video, thank you Noisey! Kudos to BTB and Shirley - you are inspirations!!
Shirley Manson is my fucking idol. Much love.
Omg I LOVE this woman, so insightful, so honest, so full of life! Perfect interview!
Was never the biggest Garbage fan growing up, but she is a classy, elegant, and wonderful talent that you can't help but admire.
This report is awesome, well thought out and put together. Couldn't have wished for a better throwback doc on a band that deserves it.
Shirley is beyond awesome. She's always been herself and true to music and I love hearing about her views on this crazy industry
Great interview, I so much love people who are so open and straightforward, WYSIWYG! If I cycle in the rain (being in the Netherlands, that is about to happen, a little less now due to covid), I always have "I'm only happy when it rains" in my head and frequently sing that aloud when cycling. It's been in my head among other great Garbage songs ever since witnessing Garbage Live on Pinkpop and Werchter festivals. One of my 90's? big influences
She's so genuine and real, just love her 🤘♥️
Great interview!
Shirley is my idol in way that.. I mean, look at she in 50, she paints her hair in bright colors and wears cool clothes at concerts, she has a cool figure and she still make music and give a show. She is an example of the fact that a man can be a bright person and live a bright life even in 50 years. In my country(Russia) I can't even imagine seeing a man at least 30 years old with pink hair on the street.....Our mentality does not understand the external expression of the inner world, and it's very sad sometimes. .. Anyway, Shirley shows that you always can be yourself. She still has her inimitable style, her mind and her charm and I love it all in her.
Great interview!!!
I love Shirley. I don't often listen to her interviews, but when I do I always love them. She has a relatively unique thought process.
Not do be demeaning or anything, but her hair made me want Strawberry Nesquik.

Very beautiful, interesting and humorous woman. Nice to see Shirley. As always perfectly looks, jokes. Love her voice, big eyes, red hair and temperament.
To ( the three of) us down here she's 'Big Shirley', we love her, her music, and that she also speaks out is of unseen value for every human who does not have a platform. We were to criticise or at least slightly distance ourselves on her 7 seconds about Courtney Love, at times we think it's almost like putting a good word out for a corrupt politician, but we walked away from thinking anything, and we guess Shirley Manson might be kind of aware anyway. Shirley has her reasons to put a better word out for C. Love. We respect her - Shirley Manson as someone of who we think has real reasons - which she has thought over before she speaks them out. The whole entire rest of this interview is (to us)one of the few of artist interviews worth listening to more than once.

@@iloveyoulawliet179 yes, after all record is she manipulates by telling a different story each time - and is physically violent when she doesn't get the attention she wants. She should have continued with her early lyrics talent - but instead became corrupt on all levels to get into fam light. // I understand if you'd want some links - i only just read your comment comming back from work - 3 min time for net and emails. But Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth for example wrote down what others only remember in their heads, try Kim Gordon's 'Girl In A Band', chapter ..(? 32) .. on Courtney Love.
