Shimano Di2 Wireless Unit Installation (For Garmin Edge Pairing)

VeloGPS demonstrate how to install the Shimano EW-WU111 wireless unit in order to enable connection to a compatible Garmin Edge GPS computer (1030, 830, 530). Connectivity also enables pairing with a compatible smartphone or tablet which, coupled with Shimano's ETube app, enables wireless updates to your Di2 setup.

I did the connection from the junction box, not my battery, which was on my down tube (Pinarello). Followed the steps, and yes it crashed my system; nothing on my di2 worked. I deleted the Etub app from my phone. Downloaded the Etub software from Shimano to my computer, plugged the charger to the junction box and the other end (USB) to my computer. Right away noticed the software indicated my di2 battery was dead. Charged the battery. Re-connected to computer and was able to do an update to a derailleur that was needed and change what the buttons on top of the hoods do (paging back and forth Garmin pages). Everything works great. Thinking something drained the battery which caused the issue of di2 not working. Also, having these preferences on the iPhone app is nice but for peace of mind, if you can, do the connection through a computer (or tablet) with the Etub software.

I am hearing about issues when updating the unit. It gets part way through and then crashes. You then need to reset by removing power and installing again. Did you have this issue? I'm a little worried as I don't think battery access is as easy on my 2020 Canyon Endurace.

Yes! Great video and instructions, but why do so many feel the need to wreck their otherwise helpful clip by using sh!t (or any), music.
Great video, Thanks for the instructions... But what is the difference between the EW-WU101 and the EW-WU111? I have the EW-WU101 does it install the same way?

Both the EW-WU101 and EW-WU111 are Bluetooth and ANT compatible. They work with the e-Tube app on a phone or tablet, as well as with a Garmin. They are interchangeably other than a geometry difference; the EW-WU111 is inline with a port on each end, and the EW-WU101 has both ports on the same end.
Can the unit be installed in either direction?

shit load of cables and components turn me off.
I prefer AXS all day...no cables no rattles...to many cables on Di2 👎
