Shift work linked to depression: BBC News Review

🔎People who start work outside of the regular 9 to 5 are at a higher risk of poor mental health. A new study of UK workers has found those who work shifts are more likely to suffer from depression and anxiety. Smoking, lack of sleep and exercise are more common among shift workers. In the study, shifts are defined as work which starts outside 9am to 5pm.

Odd working hours are tied to poor mental health, and 9 to 5 isn't bad after all.

Better than what we do here in BR, which is 8 to 6. My bf works in a company in shifts of 8h, changing every 4 or 5 days. He feels his body and mind pretty bad, and the worse is to set his bio sleep hour correctly so he won't sleep at work

My school projects are tied to my academic transcript, so that's why I always have to pull an all-nighter in order to finish them on time. Though, I know it's bad for my health due to the lack of sleep, I've been feeling a bit odd and dizzy lately. So I decided to check up and my health was fine after all. Thank god!

Shift working makes me less daily exercise actually. As the work place is nice and colleague is amazing,I hadn’t thought leave it. After watching this and reading related articles, I should think leave.

In major industries across the world ,round the clock work in 3 shifts of 8 hour duration apart from the 9 to 5 shift is "tied to" mass production/output.If every worker shies away from working in odd shifts fearing anxiety and depression, the output will become the casualty resulting in the decline in economy , throwing the GDP topsy-turvy. Preaching is good but practising is difficult. It's a good video and has focussed on psychological problems the workforce in industries experience.By the way, I have remained tied to BBC learning English which never fails me in my journey to improve English knowledge.
