Shimano Stradic 5000 maintenance and take apart

This video shows how to take apart the Shimano Stradic 5000 fishing reel and how to perform the basic maintenance including lubrication and drag washer service. The procedures apply to most Stradic, Sustain and Stella reels. The key differences would be in the way the case comes apart and the number of bearing inside the reel.

Inherited an old stradic 4000. Stripped it down and serviced it. Runs like new now but I still have to check drag washers. Can you tell me what kind of oil the drag washers get? Standard reel oil? Thanks.

If you have the felt washers, you would use a standard reel oil, like the ones sold by Shimano, Penn, etc. I use ReelX which is a high performance aftermarket oil. You should also consider an upgrade to Carbonex washers if you are going to use this reel a lot and will put the drags to work. One way to know, is to check after a few trips. If you see the felt washers are fraying or starting to elongate, then you may want to do the upgrade. Thanks for asking - Dennis

They work some of the time. If the reel is using stainless screws, they don't. The one Phillips screwdriver I use does have a magnetic tip. Thanks for the tip - Dennis

Yup - If you have a stainless steel refrigerator or know someone that does, try to put a household magnet on it! Thanks for viewing - Dennis
Do you have stella 6000f 98 part? I need osilation slider n osilation gear

I do not have those parts. You should be able to get these through ereplacementparts.com if they are still available. Make sure you put Shimano and you r model number in the search bar to limit the query - Dennis
